The idea behind the fanfiction was to pick up the collaboration anthology thing I had been trying to work on early this year. All work on my end of that kind of fell through because of my new promotion at work--I have a ton of stuff to do in real life as of late. Look up my thread on the collaborative project in the Fanfiction forum, but the idea was to do special short stories about all the key characters--Nigel, Hoagie, Kuki, Wally, Abby, Patton, Fanny, Rachel, and Father. These are special character building stories, based around important events in their lives. I gave small plot outlines and encouraged others to run with them. In the interest of making them as close to canon as possible, I outlawed pairings unless it was an established one in the series (like 1/Lizzie for most of the series, and even then, the story should not be about 1/Lizzie, it's just okay if its represented). Go ahead and take a look. As for fanart, I can't even draw stick people well. But I thought it would be cool if there were some kind of contest to focus on specific themes. Someone else might be better at putting it together than moi, but my general idea was to inspire some fanart in the spirit of the series. Maybe have some specific categories--I just thought it would be great to get a lot of people working on some KND fanart that wouldn't get polarized by a popularity contest and pairing wars. Anyone else have some idea for energizing the more mature fanbase? I'll spend time thinking about those, as well as go and read that you suggested. Not today though, too busy. |

The "What Are You Listening To" game could have potential, but it needs to be more than just posting the name of the song and artist. There should be the requirement of posting either a Youtube video or audio clip to go along with it, so it can serve as a music exchange for members.

To be honest I've been mulling over to close my account on this board due to the lack of energy and vigor it once had. The main KND board is getting dull. I tried to read some of the stuff on the Others and Real Life board but it doesn't seem to interest me since most of them are about trivial matters and American domestic news that I really don't care about.
I don't think a new board will help to solve it. It's like we're simply ignoring the problem and the solution is to create a new board where we can run away from them, becoming some sort of a haven for, supposedly matured folks to hide.
I think it's best for us to educate these people, and if they continue to act that way, penalize them. Restrict posting, suspension and all that jazz. It may sound authoritarian or elitist, but it's a way to curb those type of postings on this board, and it will more or less invite new blood or the old members to return back.
As for fandom, my fanarts will continue. I enjoyed drawing them and I will continue to do so. It's a way to hone my skills as a cartoonist since I'm pursuing a career in animation. I think it's wise for Warburton to create GKND, as it's a way to open a bunch of new things and ideas that us fans can discuss about. And I think he's aware: Kids Next Door is the highest rated show on Cartoon Network and abandoning it just because for the sake of ending it is just madness.
Here's an idea: since the main KND board is dull enough as it is, why not create a Galactic Kids Next Door board just to spice it up and throw our ideas around. That will at least keep the forum alive for a while.

Feel free to take up anything you like on the collaborative fanfic anthology, Numbuh 18A. If a story is listed as taken, just let me know--I'll get in touch with the author. The J.A.M. is the only one to turn something in yet. I know that MHG is handling the Nigel/Hoagie adventure, and that Unifilar wants to do the Fanny story this summer--but that's about it so far. I would definitely be behind a GKND board, but what context do we want it to be on. Or more clearly, are we talking about a board to replace this one? I still think that some of us here should do our "thesis" on the existing KND series and really get going on a constructive analysis. That said, there's no reason the projects can't coexist.  |

I was thinking: I popped onto the forum briefly this morning before I went off to clean the house. And what did I see? A number of posts in those forum games...
Lord M best described the people who continue playing them: Misguided. Not young, not immature...misguided. That's what we all mean about the kinds of threads that are strangling the forum.
If I'm going to stick around, I'm not going to sit around and complain...I'm going to have to rack my brain and come up with something to add to these threads.
T'was much easier to do so in the past than it is now, I'll be honest.

That's a wonderful thing. You don't know how happy it makes me feel to know that a legendary member of this forum has decided to stick around a while longer. But at the same time, I still understand your temptation to leave. Things are beginning to slow down around here, and it's hard to have a simple, grown-up conversation with anybody. It's either about the shippings, mourning over the fact that KND is over, or something that has nothing to do with KND. And overtime, that tends to get boring. Plus, things get confusing when newbies keep popping in and out, appearing once, and then never appearing again. But oh well. There's nothing that can be done, really.
Do you remember those modified images I sent you through PM, C7? I made those for your signature, considering that the screenshot was slightly oversized. I figured you could use it in your signature.

Just a little side point. PrettyInPurpleness, you should probably take a step back and calm down a little bit. I don't mean to be of any offense at all, but your disagreement with Comsie was rather irrational and juvenile.
