This time, it's the Junie B. Jones series, for the kid saying "stupid" and dumb" and using improper English. Now, nobody's more of a grammar Nazi than me, but banning the book? Come on! Kids aren't going to start spelling everything wrong because of something they read in a book... Book banning makes me CRAZY. Here's the article: Is Junie B. Jones Talking Trash?

I can say honestly(i've read just about every one of her books in the series ^^ that banning the book because she has bad grammer is really stupid. in the book she is 5-6. She's still learning to speak properly, and many little kids say stuff like she says. "Smelly""stupid""dumb" are words lots of little kids use. Junie B is a little kid. She's in kindergarten/first grade. How many first graders doyou know speak like"how are you today, mother dearest? May i go out and play?" its simple knowledge. and the miss spellings in the book. Its her learning how to spell. "skard" instead of"scared" many kids dont know the difference between the hard C and the one that sounds like S They have too many problems.

Oh, brother...I think most kids, through English classes at school, could tell that kind of grammer isn't exactly perfect And do these people have any proof it's going to affect how their kids speak?

Pft, please. Proof? Who needs proof when you can just assume outlandish results?
I automatically bristle when I see the word 'book banning'. And this is just outright ridiculous. I read Junie B. Jones when I was younger, and I like to think I have a good hold on my grammar. Goodness. Junie B. Jones is a very enjoyable series. I feel sorry for the kids whose parents were close-minded enough to ban the books from them.

WHAT? I really liked those books and they were a very good interpretation of a little girl's life. Geez. Not every book has to be so "RHAAA! LEARN!LEARN!LEARN!minorplot.LEARN!LEARN!LEARN" I hate those kind of books. Those books were so fun. And I can say that my sister HATES those books, but she still talks like an idiot. Even worse than Junie B. Jones.

When kids read bad English in their younger age, it could affect them in the future. So I don't recommend bad grammar for this one, I remember that back since in my primary school when my English teachers are very serious regarding bad grammars and spelling errors.

“No wonder we have declining literacy and writing proficiency rates in this country!”--Quote from a mommie in the article You know, I'm the same one who complained about "Oobi" in a different thread, but that's aimed at a different age group...kids who are just learning how to speak. The age group THIS book is aimed at speaks "properly" already! Geez Louise...grumble mumble now this board knows why I don't want to be friends with women my age...grumble grumble...

I can understand why teaching young children incorrent English is bad when they're still learning, but this is taking it too far. After all, that's just how people speak these days and when characters are more realistic then the whole story is a lot more believable. Some people seem to find joy in complaining about every little thing they possible can.

LMAO.
I think the main thing the person who wrote the article was trying to say is: I have no life so I'm going to spend my time bitchin bout things that don't need to be said! And Im just THAT stupid that I don't realize that it's a book for KIDS who LIKE that kind of thing.
:'D Just like the deedeedee's who think Harry Potter is satanic. LOL.
