"Low Ratings" don't really mean anything. A lot of games I liked got medium or bad reviews.
You know a lot of books we consider "classic" now were actually flops that got bad reviews back in their own day? Same with games... sometimes people don't recognize quality in its own time.

Just like I remember one DA member dedicate to VIDEOGAME as well. He has his reasons and I'm sharing it and I agree too even though I did not get the chance to play VIDEOGAME. www.deviantart.com/deviation/36618581/ (Part 1) www.deviantart.com/deviation/36697550/ (Part 2) www.deviantart.com/deviation/36850433/ (Part 3) Personally, just like I said in my previous post, probably is painful memories and embarassment, that's why even the Nintendo Magazine also refuse to interview or discuss about their game. The whole thing reminds me of the ugly robot Rainbow Monkey from Saturn who is unloved by kids, and scientists need to take their embarassment away forever by rocketing him out into open space. In this case, refuse to interview.

Let's say if I were playing the guitar console, I wonder if I can play Chris Benoit's theme music, when his music is full of hard knocks or rocks.

Wow, you're a big dragon ball fan, Comic guy. Me, I usually more towards strategy and 1st person shooting, most importantly, modern warfare, I hate World War 2-related games except Valve's Day of Defeat.

Not just 1st person shooting games, strategy game counts too such as Company of Heroes and Blitzkrieg, then another FPS is also Battlefield 1942. WW2 is already over for many decades, why continue that, besides, the weapons and vehicles are outdated, I hate using those, I prefer the modern AK47 and M16 and driving Abrams tank.
But don't worry, Call of Duty 4 is now a modern warfare game, I'll look into that. Also Battlefield Vietnam was not so bad too, it still uses the modern weapons we use today.
And about your interest at early age, mine is Command & Conquer, but I was introduced first in Tiberian Sun before I play both the sequels and prequels.

I just got Trauma Center: Second Opinion. Seems simple enough, though on the first two chapters, I've only gotten level C.
But I didn't kill anyone yet.

My very favorite? I'll go by genre
STRATEGY: Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri
Possibly the best game of all time. Mixes brilliant gameplay (the weather/terrain system it used is still unmatched and the unit design section is second only to Galactic Civilizations II) with ingenious storytelling. The part where each advance is followed by a quote is pure genius. I dare you to find another game that quotes 'Nichomachean Ethics'. The voice acting is also quite strong.
FPS: Half-Life 2
No contest. Really, honestly, no contest. I hear Bioshock (which I'm yet to play) has some terrific storytelling but aside from that I can think of no game that even attempts that level of integration between arcade action and cinematic storytelling. Also features Alyx Vance coolest FPS NPC yet. By a margin of several AU. And Dog. Let us never forget Dog.
RPG: Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn/Throne of Bhaal
I play a lot of RPGs so the choice was difficult -- but BGII won on sheer scope. Together with its predecessor it comprises eleven discs of high-grade roleplaying. It might not have the subtle philosophical dialogs of Planescape Torment or the unbounded freedom of Morrowind but it triumphs all the same. And of course I maintain that famous tie hunter Moosk is clearly based on my favorite BGI/BGII NPC -- Minsc. Famous for his battle cry "Butt-kicking for goodness!!!" Minsc is a living terror should you give him a decent greatsword and one of the belts of giant strength.
ARCADE: Psychonauts
I can not stress thins enough: if you haven't already play this game. Drop everything else. Ignore all other obligations. It must be played.
It contains relentlessly fun action, best level design ever (and I do mean ever) and refreshingly original characters. Plus the storyline should be quite pleasant to any self-respecting KND fan.
So allow me to summarize: Go! Buy it. Play it. The voices must be obeyed!
ADVENTURE: Grim Fandango
It was a hard choice. A really hard choice. After all, any Lucas Arts adventure game is a serious contender for my Best Ever spot. Like Loom (which actually made me cry a bit...hey I was young). Or Sam & Max (also crying...though laughter was the culprit this time).
But for sheer originality and incredible humor and ingenious puzzles by the bucketload you really can't beat Grim Fandango. No such thing as a throwaway line or NPC here -- everything is done with care and the kind of casual brilliance I haven't seen ever since Jack Vance. As with Psychonauts (and, indeed, both games were done by the same genius, Tim Schafer) go and buy it. You won't regret it! It even contains a full-featured beat poetry simulator.
HONORABLE MENTION: Jade Empire
Its not the 'best' at anything but there is some indescribable feeling of satisfaction you get after playing it -- I guess its all the polish and care with which it was executed. Nary a misstep in the whole endeavor. Truly the apex of the KOTOR-style gameplay.

Well 0xFF, if you know Bioshock, is it going to win over Half Life 2's gameplay and graphic results? I'm not sure, but it better don't.
Oh, by the way, not to forget the next year coming's Starcraft 2.
