Esperanza Rising by Pam Munoz Ryan. I like books where people’s lives change suddenly out of nowhere because it is interesting to see how the characters react and if they adapt.

Ah, I liked that one. Very sweet story. Very emotional. Reading Gatsby is a very pleasent surprise. While Gatsby may not have the most cheerful ending ever, choosing my words carefully to avoid spoilers. It's a far more upbeat piece of work when compared to the others I have had to study this year for English Literature. 'The Kite Runner' and 'King Lear' are about as dark as you can get. Don't even get me started on the poetry, Thomas Hardy's works are rather... Well, grim.

Oh hey, I remember reading that book. It's quite an interesting one as well, some interesting messages about equal rights between whites and blacks, not judging people before you know them and the author uses the innocence of children to a great effect to tell the story.
And then some parents still try to ban it from public libraries and schools because of racism issues.

that is stupid, i love that book but what got me to read it was an old baby sitters club book my cousin gave me. The plot line was all about banned books. My favorite character is Atticus and scout.

To Kill A Mocking Bird is so full of win. I read it last year.
Right now I'm not reading anything, but if I get The Lucky One by Nicholas Sparks for my birthday, I'll surely be reading it. Oh, and The Dragon Princess by E.B. Baker as well.

Well, I've only read Dragon Kiss; that's the sequel to The Dragon Princess. But DK was pretty exciting! I'm sure TDP will be, too. (I don't think I'm going to read The Frog Princess trilogy, or Magic series.... they're all by E.D. Baker. I think I'll stick w/ The Dragon Princess books for now)

My talented buddy sent me the next chapter of her story, Fatherhood, which is actually incredibly intense. I actually went an evening just wondering what would happen next.

*SmileSmile!* A good book I'm reading right now is "Its Kind Of a Funny Story." By Ned Vizinni. The character and his situation relates to me in a way, not saying how. But its really a great read. Although it is a little....boring. in the beginning.

Any one read and enjoyed a harry potter book? I have, I enjoyed the earlier books as a child. Although, the fourth book failed to captivate my imagination and I lost interest in that. Although, on the topic of Fantasy books, Terry Pratchett is a fantastic author and, while there won't be many books left in his series because of his alzheimers, I would reccomend a readind of at least some of his works. (Mind you, there are a lot of books in his Discworld series, so, to suggest all of them would be mad. Unless you're really into the series as I am) Anyway, currently I am re-reading 'The Kite Runner' for English Literature.
