I'd just like to ask real quick, how does everyone feel about the whole 'the world is going to end in 2012' deal? It's something about the Mayan calender predicting the events that lead to the end of the world, which is on December 21, 2012. I'll be honest, I don't really buy into this bullcrap. The world was supposed to end in 1994, and so far it seems to be spinning just fine.

It was supposed to end on 1/1/2000. It was supposed to end on 6/6/2006. Even Jesus doesn't know when it's supposed to happen. Only God the Father knows the date. Wish the freaks on the fringe would give it up already.

If you read that in a magazine in black and white and also says "Skeleton of Jonas found in whale!" one the cover, then don't believe it.
I do enjoy reading 'em for kicks though. It's entertaining, what these crazies think up.

You know I've read this on another forum that I'm on. A lot of people don't believe it either.
So I guess you don't have anything to worry about, Numbuh 724. ^^ No need to worry. Maybe God hasn't made up his mind yet until he'll reach the '3000s. It could happen.

Back in 2006, betting houses/centres/companies (I dunno wat to call them) reported that more people bet that it was more likely the world would end on June 6th than Trinidad-Tobago winning the world cup at football... I'm waiting to see what bets will come in 2012.

What MHG said.
First there was this Nostradamus thing that didn't happen.
Then the Y2K that didn't happen.
Then the Triple 6 thing that didn't happen.
I just live my life. When the world ends is irrelevant.
..................and don't let me get started on that kind of magazine.......

I`ve been thinking about this a lot and now they have a date. I watched something on history channel called Bible codes and that is were I`ve heard HOW it`s going to end.I`m soooo scared now. Also in Bible codes they found other stuff in the Bible and you know what it came true!A meteor is soppused to hit earth then it`s supposed crumbble before it reaches earth. And that`s all I know.
4 more years!Maybe.

Haha I honestly don't think that the end is going to happen until like, 3000 something. I mean, on 6/6/06 Nothing bad happened. At school the kids thought the world might end or something. It didn't. We went on normally with our lives. Unless I wake up one morning with flaming balls of fire crashing iinto my backyard and it's all grey outside, then maybe I'd believe teh world will end.

It's also just the end of the cycle that the Mayans used. The Aztecs used a different calendar which "reset" itself every 52 years, resulting in a Y2K-type phenomenon every 52 years, accompanied by ritual human sacrifices to "ensure that the world would not end".

Thinking about the end of the 'world' a.k.a. Earth, it makes me wonder if human will ever expand space travel enough to colonize suitable planets.
