Pure endurance. ^^
Here's the summary from IMDB:
François Pignon, a very bland sort of man who works as an accountant in a rubber factory, is about to be fired. His new neighbour comes up with an idea to prevent such a thing to happen: he spreads the rumor that he's gay so that the factory management might be afraid they'll be sued for sexual discrimination. Of course, nothing happens as it should, but the changes in François Pignon's life -and other people's too- is drastic.

Oooooh! It's a synopsis for a movie!
A movie I think I know about, actually.
I see.
Must have missed when it was first brought up which is why your post struck me as so odd.

Probably. I asked if anyone had heard of the Closet first.

OK folks, we have two pages to go until Thread XII. So post away! Up and at it!
But no thread bumping, or you risk having the Old Ones sleeping in R'lyeh coming after the lot of us.

*flop*
I should be getting at least a C in my Stats class even if I bomb the second project, thank God.
And now I have an hour to work on my writing project. ^^
I dunno WHY God gives me all these time breaks. I'm such a procrastinator, you'd think He'd wanna teach me a lesson. *shrug* I appreciate it, Big Guy!

Interestingly enough, I, too, will get at least a C[1] in my Stochastic Processes class even if I bomb the final (sixth) part of my exam.
However I am putting some effort into not bombing.
[1] Well, 8/10, but same difference.

8/10 is a B.
I really need to put more effort into studying. I do'nt have anymore English classes or electives to keep my GPA up. ><

FF is right. 8/10 = 80/100 = 80% is a C.
9/10 is a B.
@ff
When are you finally going to be finished with your exams? School for you seems to be going on forever. When's your summer break?

97% = C = that's bleepin' stoopidity.
Take tough classes, you'd KILL for that kind of grade.
Tell your teacher that your American friend thinks they're an idjit. Oh wait, you'll be ground up and fed to the shoggoths. I take it back.
;D
@astronomy camp
Gads, I'd love to go and chill at something like that. It would get me out of this madhouse for a while. But childcare is all on me...(I live in a male chauvinist hogland, not an equal say for all household) so it remains a fantasy. They're nice to have, though.

Dunno where you guys go to school, but around here, 80 is a B. Yes, I know 8/10 is .80. I'm a finance major, for heaven's sake.

...If an 80 was a B at my school, then my parents would be way happier with my report card.
SUCCESS! My evil baby tooth finally came out! Now I hope the other one will actually grow in properly (You know, since it's already started growing)

Yay! ;D Hehe, the same thing happened with me when I was losing my baby teeth. By the time one fell out, there would already be a new tooth there that had usually half-way finished growing already. Yikes. @weird grades The year I took my GCSEs, in Art you had to get 98% to get an A*, but apparently that's usual for Art. But in my mock exams, the maths non-calculator exam was super difficult so all the grades were lowered. For example, I got 29% and that was a high B. Talk about crazy. I'm liking college though. In the course I'm taking, there are no exams whatsoever. It all comes down to the coursework, which I find a lot less stressful personally. @0xff (re: 97% C) A similar thing happened to my brother a few months ago. He got 90something% in a test but could only get a C because he's taking the foundation exam. There's also an intermediate one (I think that allows up to an A) and a higher one (which goes up to A*) but no matter what he gets in the one he's taking he can only be given a C. But if you're getting 97% then I definitely think they should let you take that extra super special exam!

Allow me to further expound upon the absurdity of my situation:
1) This 97% figure happens to be the best result in the class. The runner up has 92%. About 70% of the class failed.
2) If I had 100% that'd still be a 'C'.
3) I already did five tests in this subject. Passed and achieved 95%+ on every single one of them.
4) There is no way to get an 'A' (or a 'B') except to take the 'extra' exam which amounts to doing the whole bloody course again only harder questions, less time and in person.
Then again this is the same teacher who gave an *unsolvable* problem for a final one year. Note that I don't mean "too hard to solve", no, I mean a problem for which there can't be a solution. It's even mathematically provable. Lovely.
@ng
Heyyy! Been away a while, have you? What's up? Down? Sideways?
@re: coursework vs. exams
I vastly prefer it that way too. Unfortunately only about half my professors actually adopt this enlightened approach. The others go for old-fashioned exams and some rare basket-cases (like the one previously mentioned) demand coursework, midterms, lab AND exams. I expect they'll be asking for my immortal soul next.
Unless they already keep it in a jar somewhere, 'course. Wouldn't put it past them.
What are you studying NG? Animation was it? How's that turning out? Coolness abounds?

XD I hadn't actually realised how long I'd been away. Not really sure why exactly but there you go! Hmm... I blame it on my long and boring search for a summer job (trying to get a bit of work experience done before next semester)! And yes, I'm studying animation. It's a lot of fun - which I'm thankful for since it involves tons of work. I don't know if anyone else here has this problem at college though, but in my course none of the teachers ever seem to know what we're supposed to be doing or how we should go about the coursework. So we never know if we've done the work right until it gets handed in. A bit weird, and kinda risky... but I suppose it teaches responsibility! And it's not just my course - a lot of other people I know from other courses and even other colleges have the same problem. Yet somehow everyone ends up with good grades - that's always nice, but it just doesn't make sense at the time. *raises eyebrow*
