None of them even look alike. If there were a bunch of people that looked the same, it'd be understandable, but the only other blonde was a little kid, and Chichiri was an adult...who wore a smiley mask. Oh well. It was still a good anime.

Eh, go figure. I never got the appeal of that, anyway. More colorful? Ouran was PLENTY colorful, and they had natural hair colors.
Natural for someone, anyway.

Probably so you can tell the characters apart more easily. Why not learn to draw more than one face and just give them normal looking hair?

Believe it or not, some animes and mangas DO have characters with normal-looking hair. Mainly for older readers and in shoujo.

With the whole hair thing, you've got to remember that a lot of the anime that does that is aimed at little kids and pre-teens. With that age group, you want to make things bright and colorful. Or at least colorful. Kids like that sort of thing.
And while we're at it... you guys are talking about hair colors in the MANGA, but... how can you tell? The manga are in black and white! (The covers are in color, but I learned long ago that you can't really go by that). Unless the author him/herself has specifically stated a hair color.
(and for the last time people, there is no such word as "animeS" and "mangaS." Drop the S)

Or at least colorful. Kids like that sort of thing. It can be nice if it's well done and fits a character's color scheme as a whole. Take One Piece for instance: while each character has a pretty weird hair color, they also have their own face, facial expressions and style of anatomy. Other anime "artists", however, use hair color as a way to try and make each character look different because they have problems drawing a variety of faces and body styles. I mean, look at Asuka and Rei from Evangelion. Is there ANY difference between them besides their hair colors? It's really not that hard; just make small changes if you're aiming for an unrealistic style. Eye size, nose shapes, anything. Just don't make all the characters look like copies of eachother; that's just creepy.

Blood type, birthday, hair color, etc.

Sorry it took me forever. I had a project in spanish and a test on a book that I read at the last minute and crap. But here is the link for KAMUI. You'll have to go to brocoli books to see the pics of the characters. my fave character is Aika and Shui. Anyways I hope you will like it. Like I said I'm probably won't be replying that often b/c of hw and crap. Especially since I got a new spanish teacher who I hate so much. on the project she accused of using a translator on line for the project (and I didn't) and if she suspected you used one she will give you a zero on it. So I am praying that I didn't get a zero. Sorry she is jsut making me mad. I don't need a zero b/c I am failing at the moment with a 60. Oh yeah the link. Here it is. sorry I didn't do it sooner. I was busy. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KAMUI_%28manga%29

There's only 6 out and I don't know if the 7th one comes out in April or May b/c on brocolibooks.com (probably spelled brocoli wrong) it says it comes out in April but on barnesandnoble.com com it says in May. I hope you like it b/c I am dying for the 7th one and I don't think I can wait any longer. If you want any spoilers I don't mind given them to you.

Speaking of which, I think I may be getting into Naruto. At first I was burned out from reading it in Shonen Jump, but I caught part of CN's Naruto marathon just now and... well... lets just say I'm looking foreward to the subtitled boxed set. If I can rent it first.

The show is pretty good..I think I'd be more into it if the dubbing weren't so awful, though.
