Actually, several book-to-film movies have turned out quite good. Such as Grapes of Wrath, Gone with the Wind, The Wizard of Oz, To Kill a Mockingbird, Frankenstein, Jurassic Park. And even some movies turned out better than the books. The Godfather, Star Wars, Shrek, etc. Gregory Peck IS Atticus Finch. >XPP And adding onto that, did you know that Hitchcock's Vertigo was originally a book? (evidently a rather bad one too) *cough* Anyhoo, you're quite right about that... but backing up Diala, we all know that books-to-movies tend to have negative connotations... perhaps because they try to bend the script to fit what they think audiences would be entertained by. I, Robot is particularly bad in my opinion because they not only do just that, but do it to such an extent that its theme, plot, and mood are virtually unrecognizable when compared with the books it originally came from. ~Regan

I didn't know that, and I have seen the movie. Also I heard Psycho was based on a book too. Anyway, yes you do have a point that many movies based on books are rather lame, but don't let a few bad apples spoil the bin (or however that saying goes). There are also quite a few good movies that are based on books, and as long as people acknowledge that I ain't complainin'. Oh and don't forget the Lord of the Rings, another great movie based on a book.
