My story is a rather long and complicated one.
See, back in the day, I used to use a chat program called Kali. On it, I had originally went under the name StarStrike (It was a totally random name, and I was like fourteen at the time). Apparently, however, people thought the "-Strike" suffix was cool, because after a few months, a bunch of people started using names that all had a "-Strike" suffix.
Now, I honestly hate being a trend, so I changed the name. I had just been on a Nintendo kick at the time, and thus chose the name 8-Bit Star.
Now, sometime later I started posting on internet newsgroups. On these, I signed up under the 8-Bit Star name, simply because I saw no point in coming up with an all-new name. The 8-Bit Star moniker, for better or worse, was as much a part of me as my real name. After all, it's a name I've used online for like years!
The mutation from 8-Bit Star to JamesEightBitStar, believe it or not, happened because of this forum. You see originall I was going to call myself Numbuh8 (because even I had silly fanboy habits at one point), however it turned out that Numbuh was taken (by Stardrifter), so I chose Numbuh8BS instead. However I changed it to NumbuhEightBitStar, because "Numbuh8BS" could too easily be mistaken for "Numbuh8" and I didn't want people to get me and Stardrifter confused. Finally, I decided keeping the "Numbuh" moniker itself was a bad idea, so I became "JamesEightBitStar."
And if you think THAT's a long story, wait until I tell you about the time I was turned into a teapot!

Err...*pokes name* My name is Abby (well, Abigail, but...Peh.), and I like to confuse people by changing the spelling every once in a while. Yep, and the numbuh 11 bit's because I have this strange fixtation with the number of my age. And I was 11, but now I'm not. threemusketeersabc: Well, pretty basic. Me and my friends (¬_¬ Shut up. I know that's not grammatically correct) Billie and Connie call ourselves the three musketeers. And there's like (A)bby, (B)illie, (C)onnie. Yep. And I wont get into funkygranny, x_sherbet_x, or minisquareish.

Well, the story behind the name, "Tako": As I was making my KND website, I wanted to think of aliases for me and my sister to go by, so basically, I took my sister's nickname, turned it around, cut off the last letter, and got "Ika", meaning "squid", so I said, "Well, then, I'll be Tako (octopus)."
Other nicknames would include several variants of "Hikaru", because the very first manga series I ever read was Magic Knight Rayearth, and my friend, my sister, and I decided to make a fictional version of each of the main characters and model the characters after us (very fangirly, huh?). My friend immediately chose Fuu, my sister then chose Umi, and that left me with Hikaru.
My other penname comes from a jumbled up name of an item found in Final Fantasy Tactics. I'm not even sure why I chose the item or why I changed the spelling of it, but I guess it was just really random.

Whee, nicknames! Let me tell you all about my many nicknames' long an complex histories!
Numbuh 13: Well, where to begin? It's just that 13 WAS my favorite numbuh! Numbuh 13 actually started out as a girl in a story I once wrote for a project in English whom I called Jinx Bailey. (He was a guy to start with, though...) As I wrote on, I saw Jinx was very like me, so I adopted her name. Then, I got into KND (exactly 2 years ago!) and wanted a Numbuh of my own - so, under the sweet influence of Jinx, I deemed myself Numbuh 13.
Vampiretta: I was once reading up on fairies back in 6th grade (wheee....) when I came across a fictional character named Vampirella. I decided that that was a beautiful alias to be called by, but thought that Vampirella sounded old-ish, so I was Vampiretta.
Arwenflames: This is my DevART username! I wanted a name to do with fire sooooo much, and was also LOTR-obsessed. Arwen was my favorite character in the movies, so....not a very interesting story.
Skidmark: Yes, people call me Skidmark sometimes, though this isn't one of my most common aliases...once, I got a dare from some guy to write a swear word on the gym floor. Unfortunately...I knew I would get busted if I actually WROTE it. So I stomped into the gym with my clunky black boots and slid around the floor. It took me half an hour, but it was worth it!! ^-^ I was called Skidmark by that particular guy - and I thought that was a pretty cool nickname! ^-^
Yesssss, my amazing stories have sucessfully bored you to sleep! *evyl laff*

I have two that you'll probably ever see.
The first name I ever went by was "Soopagrrl." This is my LJ username and my FF.net pen name (though I don't have any stories published yet). It started back in 2000 when my mom agreed to buy me a domain name, and I couldn't think of a name to use. At the time I really liked this one font called Soopafresh, so I took the Soopa and added Grrl and voila.
More recenty is "Valvigirl." I've been called many variations of my name since practically birth, and "Valvee" is one of them, the full version being "Valvee Girl" or "Valvadee" or "Valvadee Dedesma". (Okay, now we're getting personal here.) But anyway, when it came time for me to buy a new domain, (Soopagrrl can get kinda old fast...) I chose the more personal "Valvigirl". The spelling was kinda different only because I kinda liked the way it looked and figured you'd get the same sound from it. But yeah, that's about it.
I guess another one you might see if you talk to me on AIM is Valawie. That comes from an old friend of mine. We were joking around one time and started talking like little kids, and she just spat out "Valawie." (Think "Val-a-WHEE!") Her name was Wizzie, which now that I think about it is kinda errrrr.... and our other friend was Meggie.

At my school I like to sneak up behind people and scare them so my friend got the idea to call me phantom and watch me yell at her to stop calling me that....
In the anime Cowboy Bebop (BEST ANIME EVAAARRR!!!) There's a character who's a hacker who goes under the alias "Radical Edward"
So... Radical+phantom...
RadicalPhantom!

Simple for me. I like the sun, and when I was changing my name it was rather sunny, so here it is! My pename is Sunny. Numbuh 183's just a random number. As for my other screenames, Candybucket or GingerSoda, welcome to my weird imagination.

Mine isn't really anything special. I had a feeling that many KND fans would take random numbers for their names. So instead I went with one that I know wouldn't be used much, if at all - Infinity. And I think I'll keep the name for a long time -- after all, I transcend all you other Numbuhs and I go on forever, because I am INFINITY!! Hahaha... ha... ha... Ahem.

Well, mine is elvish. You see, I was at a friends house, spending the night. She is really obsessed with fantasy, expecially Harry Potter and the Lord of the Rings trilogy. So she got the idea to do some roleplay. She had a list she printed off some name-generator site filled with Tolkein Elvish names. I chose Vade (there are two small dots on the "e", which means that it's pronounced "Vuh-DEE"), because my real name begins with a "V". As for armerelhaV, my toonzone forum name, I wanted to pick a name that had to do with my heritage. So, I chose armerelha (probably spelled wrong, but what the heck ), the portuguese word for yellow, and "V" because it's the beginning of my real name. Now that I think about it, I should've chosen Rosa...I like pink more than yellow...

Thank you! Actually, I'm surprised that this thread is doing so well. You guys all have fascinating stories! And I think I'll keep the name for a long time -- after all, I transcend all you other Numbuhs and I go on forever, because I am INFINITY!! Hahaha... ha... ha... Ahem. Heh. I hope you're prepared for the uprising then, O Infinite One. ~Cybra

Mine is kind of interesting. I got it off a MUD. For those of you who don't know what a MUD is, it's Multiple User Dimension, and it's kind of an online text-only version of D&D. There was this one I used to go on all the time. Anyway, on that MUD there was this area called "Seth's Fortress", and if you managed to get through the whole thing you got to fight this guy named "Lord Seth", who had the strongest weapons in the whole thing, so if you managed to beat him (not easy; it takes at least 3 people with excellent equipment to do the job), you could get those really strong weapons. I never actually fought the guy (I was never into the game enough to become strong enough to have any chance of beating him, even if I did get some people to help me), but I really liked the name, so I took it.
For the record, that MUD's name is Aether, and its website is aethar.com if you're interested in it.

Since I can't find another topic, it's time for another round of "How they got their names!"
So, when I was ten, I was very into Banjo-Kazooie. I was also just getting into the internet, and I decided that I needed a screen name. I noticed that a lot of BK fans had BK related names, such as Banjo, Mumbo and Yumblie. So decided to use a character that was unlikely to be taken. After some consideration, I decided to use Clanker, the giant mechanical shark, because he was in one of my theories, and one of my stories. So I did. A few years later, I discovered that the name had already been taken, but he'd left the BK fandom by the time I'd entered it.

I took this name for two reasons (not original at all, sadly ): 1st, my real name is Viviane 2nd, Vivi is my fave character in final fantasy IX In devArt and ff.net, there is also that n.314. Why? Weird thing: at least three times when I was sleeping in another place, my room has been the n.314 0_o
