I finally started watching that Howl's Moving Castle movie. It's so cool. Calsiph-Calsi- That fire-dude is awesome. I think his name's Halcifer. Funny thing about Howl's Moving Castle is, its actually based on an English-language novel, written by Dianna Wynn-Jones (the only other Ghibli film I'm aware of that's based on something not-Japanese is their recent Earthsea film). My sister special-ordered the novel and me and her both loved it (she liked it more than the movie. For myself, I can't decide).

Okay, I just got done watching Nerima Daikon Brothers Volume 3 for the second time... Seriously, if you like musicals and comedy (and don't mind some ...well..innuendo) check it out. I only have one complaint: ...Waaay too short. Only 12 episodes in all (4 per DVD). It's from the guy who directed Lupin the 3rd and Excel Saga. It's a hilarious show. It's basically one huge parody of The Blues Brothers with a couple jokes about Japanese current events (though there's also a villain that's very easily recognizable as a Micheal Jackson parody...he's yellow and looks like a scarecrow wearing a Peter Pan outfit. He uses mummies he calls "Thrillas" and zombies he calls "bads" to fight on his behalf). I will admit, they recycle songs all over the place (Not the lyrics, just the rhythms)...each episode (except the last) has a "rental song", where they go to the rental guy (Nabeshin, actually) who rents them things for a song. One time, he actually sings in place of Ichiro, and Widget (a detective sort of like Inspector Gadget, only female, and kind of..silly. She's in love with a panda, then Ichiro, then a fish cake, then panda again, then Ichiro, then panda....). There are a LOT of innuendo jokes such as... The title of one episode is "A Threesome? In MY Dome?"...there is no actual threesome. Though Mako attempts to ..well, she seems to try to rape Ichiro. All in all, it's just a great series, though it starts getting kind of serious on you in the last four episodes. Also, there's some weird thing with Ichiro where if he slaps someone, they fall in love with him. The main characters are Hideki, Ichiro, and Mako. Hideki and Ichiro are brothers, and Mako's their cousin. They're all trying to start a band and build a concert dome in their daikon (sort of like a radish) field. Hideki is in love with Mako, but she keeps telling him they can't get married because "It's in the constitution!" ....despite the fact that she eventually falls in love with Ichiro after he slaps her. Hideki's the ring leader, though he's not very bright. He works hard, but doesn't have much morals. Mako ...has even less morals. It's all about money for her...that, and Ichiro. Ichiro is...severely calm. He doesn't say much, and everything he's said is done in monotone. He sings with a lot of emotion, though...he's ...err...turned on by the panda, though he doesn't seem to truly love it. If you get time, look into it.

Sounds funny. And I've just started watching Eureka 7. It is sooooo good! Normally I'm not into the robots and missiles and, you know, that kind of stuff. But the characters are so cool. Renton is awesome. Really, really awesome.

I couldn't get into Eureka 7. I tried to watch it but... it just turned me off.
I'm going through Tekkaman Blade again. This is really an awesome series and I'm glad I got the DVD set. I might add an anime and cartoon review section to my site (maybe).

I don't care for Eureka 7 either, but I do rather like the main girl character. She was a pretty cool gal.

I just discovered this anime called Lucky Star... ...A-At first I had only seen the opening song. My initial reaction was: "....W-what the hell did I just watch? It's like they took the sweetest thing in the world, added flowers, kittens, and schoolgirls, mixed them together, and made this with it" I pretty much forgot about it, until one day I was bored, and just decided to watch the first episode. And then my reaction was: "...They spent the first ten minutes of this series talking about eating pastries..." And yet... I... I can't stop watching... Even their huge sparkly eyes and gravity defying, unaturally colored hair haven't deterred me... ...I'm still trying to figure out how I'm actually enjoying this show...

Lucky Star will probably be like Bobobo (I'm not even gonna try and spell the full name right, because I know I'll fail...) Some'll think it's hilarious, others'll think it's just stupid random crap.

Hm, I heard the target age group is guys, 18-30. That's what I read on some comments about the show. So I assume it's pervy. But I still must watch it!

Oddly enough, I discovered a whole different anime linked from Lucky Star. The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. Not much fanservice in the first two eps, but the order is really wonky (there's a reason; you'll understand once you get to know Haruhi). Ending DanceNothing to do with the anime, but fun fun fun! I so want to learn that dance. If you do want to watch it, the order is 2, 3, 5, 10, 13, 14, 4, 7, 6, 8, 1, 12, 11, 9.

I just discovered that ending dance. It's really catchy X3 ...Didn't know about the wonky order though... I'll give it a shot tomorrow. Edit: OK two things- 1) I love how in that video, the guy on the left shows absolutly no emotion while dancing XD 2) ;D

The order actually makes sense because of the main character. She's strange. She changes her hair everyday (for the first ep, anyway), joins clubs for one day, then quits when they're too boring, and has no interest in normal humans. Why? Because things are more fun that way.
So, if she put the anime in an order, it'd be a strange, convoluted one, because that's more fun than just watching them straight through.

Lucky Star felt like everything I ever hated about anime, all in one. But I enjoyed it anyway. As for Haruhi, I found it quite boring. Fanservice aside, I just found it completely uninteresting. They take ages explaining the whole world and each character's motivations so nothing interesting actually happens.
Gurren Lagann still wins though.
