When I was in Japan, I brought my KND t-shirt, and one day, I was wearing it, and my host-family asked who the characters were. I introduced them as, "Nigel", "Hoagie", etc. and they laughed when they heard Wallabee's name.
Then they asked if Numbuh 5 was a "koku-jin" I think. I didn't know what that was, but their guess was probably as good as mine and so I said yes.
Then they tried guessing Numbuh 4's nationality. First, they guessed Japanese, and then they guessed Chinese, and I was like, "Erm... he's Australian.
" and they were like, "Ohh!"
And then they tried guessing Numbuh 3's nationality and the conversation went something like this:
Host-mom: Japanese? Ah--Chinese!
Host-sister: Yeah, maybe Chinese.
Me: She's Japanese.
Host-mom: Oh! Her name was...?
Me: Kuki.
*host-mom and sister exchange glances, and they said something that I couldn't understand*
Then I told them Numbuh 1's and Numbuh 2's nationalities. I think that they liked Numbuh 4 the best. ^^;;;
