I hope I don't get killed for doing this but......
I've heard a lot of things about slashes in KND but I'm just asking that is it really necessary making slashes for KND I mean the show is only about a super gigantic organization by kids who fight adult tyranny. My point is that these are just 10 year olds...... and do you thik that 10 year olds are crushing on other people the same gender and don't you think some people got to far with the slashes? Some people think of romance ideals for a 10 year old show too far if there is not a lot of proof that the characters actually do like each other? (such as 3/4) If Mr.W gives us enough proof that there is a chance for the couple than there is a couple, but if there is not enough proof for a couple but only few hints (like 2/5) the best we can do for that couple is to hope it comes official. My final point is: Isn't slashes a bit extreme for this show?
Please don't ba me or give me a warning though, I just signed up to day and it is only my humble opinion about slashes in KND. No flames!!!! PLEASE!!!

Slash has an appeal that not everybody sees. I don't see it. As an extreme oversimplification, a lot of people slash because it's hot.

I'm not a slash fan, much less the male-male kind, so I don't see the "subtext" that all the slashers seem to be seeing. I think Shwoo pretty much said it.
Edit: Have you noticed femmeslash is almost non-existent except in cartoons/anime with a very female-dominant cast? i.e. Sailor Moon, CardCaptor Sakura, possibly Totally Spies, etc. It seems it's all maleslash slashers; almost no one ever tries to find subtext between two females.

Some people do, but since the majority of fanfic writers are teenaged girls, femslash is mostly ignored. I once saw a fic which had 5/Lizzie... It wasn't the main focus of the fic.

I don't like slash because it's "hot", it's just for fun. That being said, I'd never write a kidslash fic. (This from one who has yet to finish her first fanfic.) It crosses too many boundaries. Teenslash and adultslash are fine.
I'm not surprised to hear there's SpongeBob slash out there. The general assumption is SpongeBob and Pattrick are lovers, and Squidward is gay. Again, it doesn't bother me. It's a kid's cartoon, but the adult humor flies right over my kids' heads.

just to get a lil off topic.. spongebob slash is more common to find because there have been hints that spongebob likes patrick more than a friend(the episode where they raised a shellfish/clam named "junior") but like i said most sash fanfics take place in the knd teen years or as an adult..

As you should all know by now (is it getting annoying? xD), I am a big fan of slash. But as you can see for my signature (*points below*), I also support het and femslash. Infact, maleslash isn't even one of my very favorite couples (those being 1/86, 2/5 and 86/362). I actually don't support that much slash in the KND fandom. But if you think I'm bad here, God help you if you see me in the South Park fandom. xD
Admittedly, I have written a story with preteen slash in it (femslash, actually). But that's life, isn't it? There are plenty of people who discover their sexuality before adolescence. They may not get into relationships or anything, but simple crushes do happen (and more often than you might think).
Why do people like slash so much, you ask? To be honest, I don't really know. True, it has a lot to do with teenage hormones simply liking the "hotness" of slash. And fangirls also like the humor of it. But it's mostly about their personalities fitting well together, more than anything else.
But my point is that there will always be slash fans. I am yet to find a fandom that doesn't have them. And it's something that just has to be accepted. *shrug*

Believe it or not, one of the reasons that slash writers tend to be female is that subconciously, slash is indicative of a non-threatening relationship. Without a woman on the scene to take the stereotypical part of the submissive side, the characters in a slash relationship are thought of more as equals. If you notice, most mangas (and many fanfics) involving slash focus more on the emotional side of the couple, showing that both sides must come to terms before they can successfully be together.
Furthermore, I think all the anti-slashers get worked up over the "you can't slash 10 year olds!!!" for no real reason. More often than not, the KND fanfic authors who are pairing up small children are doing it with het couples.... the slashers tend to wait until the characters are older.

Gawd, that was REALLY disturbing

I don't think impossible for the KND to have crushes on the same gender. From what I seen when a child does crush on his/her own gender only blushing or innocent stuff like that.( or just gender confusion) Nothing beyond(That's for fans to decide what they do when they're older hee hee ;D) Tomanyo(can't spell it) from Card Captor Sakura and Yuri and Kumi from Alien9 are examples of innocent femslash crushes. And believe it or not Slash DOES exist in KND(AKA Mr Fibb and Mr Wink) they just can't make it obvious. Plus for those of us who remember H.O.S.P.I.T.A.L Numbuh1 does NOT know where babies come from. He doesn't know the difference between boys and girls or why the boys and girls even fight with each other like Numbuh86 does or what difference it even makes so he's VULNERABLE. His parents NEVER told him about the bird and the bees or anything important like that so that could lead him into a different direction and end up falling for another boy without realizing why people would tell him it's important to fall for a girl(or to gender confusion) Oh yeah, and in L.O.V.E I was surprised they were gonna let Kuki kiss the GIRLS along with the guys though it was a play and people already said their two cents in the episode section about F.E.R.E.L. Al tough I like certain HUMAN slash, I will say this I absolutely HATE ANIMAL slash!!! I CAN'T STAND or tolerate having animals think that way. Animals have INNOCENT strait minds, that's different from human beings, when it comes to love, they would just think of opposite genders and my cat sure get confused and offended every time she hears about it. And even if Spongebob(being a thing) did like Patrick like that, Patrick loves Mindy and Spongebob likes Sandy too anyway. I only expect to see gays animals in 'South Park'(the people there must've screwed them up )To me slash is NONE of the straight minded animal's business. I'll just stick to HUMAN slash like ND and South Park, thank you.

It was all over the news. They were given an egg and they've been raising the baby together for the past few months. I love how you say that slash is okay, but animals have innocent minds so they can't be gay. That gives slashing a negative connotation, because people who are gay are, supposedly, "corrupt". Way to contradict yourself.

ahem.
"but I'm just asking that is it really necessary making romantic pairings for KND I mean the show is only about a super gigantic organization by kids who fight adult tyranny. My point is that these are just 10 year olds......"
you can't differenciate between het and slash. either it's appropriate to write all types of romance for a show, or it's not appropriate to put any.
I fail to see how writing a fanfic where 3 and 4 make out is any more true to what the show is about than writing one where two of the boys do the same thing. Unless you're automatically classifying slash as something bad, something perverted and wrong...? Which would be pretty ignorant of you. xD

I'm about of the opinion that, as far as KND is concerned, NO romance is necessary.
Of course, I'm sure someone would disagree. ^__^
