Collection games always seems to leave something out. In the Legend Og Zelda Collection, they left out A Link to the Past. In the yet to be release Mega Men Anniversary Collection, they left out Mega & Bass. That's because MM&B was recently rereleased for the Gameboy Advance. I assume it's the same for Zelda. BTW... WHAT Zelda collection? Mega Man & Bass sucks anyway (IMO). Easily an example of how the series has been going downhill.

Well, sorry that you didn't enjoy Mega & Bass as much as I did. We agree to disagree after all. And yes, there is a Collection for Zelda games for the Gamecube. Look it up on gameFAQs.

That collection seems to be missing not only LTTP, but also the Gameboy Zeldas (which is understandible). Odd that the collection only features the four games in the series that I like. Maybe I'm having some sort of cosmic influence? As for Mega Man... I generally consider Mega Man 7 to have been the start of a downward spiral in the series, and X4 does so for the X series. In both cases the games themselves were good, but they also started the trends which IMO ultimately ruined the serieses.

(Unless they were meant for the Game Boy.) I never saw any downfalls for the Mega Man series, but I do know what you mean in the X series.

I never saw any downfalls for the Mega Man series, but I do know what you mean in the X series. You do? ^__^ As for the regular MM series... There are a few points that bug me. Some of them have been better-stated by the owner of this page: www.mmhp.net/Commentaries/Decline.htmlOther points not covered in that article but that *I* certainly think are problems is that the fights and levels used to be creatively engineered. Now they're just plain annoying. And in Mega Man and Bass there are times when it's possible to still lose a battle even after you've already won (which IMO is just plain bad design, period). Such examples include the boss at the end of the first King/Dr. Wily stage. Though about Bass... at first I was fine with him, but then I thought about it and, well... he's basically like the Original Series' answer to Zero: he's meant to appeal to fanboys (note that practically his entire personality is a point-for-point rip off of DBZ's Vegeta). It bothers me to no end that the Mega Man series seems to be capitalizing on these "fan favorites" instead of concentrating on their title character. One thing I wanna mention is that, for X, I've always felt it was a bad idea to try and make it anything more than an AU, but now Capcom's gone and ruined everything by having the Zero/Wily connection... and even having one of the OS games have a scene where Wily shows Bass the Zero prototype. Can you say "Jump the Shark?"

Since we've been at it in this section, I've decided to give it a go with another topic. Here's my list of favorite games. Super Smash Bros. Melee Soul Blade (Or Soul Edge, the title on the arcade.) Soul Calibur (I was a bet disappointed with II) Resident Evil games Mega Man games Final Fantasy VI (It's a III in America.) Breath Of Fire III Warcraft games(Despite how bad the plot has become in Frozen Throne.) Kings Quest games I'm also fond with a lot of Nintendo and Capcom games. Cool choices! I LOVE the following: Super Smash Brothers Melee (Nintendo) Capcom vs. SNK 2 EO (Capcom) Soul Calibur 2 (Namco) Marvel vs. Capcom 2 (Capcom) BTW, SC 2 was awesome! I'm not changing your opinion or anything, but I like how it changed from the DC system to the Gamecube, PlayStation 2 and Xbox systems. I'm mostly a fan of fighting games though. These are my best 4.

I don't feel like quoting all them posts, so I'll just respond to random points and hope nobody edits them out/deletes them.
I just bought the Phantasy Star Collection last week when I recently finally bought the Gameboy Advanced. Cool having the first three games on one catridge. Though for PS1 I don't think I'll be playing it all the way through anytime soon due to its atrocious enemy attack sound effects (I don't know if it was always like that or because of it being on GBA) and very unbalanced difficulty (beginning enemies still hit hard despite my defense and leveling up...).
But like you said, James, it sucks Phantasy Star 4 (my favorite) isn't up there. But hey, maybe someday we'll see the GBA remake as its own game? That would be awesome.
And yeah, Earthbound was okay even with the flaws MaxK mentioned. It was nice seeing a cartoonish RPG with a modern day setting. I hope more games like them come up someday.
As for the article, I don't remember Rush suddenly disappearing. He was in MM7 and MM8. Did he mean Mega Man & Bass? If so, I don't think MM&B counts too much; I think it was more like a side-story or something, not a real addition to the main series. But I also thought it sucked both MM7 and MM8 started with four Robot Masters, and then the other four after you beat them. Okay, so there's some cutscenes after defeating the first four. Well, why couldn't they just have all eight available and have the cutscenes after beating at least four of them? Kinda like in Mega Man X2 & X3, there's a cutscene and mini-bosses become available in the stages after defeating two or three Mavericks.

Don't let little things like that stop you! PS1 is a classic. Just beware of the save bug (I personally always keep two save games--one I save in whenever I'm in town, and the other whenever I'm in a dangerous location--save CONSTANTLY). Unfortunately, the PSC didn't sell well enough to justify it. Personally I would've rather it had been included on the collection from the get-go. But ah well... there's always the Sega Genesis... She. And Rush was in MM8, but now he's a character who appears on his own for certain types of stages, instead of being something you can summon when you want/need him (not sure of the specifics here, having not played that one, but that's what I've heard from it's critics). Like it or not, MM&B DOES count. It is a Mega Man game after all, side-story or not.

I've read it, and the only thing I disagree with is Lack of Eight Bosses. I never saw it as a real problem. As for what you added, I had to save like crazy when it came to the King/Dr. Wily stages. But even then, I had to replay the second King/Wily stage about four times before I completed the game. I wondered how I despited that. As for Bass, I hardly played as him. I kinda don't like him that much.

Well.. in MM&B in particular, the order seemed so definite that I was wondering why they didn't just make it a level-by-level game, whereas earlier MMs were kinda freestyle and thus replayable.

Time to add Metroid up there. Okay, so the only two Metroid games I've played are the original Metroid for the NES, and its remake Metroid: Zero Mission for the GBA. Playing the latter made me remember how much I liked the game. And I'm glad I don't have to write down any long-arse passwords. ^_^ I'll probably buy Metroid Fusion (GBA) next.

I've only play three of the Metroid games.
Metroid of the NES Super Metroid of the SNES Metroid Prime of the GC
I never got seriously into the series, but Metroid was a fun game in my youth. I don't have a full opinion of Super Metroid. I didn't play it long enough. As for Meroid Prime, it was different from the other games, but it was still kinda fun overall! ;D

Found another favorite I didn't list earlier:
Doom.
Yea it's violent, yea it's full of not-quite-christian imagery, but it's still fun... at least, it's much better than today's "pretender" FPSes like Half-Life and Halo.

Adding Civ 3 to the list, because it's Civ 2 and a box of pocky. Chocolate pocky. Three guesses what Parron got as a (quite late) birthday present.
