Also try to spice your life up a little while you're away.
Never said I was the life of the party. But you're the biggest bore of all.

Point of contention: MHG was declared a mod after another member (Mariostar) suggested that we needed more mods. I said no. We had enough mods. NumbuhInfinity and a host of other members agreed. Then Numbuh 1024 said he was going to take a sabbatical of sorts and nominated MHG for mod. I agreed. So did many others. Most importantly Stardrifter agreed. And so she became a mod. At no point do I recall a single voice of dissent. What part of this process do you have issue with? Why didn't you bring those issues up earlier?
As for complaints, well, did you PM the admin? That's pretty much the final court of appeal around here. Failing that, did you make a Suggestion/Updates thread in a timely fashion outlining your grievances? I may not agree with you, but if you have problems they deserve to be addressed.

No, he kept his "voice of dissent" quiet until it suited his purposes. Got a lame Machiavellan strategist amongst us, folks.
He wasn't just complaining about my modding: it was yours, mine, and Numbuh Infinity's.
Why?
Because HE was "insulted" by Regan in the "Who do you miss?" thread, and no one modded it, i. e. jumped to his defense.
See, it's all about him. But you knew that.

Since it's becoming relevant, I guess I should link to the "We Need New Mods" topic. In all honesty its better to just link to the freaking topic than it is to give each other's own "accounts" of it. No, he kept his "voice of dissent" quiet until it suited his purposes. Got a lame Machiavellan strategist amongst us, folks. He wasn't just complaining about my modding: it was yours, mine, and Numbuh Infinity's. *raises eyebrow* I never complained about Infinity. Did I? 1) There were a couple of topics before that where Regan and/or Scone had entered just to flame me. 2) Flaming another poster is a clear violation of the forum rules. 3) Last I remember, it was a mod's job to handle things like this. That you refuse to (and that you're trying to pull this sorry "victims shouldn't complain" routine) shows just how unfit for modhood you are.

Wha...
I just said that victims SHOULD complain. And that your problems should be addressed.
I have withdrawn my intervention in the relevant thread due to conflict of interest. The same way, for instance, that I would not mod your behavior now: I am in an argument with you now, and any mod actions I take could be reasonably construed to be consequences of said argument. I explained this over PM, did I not? Thankfully, I'm not the only mod on the forum: you could have called, say, NumbuhInfinity. Or Numbuh 1024. They were both around and are both senior to me.
I do not recall a single case of you being flamed and me deliberately not reacting except that one. Remind me of the others if you will.
Further, you linked to the thread, fine. Please tell me how my account differs?

Wha... I just said that victims SHOULD complain. And that your problems should be addressed. That's what you say. Madame, however, seems to feel differently. I mean, now she's saying that reporting trolls is "egotistical." Exactly what makes her a fit mod, again? Video Games vs. Everything Else--dumb topic, but still I was flamed without provocation, you saw it, you did not react. It really doesn't, except that you left out how Madame was basically begging to be a mod before the position was even open.

Sigh.
Guys, I'm going to say it: I'm getting bored with arguing with this guy. I'd like to end this nonsense, which I am aware that I started here and am still going on with, except for one big reason: this guy's ego.
Please read the post that links to his LJ--the one from early 2005. This guy thinks if you stop arguing with him, HE WINS. And on and on and on it goes.
Yes, I'm perpetrating the argument, but if no one stops him, what's going to happen?
He'll reach out to some of you that PMd him. You'll become "friends". He'll AIM you or whatever. (This same pattern happened with Parron on the LJ thread, and undoubtedly others.) Then he'll get bored with and start picking on you, and vice-versa. Things heat up. They explode. And the cycle starts all over again.
I'd like to put a stop to this vicious cycle. It's proving to be harder than I thought. It's hard trying to argue with people who have delusions of their own grandeur. Look! Now HE wants me out of my mod position!
I guess he wants 0xFF out, too. He said that Infinity "did nothing" after that thread. 0xFF's excuse for opting out was no good, either. He didn't want to get into another argument, but see, we had to defend JAMES against REGAN and SCONE.
Argh. Ugh. And argh again...

I mean, now she's saying that reporting trolls is "egotistical." I can't speak for her. I'm not sure we have a definitive criterion. What makes her unfit? If you have genuine grievances: complain. It's the right thing to do. I don't recall flaming. I recall sharp language being used. Not actual insults. I may have been wrong though. Did you seek the opinion of another mod? Did you complain? Besides I was part of the discussion and modding in such an instance would probably be bad for the same reasons as before. I was defending the process of mod selection not her attitude. Not that the attitude of "I'd like the job." needs defense.

I don't recall flaming. I recall sharp language being used. Not actual insults. I may have been wrong though. Did you seek the opinion of another mod? Did you complain? Just for the record.... You probably don't recall any because there wasn't; out of curiosity, I looked up the old thread, and outside of condemning, laughing support I can't find anything that would really qualify as "flaming." Furthermore, James, just so you know since you seem to have such beef with it, I'm a little shocked that the "who do you miss" comment caused such a stir - Nella linked me to the thread, I laughed, slapped down "you are a loser" ( hardly the worst insult that's ever passed between us imo) and went on my way, never to return. I actually had no idea that anything ever resulted from it. Color me shocked. XP ~Regan
