It's coming. One of the most controversial games over the last few years will be released in October. This game has drawn public protests, resolutions by school boards, and efforts to have it declared as a public nuisance despite very little revealed about the content (ironically, it might not even get rated M if there is no blood in the final version).
So, what do you think about it? Has the controversy affected your position on this game either way? Or, did you formulate your view outside of it based on the game's premise? Are you planning to buy it when it comes out? For those of you still living at home, will your parents let you get it? Right now, I'm going to stay neutral, as again, not much information is known about the story or gameplay, and I don't want to think it will be a great game just because Jack Thompson hates it or just because it's a Rockstar project.

Ah, yet another unoriginal R* game entirely based on controversy to increase its sales. Ol' Jack Thompson's already helping it a damn lot, too.

Ha, Rockstar's becoming infamous for purposely pissing people like Jack Thompson off, isn't it? ;D What IS this Bully game about, anyway, and why is it so "controversial"? And does anyone else find it ironic that games like GTA receive MORE attention (and gain more people buying it) because all the haters like Thompson keep on talking about it over and over again, and quite loudly at that?
Anyway, I'm not getting it, either. The only GTA game I've touched was Vice City, which belongs to my brother, not because I hate it for what it is or something, but because it just doesn't appeal to me, is all. I'm not bothering writing 10-page too-long-didn't-read essays and trying to get it (and every other "violent game" [even though some games have the same level of violence as a Saturday morning action cartoon/anime]) banned from the world, because that's just dumb, IMO.

The controversy about Bully is that it depicts violence in a school setting. In post-Columbine America, that is a big no-no. Jack Thompson repeatedly uses the phrase "Columbine Simulator" when describing this game. even though it's all but confirmed that there will be no guns in the game and nobody dies (though you can beat other students with baseball bats). There is still enough violence to either encourage students to bully others, or exact revenge on people they feel bullied them, at least according to critics.
For a very rough overview of the plot, your character is 15-year-old Jimmy Hopkins, who after being expelled from several schools is sent to Bullworth Academy, full of jocks, greasers, nerds, preppies, and bullies. You choose your alliances, carve your place into the school, fight other bullies, while also trying not to run afoul of the tyrannical principal.

Woah. You guys really wont get it just because of the controversy? I mean sure it doesnt look like the best game ever or the most inspirational one but its at least worth an overnight rent to see what the games all about and what its gameplay is like

It is officially rated T. For Jack Thompson, Peaceoholics, and all the other doom and gloom sayers, in the words of a famous bully:
