Nintendo just announced their new console the Wii-U. For those who don't know, it's the promise that it's a hand-held that has graphics that are as good as PS3's. I like that it has an M rated game line up, but I have a few questions
One is how long the battery lasts. I mean having PS3 graphics on something you can hold in your hand is nice but it probably sucks up power like nothing else. Two, it shows that it can put videos and pictures on the TV through wireless shooting, but does this apply to games as well and will the signal break if something happens? I like the idea, but I have doubts that it'll work....and also, the price-tag for making something like this must be -expensive-, the 3DS alone was the price of an actual home console, and this new Wii U must be more expensive then that. I'm estimating a price of $400 or up at the least since you have to fit all the power of not only a screen that does HD on the hand-held, but also the power to provide the graphics. Lastly is who is gonna buy it? The wii sold well because it was a family system and many kids wanted it, but with a more adult game line-up will it sell as well? There are loyal Nintendo fans, but I think that many people who own PS3's and 360's won't jump ship to get games they can get on their current consoles, and I think most of the Nintendo owned games will be going to 3DS. Coupled with the price tag and the loss of console only games such as Halo, Gears, Killzone, and Uncharted will downgrade it's sales.
But who knows, this might be the new SNES. For those who don't know what that means, Sega and Nintendo had a console war in the 80's and early 90's, with Sega releasing the "Genesis" while nintendo was still on the NES. However, after years of work they released something that blew Sega out of the water, which was the SNES. So is Nintendo doing it again, but this time with Microsoft and Sony being the new Sega? These are just my thoughts on Nintendo's new product, and I'd love to hear your thoughts about it as well.
