Perhaps it does for some people. For me it makes him a one-trick pony.

Okay, I see where you're going with the "3/4 is overrated and it makes them ignore the rest of the world" stuff, but I really don't think that's true at all.
Sure in fanfics they ignore the rest of their team, but you can't let fanfics influence your opinion of the actual characters in the actual show. I know in BEACH they did, but that was a *3/4* episode. You know how Mr. W usually bases episodes on different topics. Well that one was 3/4.
And a little kid romance never hurt anyone. Maybe to some people it's unkiddish, but I can name tons of people who had girlfriends when they were under 13. Plus the blushy, huggy, 'everyone knows we like each other but us' thing is pretty realistic for kids. I know I had it with someone all throughout 2nd and 3rd grade XD.
Wally has his own character outside of Numbuh 3, but the fact that he has a soft spot for her just further developes his character. It's just... part of Numbuh 4. It's a pretty cute concept that they like each other, since they're pretty much the most opposite people on the team. I can really see why Mr. W picked them to have the canon crush out of sector V. ^^ C'mon! The happy-go-lucky-cute-n-sweet-asian girl with the I-don't-like-girly-stuff-tough-guy-Australian-blonde boy? C'moooon. *wiggles eyebrows* Ya gotta admit it's a cute concept.
And they have the foundation of friendship! "The best foundation for any relationship." XD wooooooo! *shot*
People have lost interest before in 3/4 because it's unoriginal, the other annoying 3/4 shippers, and they're looking for something "different"... I never got that concept. I like what I like, regardless of what other people say or do.
*hugs Wally and Kuki* I say let them have their crush! XD yay.

Oh, I completely agree with you:) And yes, they really look cute together.Especially because Wally is shorter than Kuki. And for some reason, I like couples where boy is blonde and girl has dark hair...

I like what you say, Limey, but I don't quite agree with all of it. People have lost interest before in 3/4 because it's unoriginal, the other annoying 3/4 shippers, and they're looking for something "different"... I never got that concept. I like what I like, regardless of what other people say or do. That works. For me, most of the reason I got out of 3/4 is because... well, back when I wrote 3/4 fanfics, the couple just felt so *fake* to me... well, not really "fake," just not dynamic enough. It's "cute," but "cute" only works so far and really has limited uses as either a character trait or a plot device. There's only so many times you can write cute-playful crush before it gets boring, not to mention there's only so many plotlines you can get that revolve around a crush. In the end, it's basically just something to fall back on when you can't come up with a REAL storyline. To be fair, 1/3 became boring for pretty much the same reason.

I can't say I agree with you. Numbuh Three and Numbuh Four's relationship is more than just a playful crush (although that is one aspect); they're good friends, along with the rest of sector V. Example, they're just as close as Numbuhs one and five are.
They both have character traits you can write stories about, you just have to look for them. You gotta give 3 and 4 more credit than saying they're just a cute/playful crush. It's not like they act all lovey-dovey crushy around each other 24/7. They're just good friends who happen to like each other, I don't see why that's boring.

What I did say is that if all you concentrated on is the crush, it would get boring. It seems to me like we basically agree on that point.

Well, yeah. The trick is not to concentrate only on their crush. Is that why you don't like 3/4 anymore?

Well, yeah. The trick is not to concentrate only on their crush. Is that why you don't like 3/4 anymore? Pretty much, yea. It seems like everyone, including Tom at times, forgets that there's more to either character than just their crush. American-made cartoons don't have particularly interesting romances anyway, mostly because the couples are usually decided right in the very first episode and with no room for change or variation. Sonic is in love with Sally, Prince Adam loves Teela, Jake Long loves Rose, etc. Interesting romance, as I believe I said elsewhere, has to have dynamics, like the first season of Robotech: Most of what makes Rick Hunter's and Lisa Hayes' relationship so interesting is that we get to see how they go from hating each other to being completely in love over the span of 20+ episodes, not just "Oh look, they're in love!"

I think it's cute, but I can see how people wouldn't like a pairing thats stressed too much in the show.

yea, but if there wouldn´t, ppl would whine that "Why isn´t there enough 3/4 proof..." Typical!

yea, but if there wouldn´t, ppl would whine that "Why isn´t there enough 3/4 proof..." Typical! Actually, I highly doubt people would complain about that. I mean, look at all the couples people like that aren't really supported by the show... how many people complain "those couples don't have enough proof"?
