Well, I decided to post an explanation about this board because I think people have been using it for purposes it wasn't meant for. Okay, first of all, this board is for ACTUAL DRAFTS of a story you have previously written and are "copy & paste"-ing onto this board or are linking to from this board. Second, this board is for getting CONSTRUCTIVE FEEDBACK on your story. That means, people reviewing should avoid saying things like, "good story!!!!!!!111" or "good whens the next chapter." That also means that people posting their stories should expect and encourage criticism on their fics. Going through this board, I noticed that there were several threads posted on this board that were just ideas for stories, or previews of upcoming stories. - Operation: R.I.V.A.L.R.I.- Operation: A.L.P.H.A.- Fic IdeaIf you posted your fic ideas in this way, I won't delete the thread in this board, but please copy and paste the ideas into the Newcomer Ficcies thread. The Newcomer Ficcies thread is dedicated to fanfic ideas and upcoming fanfics, so any future posts about upcoming fics should be put there, NOT ON THIS BOARD. Also, please write the story externally and either copy & paste it on this board or provide a link to the story's location. For the writer of Operation: E.V.I.L. and Operation: I.C.E.D., next time, write it outside, taking as long as you want, and then copy & paste it in or something.

Do we HAVE to cut n' paste? IE is it fine if we link to a rough draft (like I did for "The Seal")? I don't like cut n' pasting a story because that can screw up the formatting.

Hm... good point. I guess that it's okay if you put a URL. I'll go change that now.

Okay I'll do that. And by the way, Op. Alpha wasn't a fic idea, I just never got around to writing it.

If you mean doing Fanfic drafts, then just write a fanfic chapter by chapter. After each chapter, it will be replied to by others for CONSTRUCTIVE FEEDBACK, and you continue with the next chapter.

it will be replied to by others for CONSTRUCTIVE FEEDBACK, In theory, it is. All I've seen lately is the standard fanfiction.net style review: "this is good plz write more lol!!"

I'm not sure if it's even a good idea for force people to write just one type of review. It's true that the "dis iz gud right more!!11!1" type pf review isn't what many people are looking for, (though it's better than nothing) but I think many writers want indepth encouragement in addition to constructive critisism, and I think that's important too. I fear this reviewing system will lead reviewers to only write ultra critical reviews that say "this is fine but" then launch into a diatribe of everything that's wrong with the story. (which may not be all that terrible, as long as it's not the ONLY type of review you get) Of course, some of my favorite reviews are ones that combine encourage and contructive critisism, which I think I perfer over impersonal one-liners.

^ I've noticed lately that this board isn't being used for its original purpose anymore. It seems to be more of a second place to place fanfics now (some people post their fics in the regular Fanfiction board). Ah well. I guess I should unsticky this then.
