That would've been a sweeter ending.
I think there's a chance that Nigel, when returning to earth however many years later, comes back to Lizzie. Whether she's willing to take him back or not, I don't know. But I kind of like the image of Nigel being on Lizzie's doorstep (supposing she's still single) with a bouquet of flowers in his hand. "Lizzie? Will you go out with me?"

Maybe. But by that time, she could already be married with kids. Or engaged. Or have completely forgotten him as nothing more than a childhood romance that wasn't meant to last.
Meaning he'll have to win her heart all over again.
And I REALLY wish they'd showed us how they freaking met!

Long enough before that for her to be sending him messages via ultra important pathways that set off alarms and him not getting angry by it. Also for him to tell her they're dating.
Couple weeks, maybe. I don't know how 10-year-old relationship timelines work. Maybe they met an additional few weeks before. I'd put their meeting between 6 and 8 weeks before LIZZIE.

Sounds reasonable to me.
I kind of imagined them through family friends. Maybe their mothers knew each other or something. It's not necessarily true, but it's a pretty neat fanfic idea.

Oh. Hehe. Of course. How could I forget school.
At the beginning, during LIZZIE and QUIET, I really learned to dislike Lizzie. I don't know whether that was intended or not, but as the series progressed, I really kind of grew to like her. I thought think they were actually really cute together. I especially liked them in SNOWING. Probably my favorite 1/Lizzie episode.

The first episode of Lizzie turned off a lot of viewers, I guess because everyones fond of Numbah 1 and didn't like him being pushed around like that.
Oddly enough, one of my favorite episodes of the two are CAKED-TWO. I think it that the moment Lizzie really started to care for Nigel, her little heart just broke when he became angry with her over her trick. And I love how he calls her his "CRAZY girlfriend!" It was one of those things that only someone who really cares about you can say something with such fondness and admiration.
Nigels such a little rebel against authority, he probably got his fair share of talkings too (though I don't know if he ever got detention before the president episode). With Lizzie being the little helper of the principal (at least I think she was...) he might of met her that way.
Picture this. Little Nigie swings his legs on a school chair outside of the principals office, waiting to get called in so he could pretend to listen to the same old droll on "respecting your elders" and such. It's the thrid time or so that Lizzies seen him there. And so begins their first shy meeting...
By the way Suki, what's your new crack pairing?
