Look, it's not just a matter of age. It's a matter of basic decency. What you do in private comunication is between you and the Gods Of Bad Taste but when you post something on a open-to-public website for all the 'net to see it is considered prudent to practice some self-censure. At the very least inform readers of a 'rating' (not that that helps much, you understand, but at least people can't claim they've been taken by surprise) of the stuff you are writing. The age issue just compounds the problem. While the rules do say you have to be over 13 to join this leaves out the following problems: a) Many people here are younger than 13. I know it, you know it. This is a forum for a KID'S SHOW, for crying out loud. Some consideration for our members of tender years would be nice. Selfless, so to speak. b) Even if you do in fact have 13 years that doesn't mean you are ready for everything and anything the internet can throw at you. As I recall PG-13 raitings mean the content is pretty tame. c) Some people can find ther aesthetic and/or moral sensibilities offended by cybersex[1]. I'm not saying cybersex is 'bad' or 'wrong' just that one must understand that a lot of people have different, conflicting senses of morality and that a modicum of effort must be made to appease those groups. Nothing drastic, you understand, just some goodwill. Considering all this I see we have a rather taxing problem. I propose the following a) Stop with the cybersex. Obviously this solution will leave a lot of people unhappy but it is an option. Now I myself am quite opposed to censorship and would dislike such a solution immensly. b) Restrict the cybersex to private messages. Again a problematic solution as it seems a lot of people have their hearts set on keeping their threads. c) Go for a tech-fix. Make a board only accesible by the mods (for policing purposes) and a certain user-group[2] composed of those users expressing a desire to view and post X-rated material. Access to said group would be available on request to a mod via PM. d) Ignore the problem and/or hope the Ethics Elves[3] fix it using magic. This solution, too, would displease a group of users which is, of course, bad. Thoughts? [1] And here I feel a need to tell an offtopic joke. They make a poll in a campus of a large university about cybersex. So they find a student for an MBA and they ask her "What do you think of cybersex?" and she answers "What kind of sex?". Next they interview a computer science student and ask him the same question. He answers "Cyber-what?". ;D Sorry...couldn't help myself. [2] As I recall proboards software supports user groups. [3] A subgroup of helpful fey (such as the Shoemaker's elves) they will solve knotty ethics problems overnight if a bowl of milk is left out. I agree.

What you do in private comunication is between you and the Gods Of Bad Taste... I think I love you. As for your ideas, I agree with the following options: a) Stop with the cybersex. Obviously this solution will leave a lot of people unhappy but it is an option. Now I myself am quite opposed to censorship and would dislike such a solution immensly. c) Go for a tech-fix. Make a board only accesible by the mods (for policing purposes) and a certain user-group[2] composed of those users expressing a desire to view and post X-rated material. Access to said group would be available on request to a mod via PM. Like I said, I don't purposely seek out their little "RPs". I use one of the board's many time-saving functions called "15 Most Recent Posts". It lets me know in a quick way which topics were posted to recently, instead of fishing through the entire forum for new posts. Now I love this feature, and I should NOT have to stop using it simply because I don't want to read the cybersex, because I am not kidding, every time I go 10 out of the 15 latest posts ARE IN FACT cybersex. I'm here to discuss a children's show. Let me say that once more: a children's show. That is the MAIN purpose for this message board. Why the admins and mods allow SEX of all things to run rampant is beyond me. Have some decency, people, please. Take it into PRIVATE where it belongs.

I haven't read the thread in question...and I'm going to answer this as 1-a forum member in good standing and 2-as a mom.
The separate forum is an excellent idea. That was my first thought upon reading the title of this thread, but before I could post it, my f@#$ing computer crashed.
I'd never post anything on here that I wouldn't want my kids to see. They're still too young to read, but give them a year or two, not to mention that their minds are already sharp and savvy. I know, I know, you can bring up the hot tub stuff, but we've been very tasteful with that whole thing. If we do anything crazier, it's not going to be on the board. Period.
The password-accessible forum seems like the perfect solution, and it'll please everyone in question.

Im going to say No passwords.. Thats a very big pain to have.. a password for a fourm. We could subboard in the rp section called"mature roleplays" and make that locked that way its kinda like the mod board. You can see it if you can access it. Also what i did..(of course this was a Joke..but it kinda helped..) On a Rp me n Kimi were in on a completely different fourm.. I wrote in very big letters and fancy font" WARNING..THIS GETS RATED CUZ WE ARE HYPER!" it seemd to work..but its also a small fourm.. I kind of like the "mature roleplay" idea but im in if anyone else is.

Note that that's what I suggested -- a separate board only some people can access just like the Staff Board. The 'password' thing was just the result of miscommunication.
So most people agree with the idea of a separate board for certain RPs? Shall we implement it?

Sure thing. And of couse *cough*all becks rps*cough* will go in*cough* anyone else agree to create it.. While were on this subject.. I was thinking like a "mature discussion" section like i saw on another fourm. It will be for mature fourm members to discuss mature things. Like problems that we might have, but it wouldnt be good for younger members to see. Stuff that is like death..and sexual things that younger members might be queasy about or not be mature enough to understand.(...Im getting into Sociology..I really want to take that course..)

So most people agree with the idea of a separate board for certain RPs? Shall we implement it? Looks like it would be the only way to keep the largest number of people happy. I was also thinking a mature-related KND livejournal roleplay community, but those will be harder to keep up with I'd think. How would the mature roleplay board work exactly, though? EDIT: Also, when general-you say "I agree," can general-you please be a little more specific? Agree to whom? And agree to what, when the poster has suggested multiple solutions or answers? That's what we wanna know. Thank you.

a subboard in the KND RP section. some of the heavy roleplayers who like sexual action get the passwords, and there they wont be disturbed. And it wont show up on the most recent posts, unless you have access to teh board. Also does anyone agree with the Mature Discussion board?

I'm not too sure on a mature discussion board yet; I think we have some in the Real Life board already (the various religious discussions) and nothing's happened to them.

Im a little confused in passwords n stuff. Maybe it should. or be hidden I really dont know. I think all Mods should have access to it,and then some mature roleplay memembers(like beckie and Yoni) I'll see what others think of the mature discussion board. If something happens with the discussion then maybe we'll need to take action.
