This is probably going to start a war, so flame ahead.
I have my own favorite couple, Kuki and Wally, but I think everyone gets too crazy over this couple stuff.
These are 10 year old kids we're posting about, folks!
Now I'm not saying that kids don't have boy/girlfriends and sweet feelings for each other at that age, but the way some of you are into these couples is a bit much.
What about if Mr. W did an episode where we see the gang at 25? That's 15 years into the future. Do you think any of 'em are going to wind up with each other?
I'm saying that from the viewpoint of someone who didn't wind up with my sweetie from young adulthood.
Go ahead, flame away, my sword and shield are up...

It'd be cute if they all ended up paired up, but I doubt they would. I don't think that Numbuh One's going to marry Lizzie, and they're one of the only canon couples on the show.

That's a totally justified opinion, just pray that flamers won't come I hope my opinion won't offend any romance huge fans (since I was one) but since last days, all those couplings became... cute but made less and less sense to me. Besides, the fact that they are a team built on friendship doesn't mean that they'll always stay with each other in the future. As an example, even though n.4's got an adorable crush on n.3, he might sadly end up with someone that no one would expect. But again, this is a cartoon. I think that they won't recognize each other, but maybe some memories would come back... (omigod I can't believe I just said something so pessimistic about couples, especially the 3/4 one Please don't hurt me for that.)

Heh. You think the shipping wars in the KND fandom is that bad? This is nothing but a spark from a campfire, compared to the couples wars in every single anime fandom...

I highly doubt this will end up in flame. KND fans tend to be a lot more respectful of opinions than most fans... at least, that is what I observe, anyway.
Either way... yeah, you have a point. They're 10, and chances are, the current loves that they have won't last. I knew people who were in love and together at that age, but they eventually split up sooner or later. There's also puberty to worry about, as that can easily break a childhood relationship. Don't forget decomissioning.
Still, we're allowed to have our fun, aren't we?

Oh, there's nothing wrong with having fun! It's the fans that are a bit, er, obsessive that make me shake my head. (I'm going by what I read on fanfiction.net...Geez!)
Anime couples, eh? I'm not into anime, so I have no idea what goes on at those boards...but speaking as someone who has precious little time to herself, the obsessiveness borders on weird.

Why is this fandom so centered on romance anyway? Is there any real reason?

I blame it on Mr. Warburton himself. He introduced it into the show with LIZZIE, giving us the first (and only?) canon couple. Thus, other non-canon couples were bound to follow. Basically, the mindset is "If Numbuh 1 has somebody, so should everyone else!"
I could be offbase with that, though.

Believe me, it is horrible there. Why is this fandom so centered on romance anyway? Is there any real reason? Pretty much every fandom is like that, not just KND. I really don't know why a lot of people are so darn obsessed with romance mush, ditching plot, action/adventure and ICness ust to get their OTP (One True Pairing) into a mushy cuddly fest every two minutes. That's an exaggeration, by the way, not every story is like that. But there are some fics where it ISN'T an exaggeration, sadly. Edit: Changed a word to make it look less harsh.

*cough* badly written 3/4 stories *cough* Heh heh, yeah. The sad thing is, at least to those who are not 3/4 fans or big romance shipppers, is that the badly written romance fics almost always get the most reviews, more than general action or humor stories. *sigh* But I guess the reason romance is written a lot is because it is usually the easiest genre to write about. It is tough to pull off a great action/adventure scene without making it seemingly drawn out or too quick, stale or overly dramatic, etc. Humor is probably even tougher because different people are amused by different things at different levels. What's funny to one person may not be all that funny, if at all, to the next. But for romance, all you have to do is have two characters say "I love you" over and over, and hug and kiss a lot, and boom, romance.

I know that most fandom have some ships, but this one has more than most. Did you know that over half the KND fics on fanfiction.net are romance? That's really rare, to my knowledge. Even the Harry Potter section has a lower ratio than that.

Even the Harry Potter section has a lower ratio than that. no way. are you SERIOUS? HP, land of crazy shippers? land of massive vendettas, destruction of people's reputations, of FIST FIGHTS over pairings? ....woah.

Yeah. Kids Next Door has 967 fanfics, 499 of which are listed as romance, and Harry Potter has 184,893 fanfics, 81,099 of which are listed as romance. So 51.6% of all KND fanfics are romance, and 43.86% of all HP fanfics are romance. That's nearly an 8% difference.
Harry potter fans have fist fights over pairings? Wow.

Harry potter fans have fist fights over pairings? Wow. oh, the stories i've heard... it's madness. ah, but... if you're just using ff.net, it's an incorrect statistic. a large percentage of HP romance fics are also nc17 (or M+ now, i guess) and thus aren't listed on ff.net. wheras i think maybe two people write KND smut, so for statistics perposes ALL knd romance can be on ffnet. a large number of what are technically shipperfics are also listed under angst (in hp) as well, wheras most KND romance is fluff. but yeah, even with 43%. it still makes the point that most of any fandom is romance.
