If you want me to add another reason why I like 1/5, I will oblige- it reminds me of other couples I'm fond of, like AangxKatara from Avatar: TLA, and even a bit of RobinxRaven, from Teen Titans. This is totally and completely off topic, but omg - BBxRae supporter right here. XD I don't really have an OTP for Avatar...I just watch for the story (and only occasionally D: ) and the characters. XDD I thought I was getting BBxRae vibes from you. Do you frequent other BBxRae forums?- because I'm no stranger at those sites. I'm known as 'unifilar' at most places, but also as 'sorarocksmysocks' at a few. Maybe we've talked before.

-cough- Um..in any attempt to keep on topic...here's a rather interesting tale of which I'm eager to tell-
A long time ago, I got the plot bunny that was about two spies meeting by chance fifty years after they had worked together so closely. The style of the story was going to be unique to anything I had ever done, but it's rather hard to explain, so I'll continue- in any case, in the end, the two people realize rekindled feelings for each other and start a relationship- unbeknownst to them, the whole thing had been set up by an old enemy of theirs. That was as far as I got in the plot.
When I watched KND, Abby and Nigel's characters reminded me distinctly of the ones I had designed for my story. It perked my interest, and was just one of the many factors that 1/5 is my obsession today.

I don't like the couple...I LOVE IT!!! cause they're perfectly for each other, they've the same personality But that's exactly why they wouldn't be perfect for each other. They're too alike, it would be boring and they would fight too much. |

If it really bothers you, I can just put it all in double parentheses, or something. =_=; Nah, I'm not really in the TT fandom at all. There's something about the show that irks me...I can't put my finger on it, but it's definitely there. I watch mainly for the characters (well, not Robin - boy, get over yourself). When I do watch, though, I tend to enjoy it, but not enough to frequent TT forums. I do have a bunch of TT fanart bookmarked on DeviantART, however. No wonder we get along. XD Aaaaaand I'm off topic. Again. |

I like 1/5 because they just seem to fit. I know that doesn't sound clear, so let me explain...
Numbuh 1 is a guy who is smart and dedicated to his job. He likes to work too much and is rather stressed, concerned, and a great leader. He has a girlfriend named Lizzie.
Numbuh 5 is a girl who is also smart, and balances resting with her job. She doesn't dedicate her whole life to work, but still has an appropriate amout of time to work. She is level-headed, calm, and good second-in-command. She is currently single.
So why do they fit together? Well I think its because they've got some things in common, and other things different. The way this works is that they won't find each other completely boring because they have too much in common, and yet won't be on two separate paths because they have too little in common. The two of them together would complete each other. For instance; Numbuh 1 dedicates his life to work too much, so Numbuh 5 is there to pull him back and help him relax (which has been made quite clear over the past few seasons). And they both are smart and know what their doing, which helps them with their teamwork.
Also, Numbuh 5 seems to really care about Numbuh 1. Throughout almost every single episode that the two have been in together, Numbuh 5 is always expressing some sort of concern and care for Numbuh 1; with the rescuing, and the screaming his name, and...oh, you know what I'm talking about, right? *chuckles*
Sound familiar?
Anyways, I'm sure most of you agree with me when I say that Numbuh 5 really would dedicate her life for Numbuh 1. I mean, come on; she travelled the desert and fought with a gi-huge-ic candy monster just to get Numbuh 1's birthday present. She really does care. Just like the way she cared for Maurice in Operation: M.A.U.R.I.C.E. *gasp!* There's something to think about.
I guess the main reason I like 1/5 so much is because it gives you something to think about. It's mysterious and you've really got to set your mind to it to understand where the hints of 1/5 are.
Give it some thought. Maybe someday the opposers will reconsider.

Goldenflither, your argument (on the whole) makes sense. There are a few bits I disagree with here and there, but this stood out to me. (Pardon me if I take this with a romantic connotation - you are talking about 1/5 as a romantic couple, after all.) Anyways, I'm sure most of you agree with me when I say that Numbuh 5 really would dedicate her life for Numbuh 1. Ah, yes, but would workaholic Nigel reciprocate? Relationships aren't one-sided. Lizzie can handle Nigel because she's so pushy. Abby, while certainly a very strong and independant woman, doesn't have the drive (I think) to ellicit romance from Nigel. Lizzie won't stop until Nigel shows her some form of affection. I think that Abby, somewhere along the line, would rezlize that her efforts weren't worth her time. I respect Abby's ability to make rational decisions, and that makes the most sense to me. Abby's not about to go and throw herself undividedly on one man. |

However, Nigel didn't exactly appreciate it, and I think that's the point you were trying to make. What I think is that the relationship /won't/ be one-sided, if they were together. Because if they were a couple, it'd be a whole different ballgame.
Lizzie doesn't get the affection specifically because she's pushy. She gets the affection because Nigel knows she cares about him. But I think that the ways that she shows she cares might become irksome to Numbuh 1 over time.

My point was that that was one incident - she wouldn't give her life over to someone else. A lot of hard work and time, but not her life, which is what goldenflither seemed to be implying. Abby, I think, would want the attention and respect she deserves from Nigel without having to drag it out of him. As for the Lizzie thing, I meant that Lizzie would be the one to get more of a response out of Nigel. This is not to say that her forward nature is the sole thing that keeps the relationship going. Nigel obviously likes Lizzie. She's the one who will get him to admit it on a regular basis. Sure, Lizzie can be a nag, but Nigel's very self-absorbed. There's that balancing-out thing you were talking about. How is 1/5 mysterious?  ; |
