Great. This is *exactly* why I wasn't interested in 16 yo males at 16. My own son, God love him, still has a decade to go. If he read until he passed out, I'd be a happy mom. ;D

Such is the consensus, as it would seem. I do think he needs to report to the Ministry Of Love for counselling. I hear they can do absolutely wonderful things in room 101.

My mom says I read too much. She's always complaining how I'm wasting my time reading and not doing anything useful.

;D No seriously, it's hard to imagine a more useful passtime than reading. It's fun, deepens the mind, expands the vocabulary and broadens horizons. And, best of all, there is an almost infinite amount of books to read. You will never run out!

I could only read if I'm with a group in school. Whenever I read, or TRY to read, I usually nod off or fall asleep.
The only book I've ever read without nodding off/falling asleep is Stephen King's Cujo.

Mmmm, I love Stephen King. Favorite author ;D Cujo is a good book--although not my favorite of his by far (IT gets that honor ^^). I am a readaholic XD

I know! But nooo, my mom thinks fiction is 'polluting' my mind with nonsense. But she still doesn't like it when I read nonfiction. The only thing I can read is music and SAT workbooks.
I like Stephen King's Carrie.

Your mom doesn't know what's good for you.
I've been reading since I was 3, and I haven't stopped.
My favorite SK book? By far--The Shining.

I prefer Dean Koontz myself. The only books I ever read that were written by Steven King was Cujo[/] and Pet Semetery. (Or however the heck it was spelled)

The Shining is my second or third favorite. It's SOOOO GOOD!
I would kill for a Shining based KND episode.

@marela
Tsk. Tsk. Tsk.
What your mother does is, in my (rather thick) book a form of child abuse. A good steady diet of books is a must-have for a proper life. We, the literati, have a word for someone who doesn't read and it's 'benighted savage'.
Life without the occasional morsel of poetry is, in essence, meaningless.
As for favorite books...oooh....hard to tell really. I'm an omnivorous reader. I'm really fond of Tolkien and Milton and Pavić and a whole host of others really. I'm especially fond of the authors who pander to my sesquipedalian predilections -- like Jack Vance.
@gabbie
Well there was that moment in DIAPER... ;D

That's a sooperific idea!
Neither the Kubrick movie or the miniseries were as good as the book. Adaptations always miss the "spark" that made the original source so good.

Which is why I always prefer the original.
