Why do you think Mr. Warburton gave Nigie a girlfriend, instead of just a big crush? I mean, 1/Lizzie is the only definite couple on the show! Although it is very cute, I don't really like boyfriend and girlfriend relationships on TV shows if they weren't there from the beginning. But that's just my view. What do you think?

This was there from the beginning. Op: LIZZIE was one of the show's first episodes, I believe.
Anyway, I believe Lizzie adds an important dimension to Nigel's character. In all other circumstances, Nigel is in charge, cool, focused, and backs down from nobody. Lizzie, however, has him whipped, and in a position where he has almost no control. For all his skill and talent, when it comes to his love life, someone dominates him. It kind of keeps him from becoming a Gary Stu. Instead of a pretty, adoring girl, they give him a grating, unattractive one who is all but obsessed with him to add to the humor.
As for why it's not just a big crush, Nigel may have just been happy that someone notices him. With all his conspiracy theories and ARCHIVE-like ramblings, anyone outside the KND probably thinks he's a total nutjob. He probably likes that Lizzie is able to look past his beliefs on adult tyranny, even if she doesn't take them seriously.

I think he's with Lizzie because he doesn't have to be the Leader with her. They're on equal footing, and she tends to have the advantage. She obviously enjoys taking care of him, and he always wants to protect her. But she's no wilting lily and can handle things if she ends up in the middle of KND business.
Besides, she's not the kind of girlfriend you'd expect the almost legendary Numbah 1 to have. As often as I've heard it suggested that they could cosplay as James Bond and a Bond-girl, she doesn't tend to play the Damsel in Distress (okay, once, but that was done well) or the helpless female.
As for her being "unattractive", what makes you think she's unattractive? Just because she wears glasses, is overweight, and wears her hair in braids? Nigel seems to find her pretty. He certainly can't resist her "pretty please" look, like she used in LIZZIE. Not to mention there are at least 2 other guys who like her. They find her attractive.

I still think that is all a big plan, strategy, etc.
Nigel has a girlfriend, yes, we know that, but why? we don't know, maybe she saw something else that no one could saw and he saw soemthing in her that no one else could saw
and as I said, and say
~He has a girlfriend to make "impossible" other couples such as 1/5,1/362, etc. to make more interesting the cartoon, and at the end of the cartoon, we will see Nigel dating another girl, or just withput his actual girlfriend~
he would reply with double sence or, he won't reply

I think they put her in for comody. She is a very funny character. Her purpose in the show is to be just that.

They didn't even have wallys name picked out by the first season. (the delightfulls called him wallace) I don't think they made up a huge plot to keep the shippers from shipping. |

Not to mention 1/Lizzie was canon before there were even hints of any other 1-ship, and before most of the characters he's shipped with were even introduced.

I agree with Eve. I am sure that I am not the only one who enjoys seeing big, bold leader-type Numbuh One getting whipped by his quite dominant girlfriend. I do believe Nigel enjoys being under her paw as well.

Nope, you aren't the only ones. I enjoy it, too. That's one reason I enjoy the couple. Lizzie isn't the typical Leader's Girlfriend. ^^

And thats why we love her. I think Lizzie adds to Nigel's character, besides I just cant see him dating one of the other operatives. (it would be like kinda dating your co-worker.)

No, it WOULD be dating your co-worker.
Nigel is already a workaholic. If he dated another operative, he'd never be able to separate any part of his life from his work.
