About two weeks ago, I pre-ordered this game. Then the day after the game was released, my dad brings in a small package and cuts the tape off. He opens it, and in it was a Capcom T shirt. I lifted the shirt, and there it was..... Megaman Anniversary Collection! Believe me, I was overwhelmed with a lot of happiness that day.
After about fifthteen years, everyone can now enjoy the original blue bomber in this exciting collection with approximately ten Megaman games. Available on the Gamecube and the Playstation 2.
FEATURES
-8 Mega Man games on one disc.
-Features two unofficial US released arcade games.
-Extensive interview with Mega Man’s creator. (Gamecube only.)
-Over 30 original artwork selections
-Navi Mode can now be used on all of the games, minus the arcades.
-Remixed music tracks inspired by the series. (Playstation 2 only.)
-Footage from the Mega Man cartonn TV series. (Playstation 2 only.)
STORY LINE 6/10
Now, the series never really had a great plot. Most of games's story lines are the same. Dr. Wily creates some robots, they destory things, and Megaman tries to stop him. But for those of you that aren't familiar with Megaman, here's where it began.
There were two scientist named Dr. Light and his assistant Dr. Wily. They built six different robots in order to help humanity in many ways. Then for unknown reasons, Dr. Wily betrayed Dr. Light by stealing the robots and them reprogrammed them to be hostile and destructive. Seeing that the world was in danger, Dr. Light choose Rock, one of the house keeping robots, to fight Dr. Wily. After some modifications, Megaman was born.
Aftwards, the rest is the story lines got kinda stale. The only difference is that the rest of the games (2-8) has eight Robot Masters instead of six.
GRAPHICS 9/10
Capcom stayed true to the original graphics. Filtered a bet, but still the same.
SOUND/MUSIC 9/10
Capcom stay true to this as well. The NES games still as their cute beeping noises and music, Megaman 7 still has its Midi typed sounds and music, and Megaman 8 was the begining of some mordern sound, music and sadly, bad voice acting. The two arcades however aren't really good...
But they also add a neat option for the Playstation 2 version. Remix music! I can't really give a good view on this because I own the Gamecube version.
GAMEPLAY 7/10
The gameplay remains the same in all of games. But what's new is the saving feature and Navi Mode. Navi Mode was in Megaman 8 and now you can have it on 1-7. It basically tells you how many lives you have underneath your heath bar and it tells you if your close to danger. If you get annoyed with this mode, there's simply an option to turn it on or off.
The controls kinda got to me though. They switched the B and A fire and jump buttons. Sometimes I used to get them mixed up when I try to jump over a cliff but instead I'd fire and fall in. It takes time to get used to. They also added an option to switch weapons by useing the L and R buttons, originally for the SNES and Playstaion! It makes life a bet easier, but you can still switch them the old fastion by pushing Z (Part of the GC controls.) to bring you to the weapons select.
Replay Value 10/10
You'll keep on playing this until you've beaten them all! And afterwards, you still might go back to play them again if you want to play them on a more challenging difficulty.
OVERALL 9/10
Forget Megaman X, Legends and Battle Network! Despite of bad controls, this is every Megaman fan's dream to have. ;D
