Either one. 'Da Speedy, Cool Blue Hedgehog or the lil' plumber dude that loves to kick the crud outta Bowser? For me... Sonikku 'da Hedgehog. I grew up with Sonic the Hedgehog 2, and Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog.

Sonic.
Mario the plumber does anything BUT plumbing. He's funny, but I found it hard to take him seriously.

Mario.
I grew up playing his games, man. Sonic's got nothing on the plumber. ;D

Sonikku! Mario is more classic, but the Sonic characters are way better, plain and simple. Characters make the big difference for me.

Me too! My favorite is Blaze.. probably because she has a cool attitude, knows how to kick-butt and take care of herself (unlike another certain princess... *coughElisecough*) and she can burst into flames! MEW! :3
I wonder if Sonic Unleashed will be good.. but probably still not as good as Super Mario Galaxy. I heard it's like--the best game ever.

8O Orly? I gotta get it.
Super Mario Galaxy was fun, but the ability to walk on the ceiling made my brain go all weird. o.O I'm like, "Okay, which way am I standing right now?"
But the thing about Sonic games is that there's something for everyone. In Adventure 2 Battle they even had this huge section specifically for the music of the game. And raising Chao is just awesome. :3

You're also going to be raising Chao in Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood. It's for the Nintendo DS, and it comes right out on the 30th! :3

Hmm. Characters may be better, but Mario is simple. Easy to remember, easy to play.
That's what I love about it. :3

You're right... though if Mario or Luigi touch any moving object, they end up dying.
...
Yeah, Sonic pretty much does that too. BUT--if he has rings, he will not die. ;D

I'd say Mario. He is to video games what Mickey Mouse is to animated cartoons. The original Super Mario Bros. was significant in two ways:
1. SMB was, in a sense, the start of the platformer genre. All platformers (including Sonic, Crash and Spyro among others) may be different, but they all allude to SMB in the sense that getting to your goal involves jumping and ducking to avoid enemies, obtacles and chasms (and to reach high places, of course!).
2. The game actually had a STORY, and unlike many games theretofore, which were a seemingly endless array of gameplay until the game ran out of memory, SMB had a definite end when you were lucky enough to rech the end of the last boss and rescue the princess.
Of course, in the 8- and 16-bit days the Mario games had a timer where you had to get to the end of the level before the timer ran out or die (I play PS2 and want to know if the newer Mario games still have this feature), but I got through level 1-1 of SMB(1) in well under 60 seconds. I just held down the B button while moving, jumped OVER enemies instead of ON them whenever possible (though I did pick up a mushroom, fire flower and an invincibility star along the way), and WITHOUT getting wounded either!
