For years, my dad has been trying to get me to read Foundation by Isaac Asimov. Now, Foundation is the first book in a long-running series--Originally it was just a trilogy, but Asimov's editors forced him to write a fourth book, called Foundation's Edge.
This caused me to wonder if said book was any good, so I read reviews of it. I found them and read them... finally I came across a negative one, which thoroughly panned the book...
... But then it did something else. It actually gave away the ending.
Now, Foundation's Edge was written primarily to be a big, all-out ending to the Foundation series (even though there were more books afterwards). Giving way it's ending is like telling everyone what happens in the last movie of the Matrix trilogy--even moreso since (trying to be as spoiler-free as possible), the ending of Foundation's Edge, like Matrix Reloaded, has an ending that pretty much invalidates the entire plot of the first three books and makes them absolutely pointless. Because of this, right now I'm fighting to try and get myself re-interested in the series.
Honestly, I wish Amazon.com had a system where you could report reviews that have spoilers in them in order to get them deleted.

I know what you mean. The jerk could have at least instated a spoiler warning in BIG BOLD LETTERS at the very beginning of the review.
