Well everyone, as I promised, here's the new chapter of my new fic, I'm thinking of submiting it to Fanfiction.net too. Though I don't have any ideas for the title.
Chapter 1
Rachel stared out her window of her bedroom, feeling a heavy stress of work, or depressed as they called it. But luckily she was almost through with the Kids Next Door paperwork, and it was a quiet, boring summer afternoon on a Friday. So, without any hesitation at all, she twisted the cap onto her ink pen, putting it down on her desk. Scrambling up her paperwork that Numbuh 65.3 sent her, she had one thing on her mind lately. Nigel Uno, aka Numbuh 1 that was her top operative. Also the son of the legendary Numbuh Zero. And in yet… she had a thing for Nigel, but she kept it only a secret towards Numbuhs 86 and 60. Neither of them said a word. She had deep loving feelings for him, which she wanted to admit to him, but she was unsure if he felt the same way…
“Mother,” Rachel said heading towards the front door to walk outside. “I’ll be going out for a while.” She heard the dishes clink from the kitchen, assuming that her mother was washing the dishes in the sink.
“Alright dear,” she heard her mother’s voice break from humming a sweet tune. “Have fun!”
Rachel nodded and headed out the door, and then headed towards the direction of the town park.
At Garnet Park, the young blonde strolled on the sidewalk around the circular patch of green grass that was surrounded by the path. Younger children ran and played, as other larger groups of people lazed around after the work they had accomplished on the quiet Friday afternoon.
Rachel went her way, then suddenly seeing him sitting there on a bench with his head back and eyes closed. ‘What is Nigel doing here alone?’ Rachel thought, walking over.
The bald boy perked up, feeling that he had a lot of shade. “Huh?” He sat straight up, seeing that he was face-to-face with his supreme leader. “O-oh! Numbuh 362!” he stuttered giving a trembling salute. “I didn’t happen to find you here, Sir.”
Waving it off with a motion of her hand, Rachel didn’t want to be bothered today by being supreme leader. “At ease, Nigel.” She smiled, shaking her head. “I’m just getting some fresh air from all that paperwork sent by Numbuh 65.3. Luckily I’m through with it.”
Nigel ‘s frown turned into a smile. “That’s great! I just got out of my tree house for some peace and quiet; it was a nuthouse back there.” He scooted to the other side of the bench, able to make room for the girl to sit. She took the sit, and then saw Nigel grinning, tilting his head to a nearby tree, noticing that there were two kids their age were under it. Rachel saw this. She grinned wider than Nigel.
“Numbuhs 60 and 86?” Nigel asked, covering his mouth so the roar of his chuckles wouldn’t escape.
Rachel simply nodded her head. “Yeah, they’ve been dating for the past couple of weeks.”
“Really? But I thought Numbuh 86 didn’t like boys?”
“Oh, she doesn’t. But Numbuh 60 was able enough to well...stand up for her, if you know what I mean. After the whole Nineteen-Century incident, I saw that Patton had held… some sort of grudge that he held for our ancient operative. But he just wanted to see Fanny happy, that’s all what mattered to him. But about a few months later, Fanny had given up loving Fancy-Pants, and went searching for… stronger, bulky men like Patton. And he still hadn’t given up on her. And so…” she came to a stop, shrugging. “And well… that’s all the information that I had gathered. Fanny was the one to tell me that she and Patton are dating. And I’m very happy for them.” She smiled one of her proud smiles. Nigel nodded. “I understand. I’m glad they found each other too. At least Numbuh 86 will be a tad nicer next time when me or even Numbuhs 2 or 4 greet her the next time.”
“Doubt it, she’ll still be the same around other boys, rather than her “Pattonkins”, I know that as a fact.”
The two laughed.
Sometime later, the sun began to set. Nigel and Rachel sat quietly on the bench side-by-side; neither of them spoke a weird. Nigel coughed lightly, tapping his fingers together rather nervously.
“Rachel,” Nigel said that broke the silence. “Since you’re not doing anything tonight… I wanted to ask you something.”
She turned to face him. “What is it?”
His cheeks turned a light crimson. “Would you… like to go out to dinner with me?
She gasped in surprise and blushed. “Um..uh…yes, Nigel. You really want to?”
He nodded.
“Alright. I guess I’ll go home and change into something more appropriate and formal.”
Nigel stood up from the bench, nodding again. “I’ll do the same as well. I’ll pick you up around seven. See you later!” He rushed off.
Rachel watched him rush off, feeling a blush of pink run across her face.
