School IS immoral and wrong.
Have you ever noticed that school is run like a prison? That's what they are--prisons for kids. Brainwashing camps, more like it, since 90% of the reason school exist is to brainwash kids into believing certain ideologies.
Step back and look at the values school teaches kids. Most of us (okay, ALL of us) are told that the reason to go to school and graduate is so we can have a high-paying job. They never tell you that over half the people who graduate college still have to start entry-level and at minimum wage, nor do they tell you that some of the most successful people in America never graduated College (Bill Gates is one such example). They also never get around to the importance of finding a job you feel comfortable with or enjoy, or even suggest that life shouldn't be about hoarding money or collecting personal possessions. They ingrain kids to believe that they need to horde as much money as they can and that one's personal value is in what they buy from Wal-Mart. In short they brainwash kids into being consumers.
Another thing is politics. Schools ingrain political ideology into people. Have you ever noticed that there's only two political parties--Republican and Democrat? Why aren't there more? Because school teaches people that only those two are valid, and that you MUST be one or the other. School applies this kind of ideology to nearly everything--people have trouble thinking outside the box because school spends so much time telling them that there is nothing outside the box, and that if they don't say it, it isn't true.
School teaches our kids all sorts of disgusting things. They tell you that Patriotism is Good--unless you're being patriotic to any country but America. They teach you a sense of National Superiority, convincing our kids that American citizens are the greatest people on Earth and that everyone else is immoral and degenerate. Sure, they tell you that its bad to be racist, but only within American borders--its wrong to hate black people, but its perfectly alright to hate Iraqis, especially since school teaches kids that "America = the Good Guys, everyone else = bad."
School teaches kids no morals, except that "if it helps you, its good. If it goes against you, its bad."
The absolute WORST thing about School, however, is that it teaches our kids that some people are superior, whether it be due to money, political power, or just a better physique. It teaches you that if you aren't one of the up-and-coming bunch, then you're part of the "lower class" of people who equate to the disgustingly-termed "human trash."
School does not prepare you for the world at all--it teaches you to live in this hopeful fantasy where if you do what they say, you get rewarded with a nice happy fairy-tale ending.
Here's the truth about the world: Your schooling is a waste of time. The only thing you'll ever need is reading and math. Once you've got those two, you can do your own learning through sources like the internet (which teaches you more than school ever will). The key to true happiness isn't to be rich or a mindless consumer, its to prioritize, think about what you have, and find what means the most to you and go for that. Hoarding up money won't make you happy--in fact I learned the hard way that having too much actually isn't as good as it sounds. Oh yea, right now you sit there, thinking about all the Cameros and neat tuxedos and DVDs you bought, but after awhile you'll look at those and wish you hadn't wasted your money on stuff you obviously didn't want, but only bought out of a mindless, school-ingrained sense of consumerism. Then you'll spend all your time down-talking anyone who doesn't value (or didn't complete) school in a vain attempt to convince yourself that those twenty or so years you lost out of your life actually went to a good purpose, when deep inside you know they didn't.
Especially when reality hits you: You're not better than anyone else. It doesn't matter if you live in a mansion or have millions of dollars, or have been through five years of college. You still have to eat, you still have to sleep, you still need to run to the bathroom every once in awhile. When you get hurt, you still feel pain, and one day you'll have to be lowered into a grave (or cremated), just like every other human being and every other living thing on this planet. Where will your money, your power, and your education be then? It doesn't matter--you'll be too dead to care.
That's the truth about life: You're not better than anyone else, unless you're immortal. More than likely you aren't, so instead of living in this fairy-tale "follow School and I'll be rich!" fantasy, its better to simply enjoy the short life you have. Find something to love, and brew some happy memories to share with your friends, because in the end those are going to be the only thing that matters.
There are some things I would like to have done differently when I was in school. I would've liked to have been more rebellious, more independent, more free-spirited. I would've liked to have talked back to teachers on a regular basis (though to be fair most of mine were actually kind of nice), and it would've been awesome if I had managed to actually skip a class... I almost did it once, but the school brainwashing caused me to get paranoid of getting caught and I ended up going anyway.
Well, whatever, live and learn and then hope I didn't scare anybody.
