Of the three games, which games do you like better as far as story, characters, and/or gameplay? Kingdom Hearts 1, Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories, or Kingdom Hearts 2? And why?
(Will answer myself soon.)

NOTE: I haven't played the first Kingdom Hearts in a long time, so my opinions on all games may be a bit screwy until I play through that game again.
And SPOILER WARNING, SPOILER WARNING, SPOILER WARNING!!!
Well, as far as story and characters go... Kingdom Hearts II disappointed me quite a bit. It's mostly Organization XIII, at least the ones in this game. Most of them had little to no personalities at all (okay yeah, they "had no hearts" but the Chains of Memories O13 members had way more personalties and purpose than almost every KH2 O13 members combined!), and all but 3 of them only appeared for like, 2-5 minutes through the whole game! They basically went:
Organization XIII: You suck! Sora: NO U! (kills him)
Really, the only O13 members that seemed to have some kind of purpose at all were Axel, Roxas, Xemnas, and Saix. Probably Xaldin since he actually had to do with the crap that went on at Beast's Castle and the stuff he did made him more worthy to have an appearance in the game. The others... eh. The Chains of Memories Organization was much better, IMO, especially when they seemed to have their own agenda while still using Sora, Namine, and Riku. I just liked them.
Axel seemed to have changed from CoM. I remember him being more mean and crazy than his KH2 counterpart. Don't know what happened, guess he changed because Roxas was being messed with. *shrugs*
Roxas was not seen again until near the end of the game, after the game's prolouge. He was basically ignored until then, except with O13 members keep calling Sora "Roxas." I think they could have done more with him (and Namine, too).
The KH2 Disney Worlds seemed to have less purpose than the KH1 Disney Worlds, IMO (though some were still fun to play through). At least in KH1, the Disney Villians were the main baddies for most of the game, all forming together to have the Heartless tear the crap out of the Worlds while finding ways to use Sora (poor guy is so infamous among bad guys). Even the Disney Princesses had more use -- they were all needed to fulfill the villians' plot.
So basically I felt the story and some of the villians were weaker than the other games, although there's some nice plot twists around so there's some points there. I think this is where KH2 disappointed a little.
With all that, I now come to the good points of the sequel. The gameplay is good. Very good. Better than the original. I like the Reaction Commands feature (it not only made enemies and bosses easier, but boss battles look cool when using them, too!), and the Synthesis feature is waaay better. I liked the addition of Drives and Limits, and the Summons have more actions this time around. And they appeared to move Sora's Special Attacks to either Reaction Commands or automatically done doing combos or by pressing Square in the middle of a combo (sometimes he'll do an attack by pressing Square alone). In the original, I think the Attack command automatically changed into a Special Attack, which only appeared depending on your position, I think. I don't remember too well. But anyway, I found KH2's change with this a good thing. I liked how you could change the way your Allies used items and specials (I don't think you could in the original), and setting items to be automatically re-equipped when you leave a battle was cool. The battle command menu changing depending on what World you in was a nice touch.
Oh, and a lot of boss battles were sweet with the Reaction Commands. Especially the final battles.
So I guess, overall...
Story: Probably Kingdom Hearts 1 or Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories, but KH2's plot twists make it a bit harder on this category, now that I think of it.
Characters: Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories.
Gameplay: Kingdom Hearts 2.
EDIT: Oh, I forgot one thing. While I was disappointed with Kingdom Hearts 2 at some parts, there's one thing that got it going: The ending. I loved the ending more than the original, as some things between certain characters got settled and we got a happier ending with our heroes. Dunno, I just like happy endings is all.

I loved the ending more than the original, as some things between certain characters got settled and we got a happier ending with our heroes. Dunno, I just like happy endings is all. SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS Organization XIII ---------------------- Xemnas was in the Original at the end where he screams Kingdom Hearts annoyingly and turns into like 15 bosses.....and he's in KH2 too.... Xigbar I don't think he was in any of the previous ones, nor do I know much about him since I haven't gotten this far. Xaldin I think was in CoM, but I'm not sure since I never beat that one either (Stuck on Riku 3 I think...) Vexen was in CoM I believe (Right before Twilight Town I think....) Lexaeus wasn't in the previous ones either I don't think.... Zexion is my favorite (Dunno why but he is =.=; but I don't think he's in the other ones either.... Saix I don't think he's in them.... Axel is, and he appears a lot throughout the game Demyx only appears twice in the game I think (in the Underworld and then in Hollow Bastion after you rescue Tron) Luxord I don't think was in any of the previous either Marluxia was in CoM as the boss at the end I'm sure..... Larxene is in CoM I think, not sure though.... Roxas I don't even know why he's in the game....but he's obviously the coolest when it comes to battling (Reaction Command = Pawnage) Now on to the Nobodies..... I don't remember Sora becoming a heartless in KH (of course I haven't beaten the game.....) but I'm pretty sure he does..... Gameplay.... Excellent. I love it all except....Magic....it's too hard to use, and you can't have the menu open and jump because the O button is one of the buttons you use. It's also combined with the items, so you have 4 slots for Items and Magic. The magic bar is better this time because It regenerates when you take no damage after you use it all. Reaction commands are also better. They provide a chance to turn the tides of battle. However, sometimes when you fought the Dusk Nobodies, you slid into a wall and they got you -.- I like the worlds, and how episodes are added. The improved Gummi ship is excellent. I never liked having to travel all that way and then mid-way finally get a way to warp.....It's easier this way...... Cut scenes are a little better, but some of them are just playing too long.....like the one right before you battle Demyx..... And finally......the ending. Not much to say about this one. I don't know which is which so I'll just call the one with the 3 Keyblade holders this ending xD I believe that those 3 are Roxas, Sora, and Riku; The 3 Keyblade Holders. Sora Sora is the keyblade holder. Duh. No arguments there, correct? Riku If you care to remember, Riku was to be the real Keyblade Holder but he chose to follow the darkness in his heart, therefore forcing the keyblade to choose a new holder (IE Sora). This eliminated his chance until he could get Sora's keyblade. Roxas When Sora was turned into a heartless, the Keyblade was forced to choose another holder....again.....I think.....so it chose the person most closely related to Sora, Roxas. So for a shortwhile, Roxas became the Keyblade Holder, becoming the 3rd chosen. But then when Sora became a human again, he lost his memories and the Keyblade, until Sora was put into a chamber to regain his memories. Roxas probably didn't remember the keyblade, nor had he any need to use it before the Nobodies found him, so the Keyblade probably chose to reappear when Roxas needed it, and eventually restoring his memories a little bit. Ratings (Out of Ten) Gameplay: 9 Great except for what I mentioned above. Storyline: 7 Needs some work, mostly because it's related to Organization XIII and not so much anything else. Characters: 7 Most are Organization XIII, and Characters from KH1 & 2. Maleficent even returns. Battle: 8 Goes with Gameplay. Interface: 9 I really liked the color scheme and how much easier they make it to equip stuff....but I still get confused..... Cutscenes: 9 The graphics are pretty good and the voice overs are done well. But some of them are too long or too short to be of much importance.... Average: 8.2 Good job! I agree that most of this game is better than Kingdom Hearts 1 and Chain of Memories! With the exception of Characters. They just need to have Roxas be of more importance than a person to play as while Sora is sleeping...... END SPOILERS END SPOILERS END SPOILERS

SPOILERS! SPOILERS, SPOILERS, SSSSSSSSSSPOILERSSSSSSSSS !!! (This'll be the last time I'll warn for them, so if you still haven't beaten the game, do that first before coming back to this thread.)SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS Organization XIII ---------------------- Xemnas was in the Original at the end where he screams Kingdom Hearts annoyingly and turns into like 15 bosses.....and he's in KH2 too....
I think that was still Xehanort's Heartless. Xemnas was somewhere doing his own thing. The only Organization XIII member that appears in both Chain of Memories and KH2 is Axel. Xigbar, Xaldin, Demyx, Luxord, Saix, Xemnas, and Roxas appear only in the sequel game. Lexaeus, Zexion, Vexen, Marluxia, and Larxene appear only in CoM. Though Xemnas isn't named in CoM, he is the "Superior" that everyone keeps talking about. It's sometime during your first visit to Hollow Bastion. Yeah, the spells in this game are a little harder this time around. I hardly ever used Magnet for anything except to get pass the story events in Atlantica, and Reflect is mostly useless because you gotta use it in just the right time. It sucked they got rid of KH1's Gravity and Aero. I don't remember if I used Stop too much in KH1, though; I think I did sometimes. MP will still recharge if you take damage (so I'm not sure where you got "if you take no damage after you use it all"). There's an ability called MP Rage that'll restore a bit of MP if you DO get damaged, though. Yep. Gummi Ship battles are cooler this time around, and the World Map is better. I still found creating your own Gummi Ship kind of useless, however, and it should only be done for the heck of it. I think you can go through all the Gummi Routes simply from using the Sample Blueprints. That was probably the longest cutscene in the game. But it was also one of my most favorite parts in the game, so it's all good. Haven't beaten KH2 yet, I guess? Riku was meant to be the real Keyblade Holder? Man, I really need to replay the original game. The whole Keyblade Holder buiz you mentioned is kinda interested, as I never thought too much about it before. Yep, I forgot to mention the graphics. I just played Kingdom Hearts 1 a bit after not having playing it for so long. Yeah, there's a BIG difference in graphics and menu interface. Let's just say that the sequel's menu is much, much better and easier. Also, this could be just me, but I noticed a bit difference in character style, too. In the first game and Chain of Memories, FMVs and in-game graphics were a bit more anime style; look at Sora and Kairi for example. In the sequel game, FMVs seemed a more realistic style; again, look at Kairi (major difference there), Sora, and Riku, especially during the ending FMVs. Yeah. Organization XIII and their purpose/screentime (and the purpose of the Disney Worlds) were really my main problems with the sequel, and I, too, wish Roxas had more screentime. But overall, it was one fine game. I haven't seen the secret bonus movie yet, but from what I hear, it suggests a possible third game.

I meant that it stops recharging for a little bit after you take damage. Yeah, in the first one when you remeet with him he tells you that. He also takes the keyblade for a short time in Nevereverland, and only one of the chosen can hold the keyblade without it being returned to the owner by magical transportation stuffs. Sora eventually beats Riku and gets it back in the same level though.... Kairi's hot xD And, no, there is no third game to be released yet announced, BUT in the works is "Kingdom Hearts Final Mix" and it remakes buncha stuff. Look it up on Wikipedia, but it's supposed to reveal one of the 3 masked people in the ending
