I've tried to read Harry Potter; I really, truly have tried to get past one chapter. But to be honest, you can really tell a woman wrote it. Just like you can tell a woman wrote the Twilight books. I don't think I'll ever understand why the Harry Potter books are so popular. Never ever. If anything, I consider the franchise my least favourite of all time. Everything about it is just so dark and unpleasant to me. I've seen the first and second movies, which gave me a general idea of the stories, and while the use of the imagination is present and accounted for, it's just not used well in my opinion.
I'm currently reading Dune.

I will never understand Twilight. Hmm, I dunno, maybe because there isn't any plot to it? And don't worry, Golde. I never was into HP either. Or LotR. Or Narnia, or Eragon. (Eragon is pretty much a rip-off of LotR anyway) The fictional series of book I stick with is Pit Dragon Chronicles. Right now, I'm re-reading Dragon Rider by Cornelia Funke...... for the fifth time. I guess you can see where I get most of my writing style from. ^^;

Mm, well, Twilight's sort of a different story. It's no surprise to people if one says he can't stand it. But when one says he doesn't like Harry Potter, he'll just get stares of disbelief. But yeah, I'm glad to know even a person who likes fantasy as much as you do still has considerably good taste. Oh, Lord of the Rings I freakin' loved. At least the characters were fun and the story was gripping and the plot was consistent and everything always added up. Amazing stuff; if I could set aside a few days to do nothing but read anything I want, it would be to re-read that book series. *laughs* Which is odd because I always tell people I don't like reading fantasy books. Lord of the Rings is a worthy exception.

Aahh, I get don't worry I am not going to convert you to Harry Potterism (oh wait that isn't a word even) -.- As for Lord of the Rings, I really tried to read all the books in the series but I kinda got stuck in the second book, while I love the story, I just felt like there were too many characters and I was getting very confused. Although, I do like the movies ;D I don't like fantasy either, my favorite genre is mystery. As for books, I picked up the sisterhood of the traveling pants only cause it was on sale and I want to see the movie But is it a bad thing that women are writing (you said about how you can tell Harry Potter was written by a woman...?) As for twilight, I read the books but they are bearable to read, but only a one time thing. As for Harry, well I can get lost in the world of Hogwarts

I shouldn't say all women's writing is distinct, but look at the main vampire boy in Twilight. The perfect gentleman. Way too perfect, if you know what I mean.

^ Nuf' said. I never read Twilight just because of the "perfect" characters. And the way girls crazed over Edward and the "romance" of the story. It's a bit unhealthy.
Still reading Inkspell by Cornelia Funke. I'm very fascinated by the story, but I need to get the 1st book of the trilogy.

Ah, Inkspell. A friend of mine is reading that as well. She encourages me to pick it up. One day I'll make sure I do.
I'm loving Dune, by the way. ;;

Well, currently I'm about to be reading text books. Whee. But I really want to read one of those ALICE books for fun(the new one that comes out in June), or To Kill a Mocking Bird... Those alice books by phyllis renyolds naylor, I LOVE those books, they are awesome. Its a big series starts in the kids section, but still cool. To kill a mockingbird, good book, to bad were not reading it in english class instead were watching the movie and doing a project over it. Alabama in the 30s we have to make a newspaper, including the trial of somebody..... Cool books that your going to read, by the way....
