Thank You, Stars[/i]
“So peaceful…” whispered the young, blonde girl. Rachel was standing out on the Sector V leader’s balcony, wearing a scarf. A long sweater and a nice, comfy skirt to keep her warm. She curved her lips, lightly blowing away the steam of her cup of hot-chocolate.
Rachel loved the night; watching the flurries of snow fall from the sky, and the stars twinkling above. “Winter. My favorite season.”
“You’re forgetting who loves it too, you know.” Came a recognized, British voice. The supreme leader gasped, whirling around. The face she turned to—the face of Nigel Uno.
Dressed in his regular clothing, but adding a gray scarf and matching gray gloves. His face, gentle—but so was his voice. His sunglasses glared from the shine of the stars, and felt the cool, soft wind against his skin.
“Oh.. Nigel! I was so distracted by the sky—I didn’t hear you come outside.” said Rachel, with relief. He smiled at her, his arms behind his back.
“Sorry to startle you,” he apologized. He joined beside her, looking up at the sky and snow. “Are you having a good Christmas Eve so far?” Nigel asked.
Rachel nodded her head in response, smiling. “Yes, I am. What about you?” Her head was turned to him.
“So far—very good.” He replied to her.
“That’s good…” said Rachel, focusing on her curiosity what he had behind his back. Nigel raised his eyes above his sunglasses.
“What are you looking at? …Is something on my face?”
“No, it isn’t that.” said Rachel, “…It’s just—I’m getting this funny feeling that you’re hiding something from me.”
A light blush lit up Nigel’s cheeks. “I—well..”
“What is it?” Rachel asked, walking up—feeling his warmth near her face. “Are you really hiding something from me, Nigel Uno?”
He walked backwards, and she walked forwards to him. To the doorway.
Some call it faith, some call it love
Some call it guidance from above
You are the reason we found ours
So thank you stars“What are you hiding?” Rachel repeated, grinning.
“Nothing!” Nigel cried, flinging his arms out. “See?”
Suddenly, something dropped out from behind him. Nigel gasped, seeing the wrapped-gift fall from his hands and onto the floorboards.
It was small, with a red ribbon tied nicely around the white box. Both Nigel and Rachel bent down to grab it—their hands touched. Rachel’s was under Nigel’s.
The two friends looked up at each other, eyes widened and cheeks tinted with blushes.
Some people think it's far away
Some know it's with them everyday
You are the reason we found ours
So thank you stars
There are no winds that can blow it away on the air
When they try to blow it away 's when you know it will always be thereTheir stares were in a trance. A long, loving trance. Nigel couldn’t bear to look away from Rachel’s beautiful, brown-chocolate eyes. But her hand felt so icy-cold… so alone.
“Your hands…” Nigel whispered with concern. “Rachel, give me your other hand. Please.”
Rachel only made the reply of placing her free hand with his own. Nigel did his best to warm them with his, and even kissed them! He placed his lips against her soft, frozen hands, blowing warm air from his mouth to warm them up. He kissed Rachel’s hands again, over and over.
The blonde girl felt her cheeks growing hot, feeling Goosebumps up on her arms—the good kind. The ‘butterfly’ feeling. Her best friend did his best to keep her warm.
To some it's the strength to be apart
To some it's a feeling in the heart
And when you're out there on your own, it's the way back home“May… May I ask—what’s with the gift?” Rachel heard herself asking him.
The British-bald boy smiled, taking the small, wrapped present in his hands and put it into her own. “No need to ask. Please, take it. Open it, even! Go on, don’t be shy.”
“Well, if you say so.” said Rachel, taking off the red ribbon slowly. She set the ribbon into her lap—but suddenly realized the wind blew it away with the snow and stars! Nigel chuckled, rubbing her arm gently.
“Go ahead.” He said.
There are no winds that can blow it away on the air
When they try to blow it away’s when you know it will always be thereWhen she opened her gift, Rachel let out a gasp. Nigel smiled, seeing her eyes light up if they were glimmering in the starlight. She pulled out a dazzling, silver necklace. The symbol of a star with a snowflake in the center of it.
“Nigel…how did you—” She was too speechless to even speak, her eyes gleaming at the beautiful necklace.
“You’ve always told me—you love snow, you love stars. So, I went out to do a little Christmas shopping. Do.. do you like it?”
“Like it? I—I love it!” Rachel blurted out, in happiness. “It’s beautiful, Nigel!”
The leader of Sector V smiled, rubbing his arm. “Heh… well, when I always look-out of the stars or snow… I think of you. . . Only you, Rachel.”
He then slapped himself playfully. ‘Too cheesy, definitely TOO cheesy!’ He thought, screaming in his mind.
“Nigel…” started Rachel, looking down. Her smile was small but sweet, and blushes increased. “Will—will you put the necklace on me?”
He felt touched. “Of course I will.”
The blonde girl turned her head away, lifting her hair up. Nigel took the silver necklace in his hands, and slowly began to put the necklace on her. His hands brushed against her shoulders. Her warm, fuzzy sweater had a nice scent. As so did her hair…

Thank you stars“There.” Nigel said, pulling away. Rachel turned around, feeling the necklace against her neck and chest.
“Well… how do I look?” inquired Rachel, smiling at him.
“You look amazing.” Nigel answered clearly, his heart pounding out of his chest. “…Actually, you always look beautiful to me, Rachel.”
Rachel blushed with pleasure. “Thank you…” she said quietly, glancing up at the doorway. “Oh my…”
Nigel looked up, too. He then looked down at her face, a smile flashed onto his lips. “You… do realize what two people do under mistletoe, right?”
Rachel leaned near him, and whispered, “Yes… yes I do.”
He leaned in, too. Rachel’s smile grew extremely wide. Nigel planted a nice, loving kiss on her cheek. Both of her cheeks grew blood-red, and Nigel finally pulled away.
“Merry Christmas, Rachel.” said Nigel. Rachel’s eyes drooped, laying her head on his shoulder. She sighed peacefully, looking out into the sky of snow and stars. With Nigel. Only Nigel.
Her Nigel.
