Wallabee Beatles, aka, Numbuh 4, groaned and banged his head against the chair in front of him.
"Hey, Numbuh 1?" He asked, testing out the nickname for his new leader. But Numbuh 1 had proven himself in 4's eyes. The day they met, 1 had saved him from some bullies that were giving him trouble.
"Yes, Numbuh 4?" Numbuh 1 didn't look up. He was studying the platform very closely, as a small boy got on stage.
Numbuh 4 plunged on, "Why are we at the cruddy cadets' graduation? Why should we care?"
"We should care," Numbuh 5 fielded the question, "Because we're short one team member. Sector V's always been a five person job. Which means one of these cadets is comin' with us."
"Oh," Numbuh 4 said, not really caring any more. He glanced down and spotted a small Japanese girl. She was wearing a too-large purple shirt, and had her hair in two ponytails. There was a purple rainbow monkey at her side. "Stupid rainbow dorkies.." He glanced around, deciding not to focus on that girl anymore. What did he care about Rainbow Monkey lovers?
274 only had about three more names left to call. "Kuki Sanban!" He called. The ponytailed girl that 4 had noticed earlier took the stage. She entered her genetic code.
"Please, state your number," The computer said.
"Uh....what number?" The girl, Kuki, said blankly.
"Any numbuh, you dolt, just get off the stage!" Numbuh 4 shouted. Kuki looked back at him, looking hurt. He shrinked down, hiding behind the chair in front of him.
"I pick Numbuh 3," She said, giving the rainbow monkey at her side a much tighter squeeze.
"Welcome, Numbuh 3. Your assignment is....Sector V."
"....Oh, crud!" Numbuh 4 exclaimed from his seat. Not only was she a cruddy girl, a rainbow monkey lover...she was also someone who now had a reason to hold a grudge against him.
