I started watching Power Puff Girls Z. It's really weird. But very cute and kiddish. Though the transformation sequences take forever. Lucky Star is.... Is... so adorable! The animation style is so cuuuute! Though their random tangents are a bit boring. PS- If you've never been, go to www.crunchyroll.com It's got lotsa anime, and the Naruto Shippuuden episodes that are no longer on Youtube.

@dex-
Why didn't you tell me about crunchyroll.com sooner?
Do you know what it's like to watch the entire Bleach series from the beginning on youtube? Hell. Pure hell.

Well, I just found out about it a few days ago. ^^
I love searching the weird and quirky anime. They're so fun.

I just read most of Azumanga Daioh vol. 1 manga recently (I had it a long time ago but never got to read it), and I love it. The jokes seem different than the anime version (of which I got vols. 1-3 DVD).

Probably are. Manga and anime are never the same. Usually, the manga is far better than the anime (provided the anime was based on the manga). The only exceptions I've seen are Ouran and Wallflower. I can't speak for the action shows, since I don't read action manga. The speed lines give me headaches and I find things too hard to follow. Just watching the anime is easier on my poor brain.
If I don't like the anime, I won't bother with the title at all.

Ah, Dragon Ball Z. Loosely based on the legend of the Monkey King.
VERY loosely.
One of those animes I'd rather not have to sit through. I'd rather watch Saiyuki. I only like Yu-Gi-Oh as the abridged version done by LittleKuriboh on YouTube.

Amen. And one of only 2 where I liked the anime better than the manga.
The other is Wallflower, but that's finished at 25 episodes, yet the manga is still going. ><
Also, in neither of them to the two obviously-gonna-be-together people actually get together.

Well, is anyone here going to anime con, and/or been/going to an anime convention?
I haven't seen any new animes recently...too busy working on NDB cosplay. I got a dancer and a Yukika signed up. ^_^
I will say that I loved Demon Diary, and yet....gaah, not enough romance! They hinted so much, and not even a stinking kiss at the end!

@ Anime cons
I wish I could go to one. I'm not so much into the costumes stuff, but I'd love to go watch anime on a theatre screen and buy weird stuff from the shops. Especially if they have any oddball imports.
@ Azumanga Daioh
I read a few pages of Vol. 3 recently. Ah megami-sama... overdose of adorable, that thing. I really want to pick it up now.
@ Monkey King
Yeah, DB = really loosely based on the Monkey King. And by "loosely" I mean "there's a few roughly similar characters." Most of the similarities drop off after the first thirteen episodes.
There's an anime on Toon Disney called Shinzo that also strikes me as being Monkey King influenced, except instead of a priest travelling with a guardian monkey who flies on a cloud, its a girl travelling with a warrior who flies around on a UFO-looking thing. And a lot of the monsters want to catch the girl and eat her to become immortal or something, which again is just like the Monkey King story.
I couldn't really get into Saiyuki.
There was also a kinda weird adaption of the Monkey King in the 1960s, which got released in America as Alakazam the Great. It's kind of obscure, but if you get Showtime or Sundance it sometimes plays on those channels (that's how I got to see it). As I said its... really weird, rather Americanized (the Taoist priest that the MK learns his stuff from is recast as being Merlin the Magician, for example, and all the Buddhist gods have been renamed to Greek and Norse characters), and being the 1960s the dubbing is kinda Speed Racer-esque. "Halt! I am Hercules!" "I'll call you Jerkules!" (Talk about most overused joke ever...)
And finally on the list of Anime Monkey King adaptions, anyone remember Monkey Magic?

@anime cons. I love going to those. December just gone by we had ours, and being a first timer I cosplayed Yuna from FFX. Though, I didn't enter the comptetion they had for the cosplayers. But I got a lot of photos instead!
And this year I'll be attending, cosplaying Temari first costume from Naruto. My brother will be cosplaying as Gaara. (how coincidental) Basically we're having a huge Naruto group (which includes Sasuke, Ino, Kureni, and maybe Naruto himself and Rock Lee)

F.T. - Whoa, our group is all doing Naruto as well! (Has a few people steamed though...but it's one of the agreements - if you're gonna go, you gotta be a Naruto character). I'm going to be Ino, my boyfriend's Iruka, and my best friend is going to be Gai. I just got the skirt for one of my characters today (My sewing isn't the best, so whatever I can avoid making, I'm going to avoid).
Has anyone here finished Case Closed? I've got the first manga and I've seen a fair amount of episodes, but never up to the conclusion.
