I just don't think someone has to be an annoying nag to get Nigel's attention/affection. There are other ways- Nigel seems to like being at ease with himself, and I think a subtle approach could work. While Nigel can be self-absorbed, he can be also be considerate. Such is the flexiblity of his character.
By 'life', I think you mean all the time and energy spent in one's lifetime? If so, then of course no one would want Abby floundering after Nigel, devoting her entire being to him, only to have his turn up his nose and ignore her. But I don't think he actions would go completely unnoticed, if displayed in the right way.
I cannot speak for Goldenflither, but I can say that I find 1/5 on the 'mysterious' side because it's not INYOURFACE all the time. You do a bit of exploring of character to make it plausible.

Numbuh 5 seems as if she really would dedicate her life to him. I've got to admit that its a very likely chance. You've seen the way she acts when he's in the slightest bit of danger. There's no arguing with that. Consider this: Numbuh 1 is in a life or death situation with, maybe, Father. The only way Numbuh 5 can stop it is if she turned herself in instead of Numbuh 1. How many people think she wouldn't do it? Out of all honesty. I'm suddenly arguing with myself because she could do that with anybody who's life was at risk. But you do see my point, hopefully..

Here is a defenation-Platonic love in its modern popular sense is an affectionate relationship into which the sexual element does not enter, especially in cases where one might easily assume otherwise. A simple example of platonic relationships is friendship between two heterosexual people of the opposite sexes. Manily I cant see them more then just friends.

The word 'platonic' was used reapeatedly when arguing against Harry/Hermione as well. That's how I recognize it, personally.
I personally find 1/5 the farthest thing from platonic, merely because I probably interpret their 'moments' differently than you.

*stays in place* Point well taken. ;;
Well, the way I figured digigirl explained it, I figure that 1/5 could be considered slightly platonic, however thats in the cases of people who do not prefer 1/5 over other couples. The reason is that, even though I do not watch Harry Potter, I'd figure that Harry and Hermoine looked like good friends but can be described to a romantic side of them. However, I can't really tell you that since I don't watch the show.
1/5, through what I've seen in the Harry Potter commercials, has the same sort of relationship that Harry and Hermoine have. Who's to say there's no crushing or love betweem each couple?
PS: And then Ron/Hermoine can be 2/5. xD Just a thought..

Well, I don't think that'd be rightly fair, considering how Ron/Hermione has been portrayed. I've see it as angsty, and Ron and Hermione fight heatedly because of sexual tension...or something.
I don't see Hoagie/Abby like that. At all. I don't think they can really be compared, considering the age jump.
