I was wondering how everyone felt on the password situation. I'm thinking about removing them, so I want to see how you guys feel on the subject.
If everyone likes them, they'll stay.
if not, they go.
Though however, I do think the RL board should maybe have a password.

I've already banned a couple of new users who turned out to be Fluffles.
I say we keep them until we finally get him to go away.
Guy is a complete waste of space.

Yeah, we'll be keeping them for a while. Who was "fluffles"?

There's no way of telling when the spammers are going to leave or come back, so I wouldn't mind if we kept the passwords permanently. Still, it's sort of a pain. I say we keep only the RL board under lock (because I honestly don't like the idea of my dad, who recently found out about this place, discovering things about me I would rather keep private. And not just him, other people too).

I've thought of having the RL bord protected for that very reason. because if you join, you could easily access personal information.

I say that we keep the passwords. It is a pain in the Alpha Sierra Sierra (Phonetic Alphabet), but it keeps the boards spam free and personal information safe.

It seems like it's necessary for now, but is there a way to keep us logged in all the time rather than have to re-enter the password every single time?

I love how the spammers can't get it through their heads either. The member count WAS down to 1991 a few days ago, and now a few more people have joined. Not all of them are spammers, but I'm pretty sure that I've only seen two of the recent ones that have joined actually post in the Newbie forum. The rest of the new members do not have any personal information and just have absurd names. Their accounts are only activated because they think that once they do, they can spam the crap out of the boards.

personally I don't mind the PW's, since I've noticed the annoying spammers and nobody wants them around.

I say keep the passwords, we really do need to have a safeguard against spammers.
If passwords over the whole forum are dropped though, I agree that they should at least be kept up on the areas suggested by Celra.

I think the passwords are fine, it doesn't take that long to type in 1 word once in a while, and besides, it keeps the spammers out.

The passwords don't bother me at all. True, they might turn off some newcomers browsing the site, but that's not much of a problem. The passwords have done a good job so far, and to be honest having them makes me feel a little more secure on the forum.

I'm glad you feel secure. Thats actually something I think I like. Being a little more personal, and knowing who can read it
