Inspired by a topic on the NaNoWriMo forums. So, do you write, or otherwise make up stories? If you do, have the characters and/or plot done something you didn't expect them to do? I've had that happen.
The best time was one of my OCs I roleplay with, Anna. At first, she was some self-insertion girl who lived somewhere in Australia. Now she's American born, to one of Nathalie's characters, namely Angela, the Delightful Children's mother. Father performed Delightfulisation experiments on her, until two of his employees quit and took her with them with she was two. And they were on the run, but Anna didn't know.
And I have no idea why any of that happened.

Inspired by a topic on the NaNoWriMo forums. So, do you write, or otherwise make up stories? Yuppers. Depends. Some of my stories I've been working on and developing in my head for years (on the page above, you can see that I have one story I came up with in 1994 but didn't write until 2005), in which case usually the entire plot concept changes half a million times before I finally decide where I want to go with any given work of fiction. Even on the fairly recent ones, I have to go through like four or five different ideas before finally settling on something, and then details change in the actual writing. In the end, I'm often just as surprised at how things happens as my readers would be.

at first, my OC was very mary sue-ish but until i started writing out her story, she turned into this crazed mystery solving girl. and all because of a single death that occured in her life. you can find the story in the ff section of the forum or here

So.... I assume that me and Shwoo are the only current forum members who have written something besides fanfics?

Actually, I haven't written a whole lot of original stuff yet. I'm working on it. I'm not participating in NaNoWriMo this year because writing 50000 words in 30 does not go well with end of year exams. In one of the roleplays I was in, Operation: NOW, the characters were stuck in the future, being chased by a guy who say he'll send them back if they have sex with him. I really thought they were going to find another way back, but apparently not.

I write on my own time and on my own terms. ........... Wow. Here I thought some of the things that happened in my stuff was disturbing.

Well, yeah, I didn't make up the whole thing. It was a roleplay.

We oughtta start a topic (or even a forum) for sharing and commenting on each other's original work. I wrote a whole slew of original from last Friday to Monday and it hasn't been commented on yet (possibly because people are still reading it, admittedly...)
I'm also quite tired of fanfics.

Wouldn't work for me, most of my original fics are in Dutch (okay, all of them are)
I once had this charachter in one of my stories, Cassandra. She was supposed to have lost her family, but didn't in the end. And i never model my characters after myself, but when I reread the story, she was so much like me. It was unintentional but happened anyway

Still though, it would be nice to have an exchange of discussion about original fiction, especially as its harder to get people interested in that than it is, say, to get them into fanfiction.

I agree. I enjoy original fiction, especially since I can't really get into pairings.

I agree. I enjoy original fiction, especially since I can't really get into pairings. We are one on this. Writing pairing-centric fanfiction was probably the worst mistake I ever made. Actually, I've come to feel that fics that exist only to advance a romantic pairing are inherently pathetic. If you're gonna write, please let it be something with a PLOT! That being said, have you written any original fiction? I posted a link to some of mine earlier.

Nothing online. I'm trying to write a novel, though.
