religion is a complicated thing. No one will probably ever truly understnad it because there is always at least one of these questions: (1)Who was the first one here and how were they created? (2) How do we even know he is real? (3) are there more than one god? One big problem in society today is that people think that there religion is right and want to make it the only one. A problem in religion is that if evil were destroyed, balance would also be destroyed because then the good that there once was would no longer be called good since there is no opposite of good anymore. So religion could all be real, or it could all be fake. For all we know, humans lived way before dinosaurs and de-evolved into small organisms for some rewason and then evolved again. It might be this and that we might do this all over again. Religion is very complicated everyone. It is all based on faith and beliefs. I think you're confining "religion" to judeo-christian beliefs only... A belief system such as - say - buddhism does not even involve a heaven/good or hell/evil, nor does it really concern those three questions to so large an extent. Instead, the purpose is not to achieve a better afterlife by following God's laws and behaving yourself while alive, but instead to achieve understanding and enlightenment through your own efforts. True, buddhism requires you to follow the teachings of others, but Judeo-Christian religions are unwaveringly adament about obeying a set of rules set before you. Which - looping back to the original topic - is a big problem with thise whole anti-homosexuality mess. It's really too bad that so many hold these stringent beliefs when they originally were not even their own. Instead, ideally everyone should be allowed to analyze the facts, think, and come to their own conclusion, whichever one that may be. ~Regan

how do we know that this is even real? How do we know if anything is evenm real. How do we know? Knowledge is based on what others say and prove, but if one were to prove them wrong, would that destroy everything they worked for? God gave us free will, so he would not give us knowledge, we must WANT that knowledge first. God is too complicated to understand. Mysterious is his love and his power. But what if it's all just him playing with us? What if he creates other places just like earth to test out which species is fit to rule? Knowledge is not free, god wanted us to work for it and to desire it.

What's next? Humans and animals? It's not just religion. It's common sense. ...you're not biased. You're just stupid. An animal has the same capabilities as humans! It has the same emotions, intelligence, and LANGUAGE as us! But of course people are supposed to marry their goat! Because you know a goat has the capability to judge for him/herself and to at least write on a marriage certificate. That comment is so ridiculous that I have no idea why I am even honoring its existance by replying to it. ...oooh! May I join the marriage too? Why settle with a threesome when you can have a FOURSOME instead? But, you are my crush. I wanted to marry you : ( And, how in the world did animals come out of this Makuta O.O?

is anything really worth it, is it? What if this god we know is just fake? What if God never made us? Then what? These questions are answerless as "what would we see if there were no colors, black or white" or, "if a tree falls in the forest, and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?" Humans know much, but still have much to know. All we can ever do is learn. Most religions are based on faith, but what if god never revealed to us, what if he never showed up? Would our opinions like this be the same? Probably not. So alot of answers you give about topics lkike this are based on what you know about it and what you were taught about it. These are the elements of opinions.

Wow. This thread go a lot bigger.
I'm beginning to have problems following people's arguments, but I'll just say that I see no reason why homosexuality would be considered wrong. It's not hurting anybody, and it's not hindering anybody's ability to live. In an unbiased society, anyway.
And people with disabilities should try to act normal? Why exactly? For the sake of being normal?

normality and right and wrong are only different in points of views. Example: Say thtowns are running out of there is a war. Two towns are fighting for some land that they have shared for years, because the towns are running out of room. To both towns, what they are doing is right, and what the other town is doing is wrong. To understand a problem, you must look at it from all points of view.

You know.... there ARE people who think this. Aethiests (or to an extent Agnostics, which is what I am... and wow, that's so not spelled right) do NOT believe that God created man or even the world for that matter. Concerning those "what ifs", how do you ~know~ that he did? Sure, you belive it, but how do you ~know~? Say he did. Then this is the result of that. Say he didn't. Then this is obviously the result of that as well. You know... I'm getting total vibes of.... THE MATRIX from these recent posts. XPP And ooh, weddings, I love weddings! Drinks all around! Who wants to be the Maid O' Honor? ~Regan

Right and wrong are as different as night and day, but both have to be there to create a balance. There is not only light in 24 hours, but there is darkness.

Now we can piss off people who think polygamy is wrong! I haven't said anything impressive, but I can make really yummy french toast for you guys. Can I get in on the poly lovin' too? What's next? Humans and animals? It's not just religion. It's common sense. Animals, under the laws of the United States (and I'm pretty sure everywhere else in the developed world), are not classified as people. Thus, they have no legal rights, especially the Right of Consent. Allowing homosexual relationships to exist unhindered in no way affects these laws, as both partners would be of Age of Consent, and thus legally able to say they wanted the relationship. Animals, children, the mentally handicapped, all who do not have Right of Consent, in no way lose their protections when rights are extended to those who deserve them.

There is not only light in 24 hours, but there is darkness. You're missing the point. Not everything requires a sense of right and wrong. There are grey areas. There are areas that you just accept as-is because you don't HAVE to slap a moral decision onto EVERYTHING ("Oh, look, a tree. Is this tree right or wrong? Uh. What? Hmmm... Maybe it's just a tree. Just, you know... sitting there.") All this talk of ballance and light and dark is reminding me of some cracked-out anime episode. ~Regan

but without right or wrong, no blance would exist. Budhissm has laws such as no killing, right? That would be WRONG to them. They have opinions, and what goes against your opinion may seem wrong to you. Without a defined thing as wrong, everyone could just go around doing whatever the hell they want. And even what is defined as right might be wrong to someone who thinks what the other person thinks is right is wrong. It is just natural to have a right and a wrong. If you just set up wrong, you would call it not wrong, or in other words, right. If you just had right, what you would call not right, wrong. EVERYONE has limits unless they are some sick beast. If they didn't, nobody would live with honor, respect, or poverty. You did not understand what i said. Every religion has a right and wrong. Inanimate objects cannot be good or evil because what they do. It is the one who dOES the action with it that is the good or evil one.

If they didn't, nobody would live with honor, respect, or poverty. I'm not saying that right and wrong should NOT exist. I'm just saying that people shouldn't get so completely, totally, utterly, irriversably tied up in them. Furthermore, something is not "wrong" because it just IS. ("I've decided that the tree is wrong!" "...Why" "Trust me on this one. The tree is wrong; there is a deep-seeded, meaningful reason for this.") From a young age, we are taught that murder is wrong. But is murder wrong because our parents told us? Or is it wrong because life is precious and noone has the authority to take it (with the exception of self defense, etc etc blah). It's so easy to classify something ("That tree is wrong! It's a homosexual tree!"), but it only promotes understanding and general knowledge when people stop and concitter why they believe what they do ("That tree is wrong! It stole my boyfriend and now I can't have baby trees and the forest will die! It's a dirty, cheeting tree!") BTW, off-topic, but could you resize your signature picture? It's doing murder to those with slower connections and screen sizes. ~Regan
