Just a small theory, but I'm of the opinion that Father can't resist a good sale (which is why there was enough instant potatoes to fill the entire mansion in PARTY ^_~) And he obviously hates spending money!

My take on Hoagie Sr. is simple enough - he's a pilot, and he is greatly admired by his son, who is also a pilot in the Kids Next Door. Whether he's a pilot for the military or civil aviation is up to a debate. If he's in the military, he might be stationed someplace far away at a warzone somewhere and if he's in working for an airliner, he's on duty. Those are probably the reason why we never see him in the show.

He could just be a mechanic or engineer, specializing in something else (water-based vehicles, perhaps?), and planes are Hoagie's personal love.

Time for a super theory of doom! Ever since I saw ZERO, I'd been wondering just what could make Grandfather reject his son so completely. But then today I put together a couple of theories and it hit me like a ton of bricks: 1. I don't think it was ever stated, but I'm pretty sure that Ben is the younger brother of the two; 2. They probably grew up without a mother (again, no proof, just speculation). Thus, the reason that Grandfather barely considers Ben part of the family is that his wife died giving birth to him! Who knows, that may even be what made him turn evil and develop his shadow powers.

I agree with you TheoryGirl. In ZERO Grandfather did mention that Monty was the older brother. And although I don't think Ben's birth killed her right away, I do agree that their mother must have died when the brothers were very young. I'm thinking Ben was a momma's boy and her death was tramatizing for him.

Eh, I think it was more the old-old-school mindset that the elder son is worth more, and should be heir to everything. Ben would be the backup. The second choice. The lesser model.
And probably a mama's boy, too.
I think this because Grandfather didn't so much hate him or get sad because of him. He despised him for his weakness and refused to respect him, or even see him as a worthwhile villian.

All these "Ben as a mama's boy" theories conjure up the mental image of him putting on a dress and a wig then killing Cree while she's in the shower, then going home and yelling "Mother? MOTHER? *Gasp!* Blood! BLOOD!"
EDIT: Someone should write a fanfic like that.

Okay, seeing as I'm researching the killer Norman Bates is based off for school, I'll take you up on that if you really want it written.

Another theory about the youngtimes of Monty and Ben, although based on the theories of a couple of other people. Being just so generally awesome, Numbuh Zero obviously became part of KND Global Command and spent a lot of time at the Moonbase. This is (probably) where he met Hoagie, Sr. They became friends, and somehow arranged for Monty to visit during Toobathon (maybe even participate), and for some reason Ben got to come, too. Which is how the stuff hinted at in Caked Four got to happen.

Absolutely, and that if Betty was a KND operative at that time, she would be in the same sector as Hoagie Sr.

Theory about Muffy Jenkins i was watching operation MESSAGE on youtube and i paused at where the lunchroom was and saw a table with someone sitting there with a white shirt and dark blue pants, a few moments later hoagie puts his foot on the seat next to someone with blue pants and a white shirt and i'm not saying that this is muffy jenkins but i looked at the picture from before with the cafeteria and saw the girl with the blue baubles in her hair- she was going to sit at that same table- and i thought, maybe she's muffy jenkins. so there, maybe she is, maybe she's not but i saw her

I was rewatching CAKED FOUR last night, and I had a thought: What if whatever happened between Hoagie, Sr. and Ben had something to do with Hoagie, Sr. discovering Ben had shadow/flame powers? And that's why he added that stuff to Betsy to defend against Father's powers, and then predicted that someday it'd save all the kids in town.
