YUP this is my second fave sow and I feel like chattin about it so any fans in ere....also jus so ya know I'm not gonna know alot about the characters right now cause I've only seen like 4 or 5 eps so you guys can teach me about it if you watch it so let's chat  |

so I'm the only fan ere? ? I don't mind Inu-Yasha. I've seen the anime and have read the first of the graphic novels. However it's not Rumiko Takahashi's best work (that honor has to go to either Ranma 1/2 or the Rumic World or Mermaid Saga serieses). |

Inu-Yasha??? I Love Inu-Yasha! I've read books 1-29!! Well, the english translations for them anyways...  I just don't like the english dubbing for the anime... they can't even say the names right!  |

I haven't heard a mispronounced name yet... but I haven't read all the manga either so... If you want a screwed up dub, try Cardcaptors, Yu-Gi-Oh, or Mega Man NT Warrior. I have nothing against any of these three (remember I've got a Yu-Gi-Oh page) I'm just speaking the truth: The english-language versions do a LOT more than just change the language spoken... As opposed to Inu-Yasha, which is a fine dub which is almost completely spot-on, and there's next-to-no edits made (and then only on Adult Swim--the DVDs, which include both language versions, also are completely unedited). And furthermore it's actors can actually act, to boot. |

I ask because I tried to take Japanese once, and one of the things I learned was the vowels: "a" is supposed to sound like "ah" and "e" is supposed to be pronounced "eh." Thus it should be "Kah-eh-de" (though the e following the a so closely could've made it sound like "Kay"). What episode does Kaede appear in? I'll have to rent the DVDs and listen to the Japanese language track. But as for mispronounced names, try Lupin the 3rd... "Lupin" constantly becomes "Lupahn" (I'm not even sure HOW they keep managing to make that mistake) and "Goemon" sometimes becomes "Goyamon." Fujiko's last name is Mine, which is supposed to be pronounced Me-neh. You can guess how they messed it up... |

The characters and major plotlines were largely the same, but they kept trying to add modern references (having the characters mention The Simpsons etc) in order to hide the fact that the show was made in hte 70s (as if you couldn't tell from the animation). I'll have to see if I can rent an Inu-Yasha DVD sometime. I really wish Viz would hurry it up! |

That store gets the tapes directly from Japan so I get to see the Inu episodes only a few months after they're aired there. ;D |

Heh. If I knew Japanese, I'd go that route for Lupin the 3rd. I don't even know japanese and I still watch Inu w/o subtitles... I can still tell whats going on, though, because I already know the story. But those filler episodes that they only have in the anime have got me totally confused.  ; |

But I admire the intelligence of Lupin's various plans and heists, and a lot of humor is hidden in the dialogue, so I'd miss something if I had it without knowledge of Japanese (or subtitles). That and unlike Inu-Yasha, I don't believe Lupin follows the manga all that much... though then again I haven't read as much of it as I would've liked. *Sigh* I'd get caught up on Inu-Yasha if all my anime resources weren't directed towards Ranma and Lupin right now. |
