(continued - BTW, I'm sure you can tell what's real in here and what's made up)
Narrator: In 1999, Tom Warburton, a.k.a. Mr. Warburton, an animator who had previously worked on the cartoons "Pepper Ann" and "Sheep in the Big City", pitched an idea to Cartoon Network - a series titled "Kenny and the Chimp". The show featured the title characters and their neighbors - five kids simply known as "The Kids Next Door".
[cut to Numbuh One]
#1: Numbuh Eleventy Billion - er, I mean, Mr. Warburton - told us about this show he was pitching to Cartoon Network. Naturally, we all thought it was a good idea, so me and Numbuhs 2 through 5 signed up.
Narrator: Only a pilot episode of Kenny and the Chimp was made, as Cartoon Network was more intrigued by the title characters' neighbors. Mr. Warburton shifted the show's focus towards the Kids Next Door.
[cut back to Numbuh One]
#1: When Mr. Warburton said that Cartoon Network was interested in The Kids Next Door, I wasn't sure what the show would turn out to be. Finally, we decided that the show would center on the Kids Next Door organization itself, particularly my sector.
Narrator: The five stars of the show were Numbuh One/Nigel Uno, Numbuh Two/Hoagie P. Gilligan, Jr., Numbuh Three/Kuki Sanban, Numbuh Four/Wallabee Beetles, and Numbuh Five/Abigail Lincoln. All five were members of the Kids Next Door's Sector V.
[cut to Numbuh Five]
#5: The series turned out to be kind of like a documentary. I mean, all the stuff on the show really DID happen to us - we just ended up writing an 11-minute script about each mission.
Narrator: Meanwhile, in 2001, Cartoon Network was holding a contest called "The Big Pick" The contest would feature several pilot episodes for potential series on the network. The contest had been held the previous year, with the winner being "The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy"
[cut to Numbuh Two]
#2: Were we excited? Of course we were excited! I remember Numbuh One claiming that if we won, we could end up "as big as the Powerpuff Girls"! Back then, if you said that, it meant something. But now that they're off the air...
Narrator: The Kids Next Door won the contest, and the series was greenlit.
[clip of various KND operatives at the Moonbase watching Cartoon Network on the night of the Big Pick, popping open bottles of non-alcoholic champagne (y'know...that sparkling grape juice stuff) and celebrating]
Narrator: The series debuted in December of 2002. The first official episode featured not only the pilot, "No P in the OOL", and the first of the legendary "C.A.K.E.D." saga, but also the pilot for "Kenny and the Chimp" - the only remaining part of the original series.
In the first season alone, the show's audience got to know a variety of villains, such as Mr. Wink and Mr. Fibb, Stickybeard, Knightbrace, Grandma Stuffums, the Toilenator, and, the KND's biggest foes of all, Father and the Delightful Children From Down The Lane.
[cut to Father]
Father: I was a bit reluctant to join the show at first, seeing as everyone would get to see me constantly get defeated by the Kids Next Door, but I watched a few episodes, and I realized that some viewers would wonder who this "Father" person was that my Delightful Children were referring to. So, I made a deal with Mr. Warburton, and joined the cast in the season finale. Frankly, I have no regrets.
[cut to the Toilenator]
Toilenator: When I was asked to sign on to the show, I wasn't too sure, since whenever I DO confront the Kids Next Door, I end up getting beat up a lot. Of course, when Mr. Warburton said that I could have a stunt double, I agreed.
Narrator: Away from the set, love was in the air when Nigel met a girl around his age named Lizzie Devine.
[cut to Numbuh One]
#1: When I met Lizzie...well, what can I say? Something clicked, and I just fell for her. I didn't really wanna tell anyone else though...first off, Numbuhs Two and Four were BOUND to tease me about it, and I also realize that if any of the writing staff found out, they'd HAVE to include her in the show. I just didn't want too much attention on our relationship.
Narrator: Nevertheless, Nigel's teammates found out, and after a mishap involving a "boyfriend helmet", quickly leaked the information to Mr. Warburton. The episode "L.I.Z.Z.I.E." was written soon after, and Lizzie was signed on to the show.
[cut to Lizzie]
Lizzie: I don't see why Nigie didn't want our relationship in the show. That would've proved to all those crazy Nigel fangirls - YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE!!! - that he was off the market.
Narrator: Coming up...More KND operatives sign on to the show...
[clips from C.H.A.D. (showing Numbuh 274/Chad) and F.U.G.I.T.I.V.E. (showing Numbuh 86/Fanny)]
Narrator: And later...
[cut to Numbuh Five]
#5: Numbuh Five knows what was REALLY goin' on between those two...

Narrator: In its first season, "Codename: Kids Next Door" introduce the world to the Kids Next Door, and their fight against evil adults. Since the show was being based on the actual exploits of Sector V, various friends, enemies, and operatives were gradually being signed onto the show. The episode C.H.A.D. introduced an operative already popular among the Kids Next Door - Chad Dickson a.k.a. Numbuh 274.
[cut to Numbuh 4]
#4: We really got excited when Chad was signed on. Back then, he was the COOLEST operative around! You wouldn't believe how many operatives tuned in for THAT episode!
Narrator: But behind the scenes, producers worried about Chad's age. As any viewer of the show, or any KND operative could tell them, once an operative turned 13, they would be decommisioned. Chad was 12 and a half.
[cut to Chad]
Chad: I wasn't worried about my age. Why would've I worried? I was Numbuh-freaking-274! I had fangirls pounding on my trailer door! No way they were gonna kick me out of either the show OR the KND...
Narrator: As the show went into its second season, a shocking secret was discovered off the set. Abby's sister, Cree, formerly Numbuh 11 of the KND, was secretly working for the Teen Ninjas, a group working under Father.
[cut to Numbuh Five]
#5: It's not like there WEREN'T any hints that Cree was evil. After she retired from the Kids Next Door, her attitude changed, and she kept sneaking off. So when I found out what she really was...it wasn't surprising...
Narrator: Cree was signed on to the show, and the entire Kids Next Door was made aware of their former operative's betrayal.
While Cree was being signed on, other operative's family members had already joined, such as Numbuh One's parents and Numbuh Two's brother ,mother, and grandmother. In fact, all members of Sector V had their families sign on to the show. It was at this point that the producers began to wonder about the family situation of one of their cast members.
[cut to Numbuh Two]
#2: The producers asked about my dad. Mom had never mentioned him to them, and frankly, I didn't WANT to answer their questions. So, they just never spoke about it again for a long time.
Narrator: Meanwhile, more operatives were being signed on, including Numbuh 86, and the leader of the whole organization, Numbuh 362.
[cut to Numbuh 362]
Numbuh 362: Actually, they'd asked me to sign up during season one. I wasn't so sure, since I didn't know if the show would catch on. I was pretty much kicking myself as the show got more and more popular, but when they asked me and 86 to join, I jumped at the chance.
Narrator: On the set, it was becoming apparent that Nigel wasn't the only one who'd fallen head over heels during the show's run. Numbuh Two's crush on Cree was obvious, and become the subject of the episode K.I.S.S. However, rumors were swirling about a different crush on and off the set.
[clip from the episode B.E.A.C.H.: Hoagie and Abby singing "Wally and Kuki sitting in a tree/K-I-S-S-I-N-G!"]
Narrator: Many saw chemistry between Wally and Kuki. The rumors may have started after the episode O.F.F.I.C.E., but support for the couple grew after the epsiodes B.E.A.C.H. and U.N.D.E.R.C.O.V.E.R.
[cut to Numbuh Four]
#4: They wrote those episodes without my permission! I couldn't just quit, but do you realize how HUMILIATING that was?! Now, I'm not saying they were WRONG about our relationship, but they weren't exactly RIGHT either.
[cut to Numbuh Five]
#5: Numbuh Five knows what was REALLY goin' on between those two. They'd been crushin' on each other for who knows how long! It was only a matter of time before a little bird leaked it to the writers...if you know what I mean.
[cut to Numbuh Three]
#3: Wait...you're asking if I LIKE like Wally? Um...can I answer that later?
Narrator: The rumors would be put on the back burner, however, as the KND were going through enough already.
[clip from E.N.D., featuring Chad's betrayal]
Narrator: As the second season wound down, Numbuh 274 turned 13. He ended up decomissioning Numbuhs 2 through 5, and in fact had scheduled many sectors for decomissioning, as his parents had invited them to his 13th birthday party. His double-crossing was soon discovered, but after the decomissioned operatives had been recomissioned, he escaped before having his memory wiped, and quickly joined the Teen Ninjas.
[cut to Chad]
Chad: You really think I was gonna let them decomission me? Fat chance! And lemme tell ya something - joining the Teen Ninjas was the BEST thing that ever happened to me!
Narrator: Coming up next...as the third season begins, an operative's brother joins the fight
[clip from G.R.A.D.U.A.T.E.S. showing Tommy shouting "I wanna be Numbuh T!"]
...and the improbable happens

[end commercial break]
Narrator: By season three, the Kids Next Door had been through betrayals of so-called friends, and rumors of romaces sparking on and off the set. The off-set changes occuring in the characters showed up on-screen, so the world knew by season three that Tommy Gilligan, brother of Numbuh Two, was joining the Kids Next Door.
[cut to Numbuh Two]
#2: I though Numbuh One was kidding when he said Tommy was joining! But he turned out to be better at it then I thought, so I figured that he WAS sane when he decided to sign Tommy up.
Narrator: Even before Tommy had finished his training, season three already had TWO 30-minute episodes, as opposed to one per season, like seasons one and two. These episodes were the season premiere, F.U.T.U.R.E., and another 30-minute episode, F.O.U.N.T.A.I.N.
[cut to Numbuh Four]
#4: Well, what can I say? We were doing more and more exciting stuff, and 11 minutes weren't enough to cover it!
Narrator: Eventually, Tommy finished his training in the Kids Next Door, becoming Numbuh T.
[clips from G.R.A.D.U.A.T.E.S.]
Narrator: But his celebration was short-lived. Soon after the graduation ceremony, Father attempted another plan to destroy the Kids Next Door.
[cut to Father]
Father: The plan seemed simple enough - steal the Code Module, turn the Kids Next Door into animals, blah blah blah, but then that little RUNT got in the way...
Narrator: Tommy gave up his membership in the Kids Next Door in order to save his friends and his brother, but continued fighting for kids as "The Tommy"
[clip from G.R.A.D.U.A.T.E.S., featuring Tommy introducing himself as "The Tommy"]
Narrator: Meanwhile, rumors of romances behind the scenes were spreading like wildfire.
[cut to Numbuh Five]
#5: EVERYONE was hooking up on and off the set! And the rumors...everyone was pairing Numbuh Five up with someone, whether it was Numbuh One, or Numbuh Two, or even Numbuh Four...not to mention all those speculations about me and Heinie's past relationship. But, seriously, if you didn't even have a crush on someone on set, you were missing out. If you'd followed us, you'd find a LOT more proof off-camera than on...especially at this little clothing-optional resort* we discovered during season five...
[cut to Lizzie]
Lizzie: With all the girls on set, I naturally got worried about how long Nigie would stay faithful. I even went berserk a few times! But could you blame me? If you'd heard rumors that your boyfriend had eyes for someone else, you'd be upset, too!
Narrator: Season Four began in late 2004. Early in production, the Kids Next Door discovered an important secret concerning their universe.
[cut to Numbuh One]
#1: Lizzie and I found this parallel universe - a "negative universe", if you will. For a moment, I thought it was all a dream...but it was too real.
Narrator: The KND's negative counterparts, the DNK, agreed to sign on for on episode - the 30-minute episode P.O.O.L.
The next episode, C.A.K.E.D.-F.O.U.R. premiered more than two months after P.O.O.L.'s premiere. The episode intended to be another installment in the famous "C.A.K.E.D" saga, but instead brought up some issues that hadn't been talked about since season one.
[cut to Numbuh Two]
#2: After the episode premiered, everyone was asking about my dad. I kept telling people "It's personal, okay? I just don't think I'm ready to tell anyone yet." And yet...[to cameraman] Hey, listen, could you turn that thing off? I'm done. [gets up and walks off]
Narrator: Bigger things were going on, however. During season four production, a former ally of the Kids Next Door, the fourth-grade president, seemed to switch sides.
[cut to Numbuh One]
#1: HE STOLE MY GIRLFRIEND! HE TRIED TO STEAL MY GIRLFRIEND! Did you really think I was gonna let him get away with THAT?! Oh, and he tried to steal everyone's snow day, too...
Narrator: Coming up next...a KND secret revealed.
[clips from M.A.U.R.I.C.E.]
Narrator: And later...
[cut to Numbuh One]
#1: I'm not allowed to say everything about the movie...
[commercial break]
