@jobs; Dear god, I don't know. Hoagie could be a pilot, PI, cop, fire-fighter, scientist/crazy inventor...ANYTHING, really. And Abby I have no clue. On an unrelated note...there just MIGHT be a new manifesto posted...*coughcough*

I've always thought Older Hoagie and Abby would become future vigilante crime-fighters or something, the types that fight supervillians that cops can't handle. Hoagie building the gadgets and such, Abby doing the stealth/spy work. I dunno why.

@re: Chemistry
So help me St. Dawkins, what are you folks doing?
Na2 is not equal to 2Na
Ever. Na2 implies that the atoms of sodium are in a molecule and, needless to say, they aren't, sodium being an alkaline metal 'n' all.
Here's a difference:
O2 -> you breathe this. 2O -> this would probably cause burns. Nascent oxygen is more reactive.
Further the reaction you are looking for is, ahem,
2Na + Cl2 -> 2NaCl
You have to pay attention to both an equal number of atoms being on each side and to valence. Remember Na wants go give away an electorn (Na+1) and Cl wants to take one (Cl-1[/sup).
Ehh...sorry for the impromptu science lesson.
Anyway, there is a reason to learn chemistry...or anything else scienc-y in fact. First everything you learn serves to expand your mind and your view of the universe makes you appreciate more the wonder of existance. As for practical uses, well, it sure helps to know a lick of chemistry so you can find your way around labels on various things. Some also helps in basic house tasks. And finally, with chemistry you can blow stuff up! Awesome or WHAT?
As for writing, well, if you plan to write mystery novels a bit of chemistry pertaining to poisons can be handy (especially in devising intricate ways to commit a perfect murder). And if you plan on writing SF, well, every single ounce of science will be needed
@gabbie
Oooh. On first blush the manifesto seems very awesomerrific indeed. I'll have to give it a detailed run down as soon as I get the time.
And, wait...astronomy homework? Awesome. What are you doing exactly?
@re: It's can(n)on!
I notice not a single comment on the interesting HP-themed song I posted a while back. I really do think you should check it out. Come one, people. It has pirates...

*forces eyes on the Chemistry notes and screams* That's what we're currently learning! Thanks for the introduction. ;D Sorry for acting hyper tonight. -- I was absent (from the forum AND SCHOOL) today because I felt terrible and my head ache added much to my suffering. I'm glad I overslept this afternoon shooing all the pain away. @ gabbie: Wow, Astronomy as a subject? First time I heard about it... I think it's a cool subject *space lover* @ manifesto: I'll try checking it as soon as I'm done with my Technical Writing homework (yup, I know... it's a subject 0__0 ) @re: Can(non): I'll try tonight... >_> <_< *looks around* In case my parents come home... But I'll download it now to be sure. ADDITIONAL STUFF: Oh yah, I just downloaded, listened and enjoyed it. The introduction was so funny!! Yaarr... yar.yaryaryaryaryarya..--yar say yarr.. yarr... Hermione Granger's the Pirate Queen, the Pride of Gryffindor!!And yes, I just found out that yesterday was REALLY the Internation Talk-Like-A-Pirate Day. Too bad our officers didn't suggest it to us... Oh what fun it could have been. ;D Yarr.

@kcg If I ever do that to my kids, I'll commit seppuku. I don't want to be a "cool parent"...more like a "laid-back" parent. At least the guy was cool about it. ;D @chemistry I'll leave that in the hands of the pros. I'd blow up my kitchen if I even attempted any of that. ;D @older guys Wait until you get to be my age. Then you'll change your viewpoint. The "hot" guys aren't older. They're younger. ;D When I was in my late teens-early 20s, all of my boyfriends were 5+ years older than me. Now? Guys a few years younger than me look at me. Of course, it helps that I don't look my age. @song & manifesto I'll check them out after I get back from apple picking.

Re: Chemistry Sweet, I had actually REMEMBERED all that from school! That's kind of amazing for me really. @gabbie Astronomy, huh? I wish they'd taught us that! That's something sciency that I am really interested in. Also, I flicked through your manifesto and it looks pretty kewl. I'll read it when I have time! Re: The song Still need to hear that. Sounds like fun.

What? You folks don't have astronomy in High School? Shame. It's a really fun subject.
@re: manifesto
Es is sehr ehrfürchtig! Schokoladeshippen für Ewigkeit!
If my old German teacher saw this I'd be doing irregular verbs untill the cows come home and, indeed, build one.

@astronomy That was a "core class" or whatever the hell they called it when I was in college. When I saw what it actually was, though--no stargazing trips and lots of theories (eeergh)--I dropped the course ASAP. Nah, American high schools aren't exactly known for interesting elective subjects. @my busy day Picking apples, picking up daughter from school, taking girls to the beach, browsing in a few cool shops, then coming home and heading right to the 'puter. ;D @manifesto Sweeeeeeeeeet job, Gabbie!

@something I figured you guys may like to know-
According to Mr.Warburton, all of sector V is in CARAMEL. Just thought you'd be interested in knowing.
@cool news-
Remember those kittens that I named after sector V that I'm fostering? Well, Nigel, Hoagie, and Kuki are adopted, and someone is interested in Abby... BUT I now get to keep Wally! ;D I gotta post a picture of him.
@can(n)on song- XD that was funny

@mad Science
Off topic, I know, very off topic. ;D
My kid wants me to sign him up for the Mad Science afterschool program. It sounds neat. So I'm planning on signing him up.
Too bad our Mad Scientist doesn't live here, or he'd probably be begging the school to let him join as an "adult mad scientist mentor" or something.
;D

I just got back from school; AUGH. My shame is nigh. We had to present videos today. Me and My Partner wanted to make it funny. Bad idea. One scene she's in a bathrobe shaking a jar singing shake your booty. Luckily we cut out before my traffic report. I misuse a word. I was talking about a car crash and said Travesty instead on Tragedy. Travesty, of course, means 'fake' Which it is, as the cars are matchbox cars Also, I am the voice of an evil lizard whose taken over the world. Mua-hahaha!!
