Numbuh 4 paused at the entrance to Numbuh 3's room. You can do this...it's almost Valentine's day. It's time you stepped up! Tell her how you feel! Are you a man, or are you a kid? The door opened, and he yelped and dived behind a nearby plant.
Numbuh 3 just barely stuck her head out of the door. "I thought I heard somebody...is that you, Numbuh 4?"
Guiltily, Numbuh 4 stepped out from behind the plant. "Hi, Kuki..I uh...I..just..wanted to uh....tell you....ummm..." He took a deep breath. Now was not the time to back down! He was going to tell her how he felt.
"Tell me what?"
"Uh..." Numbuh 4 lowered his head. He couldn't think of how to phrase it. And so, the next thing to come out of his mouth was "I'll play cruddy dolls with you.."
He slapped both hands over his mouth, shocked and scared of her reaction. He had not meant to say that. Numbuh 3's eyes grew wide, and her already enormous smile somehow grew all the larger. "Reeeaaaallllly?" She squealed, not waiting for an answer. She grabbed his hand and pulled him into the room.
"I was just kidding!" Numbuh 4 muttered, kicking away one of Numbuh 3's rainbow monkeys. It spouted "You're my bestest friend!" before sailing out the window and into the street below. Numbuh 3 looked shocked. She was silent for a moment.
"That...was one of my favorites," she said softly. Numbuh 4 groaned, knowing that if he didn't calm her down, she would go into one of those horrifying rages that usually left him terrified.
"All right, all right, I'll play cruddy dollies..." He muttered, barely audible, "but I ain't gonna enjoy it."
Numbuh 3 bounced happily a few times, before sitting down, and motioning for Numbuh 4 to do the same. He did so, however begrudgingly. "Let's see....this rainbow monkey will be me," she picked out a green one, and handed Numbuh 4 an orange one, "And that'll be you!"
Numbuh 4 rolled his eyes. "Whatevah..."
"So," Numbuh 3 said, making her rainbow monkey 'talk' to Wally's, "How are you today, Wally?"
That's when an idea hit him. He had come to her room with a purpose...and now he had a means of doing it. "Hello, Kuki," He emulated the way she moved her rainbow monkey, trying to make his look like he was talking, "I have something to tell you."
"What is it?"
"I...uh...," Wally frowned. Even using a rainbow monkey for this was hard. He shook his head, deciding that it was probably because he was touching one of these cruddy things. "I..like you, Kuki."
"I like you, too!" the Kuki rainbow monkey replied.
"No, no..." He said softly, "Not that way. I like you a lot more than that. More than a friend. I..uh...like-like you."
"ooooooh..." The Kuki rainbow monkey said, closing the gap. Both rainbow monkeys kissed.
Numbuh 4 dropped his rainbow monkey and glanced at Numbuh 3. "That was the bestest game of rainbow monkeys EVER!" she declared, giving him a hug. Numbuh 4 blushed, but allowed it. Did she think I was just playing her game?
"I..uh..I'm going to get going," Numbuh 4 said, deciding not to even bother asking. Knowing Numbuh 3, she probably had decided that he was just playing pretend. He walked off, leaving Numbuh 3 alone with her rainbow monkeys.
She smiled and pulled the orange rainbow monkey close to her. "Well, he sort of admitted, Wally," she said to the rainbow monnkey, using the nickname she'd given it instead of its true name (its real name was "I Secretly Have a Crush On You Rainbow Monkey"), "Maybe one day he'll tell me for real."
