I still regard this as the king... no, emperor of strategy. Even though it's old. The graphics are great, the gameplay better and the X-pack is even more fun.
I usually play with the Byzantines. My favourite tactic is the Paladin Rush. I get 2-3 groups of 40 paladins and send them to the enemy. I encountered a problem with it today, as I was battling some Persians, and their Elephants were annoying me. So, I sent 20 halberdiers, 80 paladins and 33 petards to deal with them. Disaster. I usually play single on 6, deathmatch, on an island map, with 6 peasants per resource, two teams of 6 to surround my island with towers. My most recent game - I had captured 4 relics and plugged in an ally to trade. Honestly, allies are useless. I actually had 30 trade cogs.

I usually play as the Aztecs. When I was playing the first Huns scenario recently, I walled off the one entrance to the Persian city and built a couple of castles. I was cheating, but it was fun.

I sometimes cheat in campaign mode. But the Romans fell immediately. The good thing about the Huns is that they don't need houses, and 100 wood is a great price for not needing 30-40 houses. When I was playing as the Huns, I actually filled a lot of towers with crossbowmen. The population limit was quickly reached. I like bombard towers but they aren't accurate, but they can blast a ship to pieces in just one shot. I only play standard games with conquest setting. I discovered Petards in a demo of the X-Pack, in the first Aztec scenario.

That's why I also enjoy playing as the Huns. No houses.
Do you have a favourite campaign?
