I think we better talk to Stardrift about this. I'm still confused. But if Stardrift knows about this, maybe she'll know that this is a spam topic. If you want to know more about spams, go to the newbies board. You know, I'm not a moderator. If I am one, I would close this topic Or either delete it. I'm trying to help you guys.

by that reasoning, my "Crazy, Silly Couples" thread is Spam too. So is practically the entire Role-Play board, the "Let's Name the Delightful Children!" Thread, and other threads that are just for fun and serve no practical purpose. Well, even though the "Crazy, Silly Couples" and the "Let's Name the Delightful Children!" threads are light-hearted and just for fun, people who post there are SERIOUSLY saying what they REALLY think. The thread isn't just a big hoax. If the "Let's Name the Delightful Children!" thread was like this one, it would go like this: "I asked Mr. Warburton and he said that their names are 'Ib', 'Lou', 'Cappy', 'Mandarin', and 'Leonard Jr.'" and then when people ask, "Really?", you respond with, "No, I was joking! Mr. Warburton would never name them that!" except worse than that, because the title of the thread would be "I found out the DCs' names!" and your post would be the first one. There's a difference between being just for fun and truthful and being just for fun and lying. And when you lie for fun, it has to have a reason. When you post a topic that asks for people's opinions just for the heck of it (for example, "What instrument do you think #86 plays?"), the topic has a purpose by default: to get other people's opinions. The same goes for the two examples you gave. As for role-plays, they don't really have that much purpose. That's why they have their own section.

Yeah, I partially agree with you, But there are many types of people in the world, with different opintions of what is funny, what isn't what's important, and what's not..
Because he's new, Maybe he just wanted to test us and see how we'd react to a thread like this? Yeah, it's a bit wierd, But look, It did spark up an interesting conversation .. and basically, isn't that what message boards is are all about? Talking to people, getting to know people, and making friends? I say, Let this go as non-spam.. he wasn't advertising anything, and no one was fighting, or causing too much trouble. He was just trying to get to know us ;D He's just got a different sense of humor than most ;D hehehe

I knew right away it was a joke, and obviously wasn't spam (don't u have to be a registered member w/ a valid email address to post?) I think, the more diverse opinions, people, humour, jokes and so forth on this board, the better.

Well, you guys raised interesting posts, but you guys also must consider that MaxK and I set up this board's definitions for spam a long time before Juachoerin came, and those definitions take precedence, and they aren't limited to the same definitions as e-mail spam. I think that this topic falls under our definitions of spam, and being registered with a valid e-mail doesn't really change anything.
But anyway, I'm not really mad. I just don't think this thread had any purpose and that the discussion resulting from it wasn't very interesting. I'm not saying that people can't joke around or be sarcastic or be unserious, but I think it should be done in a way that's clearer.

Now I really feel bad. I would never have posted that if I knew it would lead to such a fight. I guess no one has posted that EXACT kind of "joke" on this board before, and nobody knew what to make of it. If so, then whether it constitutes spam is a question that's never come up yet and needs to be answered now--so nobody's really "wrong" now. Make whatever rule you want about it, but be assured that in any case I'll clearly identify all jokes as jokes from now on. And that kind of joking isn't something I do every day, anyway. I do have a wacky sense of humor, but I'm at my best when I'm serious (like this) www.berkeleyhigh.org/features/slang and so I'll just try to keep mostly on the serious side from now on. But I hope everyone will believe me when I say that I was never lying or hoaxing or trying to deceive you. I understand your feeling; you thought I really meant "No 3/4, no way, never!" and then when I explain that I didn't mean it, that sounds to you like "Ha ha, I fooled you!" But I meant for you to understand in the first place that I was kidding. I thought the sheer ABSURDITY of the things I said (not about 3/4 but about MYSELF, like spending a year researching Bible passages, cracking codes, and doing tons of math--over two kids who don't even exist) would be sufficient to make it obvious what I was doing. I've been posting for a long time on several other boards, mostly about South Park and the Powerpuff Girls, and I've done this particular kind of "joke" many times. Everyone on those boards has always known that I'm joking when I do it, and they just laugh at the joke and move on. It's a bizarre kind of joking, and I'm the only one there who does it, but they never misunderstand or get upset or call it spam. Maybe my mistake was doing it here when I had just joined and nobody knew anything about me yet. Anyway, all I want now is for you guys to cheer up and go back to having fun on the board, which is what it's meant for. I came along and spoiled the fun without meaning to, and once again I apologize.

I know why you feel bad, but I wouldn't worry about it so much because I don't think we were really arguing. Tako and I (and I guess JB.) just wanted people to be completely aware that creating threads that are jokes or hoaxes is also spam. You're not in serious trouble and no one is mad at you. So don't you worry.

Hehe, yeah.. we arn't mad, and definatly not fighting.. sheesh, If you think that's fighting, you should see some of the boards i find myself on.. man, it'd be terrifying Hehe, this is a great board, and most of the time, there is no big problems.. the biggest problem the admin has, was people joining up multiple times, and never posting under any of them Man, i wish that was my biggest problem. That's like, My Utopia ;D Hehe, you guys-- this message board is great ;D

Yeah. I was kind of like "Huh?" at first. Not really mad. Now I'm not really sure when you're being serious and when you're not. (Note your Pochahontas post..)

I'll show you what I mean. Those who have seen the South Park movie will remember that Kenny first dies and goes to Hell, but at the end he goes to Heaven after saving the world from Armageddon. About two years ago I wrote an imaginary additional scene in which it appears that Kenny will have to stay in Hell forever, though he doesn't deserve it, because of a technicality--and then a little girl "transfers" him to Heaven by hacking into the "Heaven and Hell computer system."
Then I went on all the South Park message boards crying "I found a deleted scene from the movie!" and posted that, claiming the film was supposed to end that way but they cut that scene out because they didn't have room for it. If anyone had believed it, they would have been mad at me when they found out the truth--and rightly so. But I knew no one would believe it, and no one did. Most of them liked it, and laughed at it; but they knew I made it up.

Well, this thread sure crashed and burned. I can't help but feel responsible contributing to it, too. Sorry.

Yeah, I'm sorry too. -_-;;
I guess the reason why I was unsure whether you were joking when I read your post is because there's a person in the Yahoo! KND Group named jonghyunchung and he's always making up really weird things, which he actually believes to be true, I think. When I read your post, I was thinking, "AGH! Another weird KND fan?"
So, yeah. I think that that other person had a factor in me being completely confused by this thread.

aw man, that guy bugs the heck out of me. Hey, don't rekindle the fight NOW! Tako was only doing her job as she saw it, and there's nothing wrong with that. It's not like she's the only one who was confused, almost everybody was. So it has to be mostly my fault. I should have been more careful.
