I'm not sure if there's any other fans of 1980s cartoons here, but I recently compiled a list of 80s cartoons either available, or soon to be available on DVD. The list is here. Enjoy ^__^.

Danger Mouse was a cool show, but I wish they'd release Count Duckula in the States too. That was a freakin funny show.
They edited out the live action segments on the Super Mario Brothers Super Show? *Vader Nooooo!* Savages! At least we get them in the upcoming release. I remember the one where Mario was hit in the head and thought he was a chicken, and later a monkey.
Something is not right in the world when they re-release Rainbow Brite, but not Hulk Hogan's Rock n' Wrestling.

That was a freakin funny show. *Shrug* Well, Danger Mouse totally took me by surprise, so I wouldn't be surprised if Count Duckula made it eventually. They ARE releasing it on DVD in Britain though, and there's brands of DVD players that do PAL-to-NTSC conversion and can be easily hacked to be regionless (I got such a one myself for $40 and now own several import DVDs). Uhhh... I don't quite recall THAT one, but I remember one where he had to house-sit a dog, and a machine Luigi was working on made him and the dog switch personalities. Hulk Hogan's Rock-n'-What? And don't come down on Rainbow Brite, man! That show was awesome as far as girls' cartoons go!

TMNT practically defined my childhood. I'm kind of torn on the new version. I'm glad it's coming back for a new generation, but so many changes were made. I know the changes are meant to make it more faithful to the comic, but still... Actually, even before that was Ghostbusters. The movie went way, way over my head at the time, but it was one of the first real cartoons I seriously got into, and the second line of action figures I took a vested interest in (the first being Rock Lords. Shame that wasn't made into a cartoon, and Transformers kind of squeezed it out. I guess kids will always go for robots that transform into fighter jets and attack subs before they go for robots that turn into rocks). For anyone who loves My Little Pony, this article is a must read (warning: it contains some foul language and sexual discussion): www.x-entertainment.com/messages/591.html

(okay so i vaguely remember the movie too lol) 1. It's spelled "Genie" ^__^ 2. That movie, BTW, was called "Treasure of the Lost Lamp." I forget whether its available on DVD or not, but I remember it being a fine movie. 3. Their names were Huey, Dewey, and Louie. Huey was the one in the red shirt and Louie was the one in green. Ya, I'm a nerd. -__^ Yup, Monterey Jack. He was Australian, and was the "strong arm" of the team, often making brash and thoughtless but well-meaning decisions and having no patience for planning (Hmm... sound familiar?) A boy, actually. The episode was called "Robocat." .... The Gatchaman team... and the Thundercats? 0__0 How does THAT work? If you mean Dr. Claw's cat, it was called Mad Cat. You know what always bothered me? Wanting to know where Penny got that computer book of hers. That thing was awesome. I wanted one -__-. Cheetara. Babar the Elephant may or may not have been 80s, but the rest were certainly 1990s toons. That article makes me glad I own the pilot special on tape. Really, I love that special. But I'm waiting for is like a Voltron Speacial Edition. What would your ideal "Special Edition" be like? There are actually plans for American DVDs of Voltron. I don't know how they'll be handled though--honestly I hope they do it in boxed sets like the Australian release. It's too bad though that they won't be including the full original Japanese episodes (unless plans change later).
