"Then we'll run!" Rubie giggled, starting to run out the door.
"Hey, Rubie! Stop running!" Madalina shouted, not talking loud but loud enough for their vampire hearing, rushing after her.

"I'll race you," Calico giggled, chasing Rubie. "Last one there is a dumb human!" She giggled.
Jamie rolled his eyes at his sister's actions and turned towards Madalina. "They're such kids, aren't they?"

Madalina nodded, "Well, I sure hope we make it to the town tonight..well, either way we'd have to sleep outside tonight. We can't go around town early in the morning before the sun has even come up asking for housing."

"We could knock on doors late at night, looking like orphan children, lost from our parents. Ask if we could stay the night, do a chore to pay for rent and then leave the next night," he suggested. "but to do that, we'd have to look as poor as we could.

"No they wouldn't. We'd just have to explain how we got separated and we're looking for them, and we need a place to rest. We can only travel at night because of Calico has very fare skin that burns so easily and sunlight damages her body. "

"Okay!" She called out, loudly, waking one of the neighbors up. "What was that?" he called out, stepping outside. "What're you kids doing out so late?" he demanded.

"That was close," Jamie said, with a sigh. "From now on, whispering only. You don't want to get caught."
