Fear not loyal KH fans, the series is not yet over. As promised at the 2007 Tokyo Game Show, there will be three new Kingdom Hearts games hitting the shelves within the next few years. The first game, Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days is set to be released in Japan in February 2009 and in America, but an exact date for the American release has not yet been confirmed, but expect it as of early 2009 since Japan and our game releases differ by only a few months. Anyway, this game focuses on Roxas and the untold time he spent within Organization XIII. It will take place during the years that Sora was asleep, which is between the events of Chain of Memories and Kingdom Hearts II. The prologue will cover Roxas's birth, but the gameplay itself will start from when he enters Organization XIII. The main events are shown to be taken place in Twilight Town, however, other worlds like Wonderland and a few more have been confirmed to be in this game. Like the previous games, Disney characters will still be included. There is also a new female known as Xion, who is possibly the fourteenth Organization member. The game is for the Nintendo DS system.
The second game due out in the series is Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep. It is due out Summer 2009 for Japan, which means late Autumn/Early Winter for American release. This game focuses on the new characters Terra, Ventus, and Aqua. Yes, Aqua is the only female knight within the trio. If you've seen the KH 2 secret ending, you know who they are. The story is set ten years before the events of the first Kingdom Hearts, and focuses on the knights that weild keyblades before Sora. For each knight, there is a different scenario but no one scenario is more important than the other. The main theme is Ventus's identity. Like the previous games, Disney worlds of both new and old nature will be featured. Which also means when you go to Olympus, expect a much younger Hercules. The story revolves around three Keyblade apprentices in search of a missing Keyblade master, Master Xehanort, and his apprentice. Maleficent is believed to be the main antagonist; she causes a great disaster involving the Heartless which results in Master Xehanort and his apprentice's disappearance. The game is for the Playstation Portable (PSP).
The third game is Kingdom Hearts: Coded. It was just released in Japan on November 18, 2008. It is due for American release and other territories aswell like the other games, but a set date has not yet been announced. The game is set after Kingdom Hearts II. While organizing the records in his journal from his travels with Sora and his friends, Jiminy Cricket finds a message that he did not write:"We must return to free them from their torment." To investigate this message, King Mickey digitizes the contents of the journal and goes into the created world to investigate; at the same time awakening a virtual Sora on Destiny Islands. The game features a few Disney characters such as King Mickey, Goofy, Donald, Pluto, and Heartless. The game is for mobile phones. Which service provider has not yet been named that will offer the game on it's platform.
