They were taken to the president’s office. Claire wasn’t among them
“Where’s Claire?!” Nigel demanded
“In a safe place. She’s the last surviving Ancient. They called themselves the Cetra and live thousands of years ago. Now they are just a forgotten page in history. “
“That girl, is she a survivor of the Cetra?” Bradley asked
“The Cetra will show us a way to the Promised Land. I’m expecting a lot out of her.”
“The Promised Land? isn’t that just a legend?”
“Even so, its just too appealing not to pursue. Its said the Promised Land is very fertile. If the land is fertile..”
‘then there’s gotta be mako” Nigel finished
“Exactly. that’s why our money sucking Mako Reactor is necessary. the abundant mako will just come out on its own. that’s where Neo-Midgar will be built, Wigglestein’s new glory”
“Shit! Quit dreaming!” Wally shouted
“These days all it takes for your dreams to come true is money and power. Well, that’s all for our meeting...”
“Hold it! I got a lot I wanna say to you!!!” Wally shouted
David pushed him back, and the group was sent to the cells

“Nigel? are you there?” Nigel looked up at the sound of Claire’s voice through the wall “Claire! are you ok?!”
‘I’m all right. I knew that you’d come for me”
“Hey, I’m your bodyguard right”
“The deal was for one date right?”
“oh.....I get it!” Rachel, who was in the same cell as Nigel, said curtly
“Oh, Rachel, you’re there too!”
“EXCUSE me!” Rachel frowned and sat on the bed “You know Claire, I have a question. Does the Promised Land really exist?”
“I don’t know... all I know is that the Cetra were born from the planet, speak with the planet, and unlock the planet. and then they return to the Promised Land.
“What does that mean?”
“I don’t really know...:
“You ca speaks with the Earth? what does it say?”
“I usually can’t make it out with what it’s saying with all the noise and people...”
“Can you hear it now?”
“The only place I could hear it was at the church... My real mother said that Midgar was no longer safe. Someday, I’ll get out of the city... see the world... speak with the planet,,, that’s what mother said. I thought I would stop hearing her voice as I grew up but...
“Can we get out?” Rachel whispered to Nigel
“Leave it to me, but we should rest first”
“All right” they lay down

Nigel woke up and saw that the door was open “When did it open....” he peeked out and saw the guard was dead
“Rachel! wake up!!”
“What’s wrong?”
“Look outside!”
she looked out and saw the dead guard “I wonder what happened....”
“He should have the key on him... Rachel gets Claire, Ill get the others.”
he unlocked Wally and Bradley’s door “How’d you get it?” he saw the dead guard “what’s going on?!”
“No Human could’ve done this,...” Bradley said “I’ll go on ahead”
they followed Bradley and noticed a trail of blood. the trail started from Jenova’s tank, which was empty
“looks like someone broke in and took the Jenova specimen”
“the trail heads up to the 68th floor”
they followed the blood to the president’s office. Rachel gasped
The president was sprawled over his desk, dead. there was a large wound in his back.
“Looks like he was stabbed” Nigel observed
“Ya know, he doesn’t look so scary when he’s dead, in fact he looks kinda dorky...” Wally said
they heard a whimper behind a plant. Nigel went over and dragged Toilenaotr out from behind it
“P-please don’t kill me!!” he whined
“What happened?!”
“I-it was Sephiroth! I saw him with my own eyes!”
“Sephiroth’s alive?!” Nigel gasped
“He was saying something about not letting us have the Promised Land!!”
they saw a helicopter outside. Toiletnator broke free and ran outside to it
“Clarissa! shit! I forgot about her!” Wally growled
“Who?”
“Vice President Clarissa, the president’s daughter”
they went outside to see Toilenator talking to a young girl. She had long silky strawberry blonde hair with a pink hair bow, icy blue eyes, and was wearing a black blouse with a white suit jacket and matching white skirt. for some reason, she resembled Claire
“So...Sephiroth was here...” she said calmly. she looked over to see the group “ who are you?”
“I’m Nigel, former Soldier first class!”
“I’m form the KND!” Wall said
“Same here!” Rachel said proudly
“ I’m a flower girl form the sums....” Claire said quietly, eyeing Clarissa
“a research specimen” Bradley said
“What a crew. Well, I am Clarissa, the president of Wigglestein Inc.” she said, flipping a strand of hair behind her shoulder
“You’re only president cause your old man died!” Wally growled
“That’s right. I’ll let you hear my new appointment speech” Clarissa said smugly “. Father tried to control the world with money. It seems to have been working, the population thought that the company would protect them. It looked perfect on the outside. but, I do things differently. I’ll control the world with fear. It takes too much to do it like my father, A little fear will control the minds of common people. there’s no need to waste money on the,”
“She likes to make speeches just like her father” Rachel muttered
“Get out of the building with Claire!” Nigel told the others
“What?”
“I’ll explain later, Wally! this is the real crisis for the planet!”
“the hell’s that supposed to mean?”
“Just do it! I’ll stay here and deal with Clarissa”
they ran out. Rachel stayed on the 69th floor “ I’ll stay behind for Nigel! you guys go on!”
the nodded and stepped in to the elevator and started descending. suddenly they saw a huge mech on the elevator next to them, descending at the same speed . it fired and broke the glass on the elevator they were on. Claire screamed and held onto the elevator for dear life. Wally fired at the mech and destroyed it. finally they arrived at the ground floor.
meanwhile
“Why do you want to fight me?” Clairssa asked Nigel calmly
“You seek the promised land and Sephiroth”
“exactly. did you know that Sephiroth is an ancient?”
“’’A lot has happened. anyways, I can’t let either you or Sephirtoh have the Promised Land!”
“I see....” she pulled a shotgun out “well, I guess this means we wont become friends...” she snapped her fingers and a small black panther ran out and headed to her side
“get him, Dark Nation!!”
the panther growled and leap att Nigel. he pulled out his sword and slashed her across the back. the panther fell to the floor, injured but still alive
Clarissa fired at Nigel, but he dodged and ran towards her and slashed. she shrieked and grabbed her bleeding arm. she managed to put on a painful grin “Heh, that’s all for today” she picked up Dark Nation and ran to the helicopter and flew off. he ran back inside
“Nigel! did you get her?” Rachel cried
“She escaped.” Nigel said “Come on, we gotta get out of here quickly!”

meanwhile
“We can’t get out the front door. It’s surrounded by security!” Wally said
“You all get out while you can. Its not you they’re after, its me” Claire said
“That aint happening! you got caught up in this over Joey! Now its my turn to watch out for you!”
“Wally!” Rachel ran down stairs
“Rachel! Where’s Nigel?!”
“Everyone over here! We got an idea!” Rachel said as she hurried to the parking lot.
Rachel climbed into a truck and hotwired the engine “everyone get on!”
Nigel pulled up on a motorcycle. “Lets go!”
They drove out of the building and onto the freeway.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Chapter 8: Leaving Midgar~~~~~~~~~~
“So.... what do we do now?” Wally asked as they headed back to Claire’s house
“Sephiroth is alive. I have to settle the score....” Nigel said quietly
“And that’ll save the planet?”
“Seems like it”
“Awright, I’m goin with you!”
“I’ll go too. I have things I need to find out....” Claire said quietly
“About the Ancients?”
Claire nodded “Many thing...”
“Well, I guess were going on a big adventure...”
After saying goodbye to Elmyra, getting provisions and Claire’s weapon, a staff, they were ready to go. They headed to the city gates
“I guess this is goodbye, Midgar...” Rachel said as they walked outside. They walked up the gravelly slope, and Claire gasped at the view from on top. All around were big grassy hills, and a few mountains in the distance. The sky was dark and sprinkled with stars, which could rarely be seen form inside the city
“Its BEAUTIFUL!”
“We need a group leader for our journey. Course it could only be me....” Wally said
“You think so?” Rachel said, rolling her eyes
“I think it should be Nigel” Claire said smiling
“Damn.... all right. We’ll head northeast to a town called Kalm and spend the night there”


After an hour of walking, they reached Kalm, a quaint little town.
“So, this is Kalm?”
“I’ll be waitin at the inn, hurry and get your butt over there!” Wally said as he headed towards the inn
“Lets go Nigel.” They entered inside. And headed up to their room
“So lets hear your story. You know the one about Sephiroth and the crisis facing the planet,” Wally said
Nigel sighed “.... I used to want to be just like Sephirtoh so I joined SOLDIER, after working with Sephiroth on several missions we became friends. Well, not really friends... He’s older than me and hardly ever talked about himself. I guess you’d call him a war buddy. I trusted him, until one day...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Chapter9: That Fateful Day~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (this chapter could also be called "the day Sephiroth went Crazy)

*Flashback*

Nigel was sitting in the army truck with other soldiers. He was fidgeting in excitement
“Hey, settle down” a handsome teenage boy said. He had long, silver hair, and vibrant aquamarine eyes and was wearing a long black cloak
“I can’t help it, general Sephiroth! They just gave me new materia, and I can’t wait to use it!”
“Well, wait until we get there at least”
“So, you going to brief us on our mission?”
“This isn’t a typical mission...”
“Good!” Nigel said grinning
“Why do you say that?”
“I joined SOLDIER so I could be just like you! But by the time I made it to first class, the war was already over. My dreams of becoming a hero like you ended with the war. That’s why I sign up whenever there’s a big mission, as a way to prove myself!”
Sephiroth sighed “I thought you wanted a briefing.... anyways, our mission is to investigate an old Mako reactor. There have been reports about it malfunctioning and producing brutal creatures. We’ll locate the problem and neutralize it. The reactor is in the town of Nibelheim”
“Hey... thetas my hometown!” Nigel said
Suddenly the truck shook and jerked to a halt
“Sir! Something just crashed into our truck!” the driver shouted
“That would be our monster... I’ll deal with it” Sephiroth said as he went outside. Just a few minutes later, he came back in, wiping blood of his weapon, the Masamune Blade, a 5-foot long katana
“All done. Lets go”
“Wow...” Nigel whispered in amazement
Eventually they reached Nibelheim
“Its your first time back to your hometown in a longtime right? How does it feel?” Sephiroth asked, “I wouldn’t know because I don’t have a hometown”
“How about your parents?”
“My mother’s name was Jenova. She died after she gave birth to me. My father....” he snorted at the memory “...what does it matter? All right, lets go”
End flashback

“Hey wait a minute! The name of Sephiroth’s mum... Jenova... that’s the freaky headless spook we saw at the labs!”
“Nigel nodded
“Wally, will you shut up and let Nigel tell his story? You can ask questions later!” Rachel said
“Rachel, I was only_”
“Please continue Nigel”
Flashback

“We leave for the reactor at dawn. Make sure you get to sleep early. All we need is one lookout so you others get some rest” Sephiroth instructed as they went inside the inn “I’ve hired a guide to the reactor. I heard she’s young, I hope we can rely on her”

The next morning, everyone met outside
Rachel ran up with her dad shouting for her to be careful after her “Hey, I’m Rachel your guide! Nice to meet you!”
“Rachel, you’re the guide?” Nigel asked in surprise
“That’s right! And its good see again Nigel”
“”Its great to see you too, but this is going to be dangerous!”
“Then you can protect me, of course! Lets go!”
“Wait, let me take a picture for a memento!” Rachel’s dad said
Sephiroth sighed “Fine, one picture...”
“Thanks! I’ll give you each a copy when it’s developed!”

They hiked up the mountain trail “It gets harder from here! Follow me across the bridge!” Rachel said
They crossed the bridge, but halfway through it came apart and they fell. Luckily it wasn’t very high up
“Everyone one seems to be all right.... lets go!”
“Hey, Jared’s missing!”
“It may sound cold, but we don’t have time to search for him, so he’ll just have to stay behind”
There was a yell as Jared finally let go of the bridge and fell near them
“Oh, problem solved!”
They entered inside the cave; the walls seemed to glow greenly
Up ahead, the noticed a rock spewing out some green liquid, and hardened and crystallized lumps stuck to the rock
“What’s this?” Nigel asked
“A Mako fountain, a miracle of nature” Sephiroth said
“Its so beautiful!” Rachel said
“When you condense mako, materia is produced. Its very rare to see materia in its natural state, as you ca see by the crystals”
“By the way, when you use materia, why can you usually do magic?”
“You’re in soldier and don’t even know that? Well, the knowledge of the Ancients is held in the materia. Anyone with this knowledge can freely use the powers of the Earth. That knowledge interacts between ourselves and the Earth, calling up magic, or so they say”
“Magic... a mysterious power....”
Sephiroth chuckled
“Did I say something funny?”
“A man once told me never to use an unscientific term such as mysterious power, its shouldn’t even be called magic! I still remember how angry he was...”
“Who was that?”
“Hojo of Wigglestein Inc. An inexperienced man assigned to take over the work off a great scientist. He was a walking mass of complexes.”

They left the cage and finally reached the reactor
“We finally made it! We sure took the long way though.”
“Rachel, you wait here”
“I’m going inside too! I wanna see!” Rachel protested
“Only authorized people are allowed in”
“But_”
“Jared, wait outside with her”
Rachel pouted
Nigel and Sephiroth entered the reactor. It was different form other reactors. The walls were lined with what looked like pods and there was a steel door in the back. The sign above it was covered in cobwebs so they couldn’t read it
Sephiroth examined a large pipe “This is the reason for the malfunction. This part is broken. Nigel, close the valve”
As Nigel closed it, Sephiroth was frowning “Why did it break? .... Oh, now I see, Hojo. But, even doing this, will never put you on the same level as Professor Gast. “This is a system that condenses and freezes the mako, that is when it’s working correctly. Now Nigel, do you remember why mako becomes when it’s further condensed?”
“Uhm.... oh yeah, it becomes materia!”

Right, but this time, Hojo put something else in there.... take a look inside” Sephiroth said, pointing to a pod
Nigel looked through the window and the pod, and gasped in horror and jumped back
“Holy shit! What the hell is that?!”
Inside was a monstrous looking creature. It has scaly blue and red skin; a crown of spikes on its head, and its face was frozen in an anguished grimace showing sharp teeth
“Normal members of soldier are humans that have been showered with mako. Yore a little different forms the others, but still human. But, what are those in the pods? They have been exposed to a very high degree of mako.”
“Is this some kind of monster?”
“Exactly, and its Hojo who produced these monsters. Mutated living organisms produced by mako energy. That’s what these monsters really are”
“Normal members of soldier? So that means... you’re different?”
A strange looked crossed Sephiroth’s face as he came to a realization
“No....was I? was I created this way too? Am I the same as all these monsters?!”
“Seph...”
“You saw it!!! All of them... used to be human.... I’ve always felt since I was small... that I was different form the others. Special in some way.... but not like this....”
End Flashback
“Who would’ve thought the reactor held a secret; like that” Rachel said
“That explains the increase of monsters recently” Bradley said
“We returned to Nibelheim, and Sephiroth confined himself at the in. he didn’t even talk to me.” Nigel continued
“Then he just disappeared, right?” Rachel added
“We found him inside the biggest city in town”
“The villagers used to call it the Wigglestein Mansion, because long ago the Wigglestein family used to live there”
Flashback
Nigel found Sephiroth was in the basement library of the mansion, reading some old files
“An organism that was apparently dad was found in a 2000 year old geological stratum. Professor Gast named the organism Jenova. The organism appeared to be female. X years year x month x day, Jenova confirmed t be an Ancient.... the Jenova Project it approved, use of mako reactor number 1 approved for use.... “ He looked up the report frowning “Jenova project.... my mother’s name is Jenova... is this just a coincidence?”
Nigel decided to leave him alone and headed for bed. A few hours later he woke up and decided to check on Sephiroth, who was still reading the reports?
“Hey Seph, its late, I really think you should go to bed....”
Sephiroth looked up from the file at him, a strange look in his eyes
“Hmph, traitor”
“What?”
“You ignorant traitor. I’ll tell you. This was an itinerant race. They would migrate; settle a planet, than movie on. At the end the end of their hard journey, they would find the Promised Land. But there were those who stopped their migrations and elected to lead an easier life. They took what the Cetra and Earth had made without giving back one whit in return! Those are your ancestors.”
“Sephiroth, what are you talking about?!”
“Long ago, disaster struck this planet. your ancestors survived because they hid. The Earth was saved by sacrificing the Cetra. after they survived your ancestors continued to increase. Now all that’s left of the Cetra are in these reports”
“what does this have to do with you?”
“Don’t you get it? an Ancient named Jenova was found in a 2000-year-old geological stratum, the Jenova Project. They wanted to produce people with the powers of the Cetra. ...I am the one that was produced/”
“Produced?!”
“Yes, Professor Gast, leader of the Jenova Project and a genius scientist, produced me”
“How did he... S-sephiroth?!”
Sephiroth stood up and pushed past him “out of the way. I am going to see my mother.”

Nigel stood there in shock for a few moments, and then ran outside. And was horrified to see that the town was set ablaze
“What happened here?!” he asked “sephiroh...did you...”
he saw Sephiroth in the distance, surrounded by flames, Masamune out and dripping with blood. with the backdrop of flames casting shadows on him, and his eyes glowing unnaturally and his pupils seemingly catlike, he looked positively demonic.
Nigel watched as he walked through the flames out of the town. Nigel had a feeling about where he was headed

as he ran to the reactor, he saw Rachel outside, kneeling next to her dead father
“Papa... Sephiroth did this to you didn’t he....” she whispered, tears rolling down her cheeks. she laid him down gently and ran into the reactor

Sephiroth calmly walked up the steps to the steel door and wiped the cobwebs off the sign, revealing what it said; “Jenova”
“Mother, I’m here to see you... please open this door...”
“SEPHIROTH!!!!” Rachel ran up behind him “HOW COULD YOU DO THAT TO MY PAPA AND ALL THE TOWNSPEOPLE?!” she cried and leapt at him, pulling her first back for a punch.
he calmly took his sword out, and slashed her. she gasped and fell don the stairs.
“RACHEL!!!!” Nigel cried and ran to her side “Are you ok?!”
he checked her wound “its serious, but thankfully not fatal....”
“you promised... you promised that you come when I was in trouble....” she whispered, smiling at him
he tore off a piece of his shirt and tied it around he like a band-aid “just rest... I’ll get Sephiroth...”
he ran through the door Sephiroth broke open
Sephiroth stood before an iron casing, which was in the shape of an angel
“Mother, lets take this planet back together. I’ve got a great idea, lets go to the Promised Land!”
“Sephiroth! how could you do this?! my hometown! my family!” Nigel cried
Sephiroth just laughed “They’ve come again Mother. “ he turned to Nigel “With her superior knowledge, power and magic, Mother was destined to become ruler of the Earth.” he turned back to the case “But they....those worthless creatures are stealing the planet form Mother,,,,” he stroked it gently “But I’m here with you now, so don’t worry...”
he ripped the casing off, revealing the tank underneath, where Jenova was. she still had her head. she had long silver hair, a thin delicate face, and her eyes were closed, but her right eye was cracked open, glowing slightly red. her mouth was formed into a small mysterious smile, as if she knew a secret
“What about MY sadness?! What about the sadness of having my home and family taken away form me?! it the same as your sadness?!” Nigel cried
“My sadness? what d I have to be sad about? I am the chosen one! I have been chosen to be the leader of this planet. I have orders to take this planet back from you stupid people for the Cetra.
“You’re inane!!! I trusted you! “ Nigel took out his sword and rushed towards Sephiroth
END Flashback
“And that’s the end of my story” Nigel said quietly
“Wait a damn minute! aint there more?!” Wally shouted
“....I don’t remember...”
“What happened to Sephiroth?” Claire asked
“In terms of skill, I couldn’t have defeated him”
“Official records state that he died. I read it in the newspaper”
“you can’t really rely of the paper...”
Nigel looked out the window “I want to know the truth.... I want to know what happed back. I fought Sephiroth and I lived,,... but how?”
“Its late. we should get to bed.”
“good idea. well figure what happened in your story later Nigel
They all headed to their rooms.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~chapter 10: Chocobos!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
it was the next day, and they set out on their journey agaon. they agreed not to talk about nigel's tale.
they arrived before a marsh
"hmm... think we can cross it?" Rachel asked
"of course we can!" Nigel said as he wadded in. he was a few feet in, when suddenly a huge monster reared out of the swamp and lunged at him
"ACK!!!!!!!" Nigel screamed and sludged back to land as fast as he could "well, I dont think we can go through that way...."
"course you folks cant go through that way on foot!" they turned around to see a boy wearing overalls standing there "the only way you can outrun the zolom in the swamp is by riding a chocobo!"
"Ive heard of chocobos, but Ive never seen one!" Claire said
"where can we get one?" Nigel asked
"I''ll get you set up at my grandaddy's chocobo ranch! its right over that hill!" the boy said "By the way, the names Billy"

they folowed Billy to the ranch. in the pasture, were huge yellow birds wih long legs. those were chocobos
Claire gasped in delight "Theyre adorable!!"
several chocobos looked up and saw Nigel. they started clucking in excitement and rshed up to him
"Hey! why are they all crowdng around me?!"
Billy laughed "They must think youre a handsome male chocobo!'
"Yeah Nigel! your hair really DOES look like a chocobo!"
"Shut up..." Nigel muttered "now, wheres the ones we can have?"
"unfortuantly, were all out... were just taking care of these ones for some friends. Youre gonna have to catch some"
"Catch a choco?!"
"sure! its not that hard!" he went into the barn and came out with equiptment "here are the saddles and bridles, and some special materia to attact them! the greens are to feed them and stuff!"

they went out into to the field and found some tracks
"ok, there should be some here... now were gonna hide in the bushes, and just wait until they come!" Nigel said
"an how do ya know theyll come?" wally asked
"they'll smell the materia!"
"we can always use you to lure hem in, chocobo head!" Wally snickered
"Shut up!!!"
"Shh! theyre coming!" Rachel hissed
severeal chocobos came into vview and started grazing
"wait.... wait...." NOW!!!!!" they rushed out
Nigel leapt onto ones back and tried to put the bridle on. the chocobo squake in agitation and reared angrily, but he managed to stay on. he managed to slip the bridle on and dug a vegeatble of his pocket and fed it to the bird. it ate the vegetable and calmed down
"How you doing Wally?"
"AGH!!!!! THIS CRAZY CRUDDY BIRD ISTRYIN to KILL ME!!!!!!" Wally screamed as the chocobo chased after him
Rachel rolled her eyes and fed her chocobo a veggie and slipped the sadlle on
"Dont make it angry Wally! give it some food!"
Wally threw a vegetable at it and it went after that instead
"good, now to get that saddle on! Im suddenly hungry for choco fingers...."

after taming the chocobos, they rid across the swmp wihout any problems.
"I think we should keep the chocobos for now. they make travelling faster"
"Yeah, but my butts sore!" Wally groaned and rubbed his posterior
"then walk the rest of the way!" Rachel said, dosmanteling her bird and heading into the cave.
they were halfway through the cave when thye saw David
"If youre here to get Claire_"
"Actually, thats not todays mission."David said "We_"
"Sir!" a short, chubby young girl ran up. she had brown hair in two braids, and her sky blue eyes were half hidden nehind thick glasses. she was wearing a turk uniform, excpet she was wearing a pleated skirt instead of pants "I know you dont like speeches much, so oyu dont have to tell them!"
"Ok then Tabitha, you explain"
"All right!" she turned to the gang "My names Tabitha, I'm the newest member of the turks! We were short on people thnks to what you did to lenny! a;though because of that I got promoted to the turks, I never thought I would be able to get to that rank, I mean it makes me feel happy and.... oh well, anyways our job is ot find out where Sephiroth is! and to try and stop you everystp of they way! or is it the other way around? hmm...."
"Tabitha, you talk to much" Jack said, walking in
"Sorry Jack...." Tabitha said, turning pink
"no need to tell them about or ders. Now go back to your mission and dont forget to file your report"
"Oh right! I'll do it after we go to Junon City where Sephiroth is headed!"
Jack groaned and slapped a hand to his head "Tabitha....."
"Oopsies! Im sorry, I didn mean to blurt it out_"
"Just....go....."
"Y-yes sir!" she ran out of the cave
"keep an eye on her and make sure she doesnt mess up" Jack told David
Davivd nodded and left
David turned to the group "We'll meet again" he left
"That little girl didnt seem like turk material at all"Claire said
"Shes just a newbie. and a fat and dorky one all well!" Wally said
"Wally! you shouldnt talk about people like that!:
"well know we know where Sephiroth is headed. Junon city." Nigel said

"are we there yet?" Wally grumbled as they plowed through the woods
"No we arent! but junon is just past these woods!"
"well, maybe we should rest a bit"
"All right, but we might waste time" Nigel said, siiting down on a log. suddenly he heard a snap in the rees. he leapt up and dodged as a large shuriken* flew past him. someone jumped out of the trees "HHIIIYYAAHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
he pulled his sword out and hit the stranger with the broadside and sent them against a tree
"OW! YOU SPIKEY HEADED JERK!!!!" it was a young girl with long black hair with a green ninja headband, and wearing a green top and beige shorts "Come on!! I'll take you on again!!"
"...no thanks. "
"why? you scared?"
"petrified" he said sarcastically
"hmph, I thought so!"
"whyd you attack us?" Rachel asked
"I just wanted some fun! it can get boring in these woods!"
"well that didnt give you the right to attack us!"
"sory... I gues... wait I know! I'll go with you guys!"
"what?! No way!"
"It'll be fun! besides, you might need my help!"
Nigel rolled his eyes "fine! lets just go..." he started walking
"hey! arent ou gonna ask me my name? I'm Kuki! Nice yo meet you!" she grinned mischievously to herself and ran after them

"there it is. Junon city."
"It looks a lot cleaner than Midgar...."
"Theres a party going on!!" Kuki said happily, hearing music "I wanna go!!!"
"Kuki, wait!"Nigel said as she ran off. he sighed "well, maybe we should spilt up. Wally, you follow Kuki. Rachel, Claire and Bradley will go that way. I'll go this way"
they nodded and left. Nigel startede to go his direction
"Just a minute soldier!" Nigel turned aroud to see a boy with black hair in a red soldier uniform, meaning he was a high class soldier "Why the heck arent you prepared?!"
"excuse me?"
"Come on! were ognna be late!" he grabbed Nigel's arm and pulled him to a door marked "Military Persona only"
"he must think I'm a soldier!" Nigel thought "well, this could be a good chance for some investigating...."
The officer pulled out a spare uniform and tossed it to nigel "Quick put this on and come straight outside, and no slacking soldier!" he left
two other soldiers, a pair of twin boys, were in the room
"Late huh? well I supose youd wanna slack off for this dumb welcoming parade...."
"I'm Kevin, and htis is my brother Kenny. our soldier numbers are 44a and 44b. that was Sergent Patton. though hes young, hes pretty tough,..."
"I'm Nigel, and um, this isnt really my mission.... what parade?"
"The new president's welcomng parade! I hope shes better than the old pres, thugh I kinda doupt it though"
"But shes hot!"
"I dont even know what were supposed to do!"
"well, were gonna march in the parade, then do a send off routine at the sock. She's gonna across the sea, something about going after this general guy...." Kevin said
"And heres the routine were supposed to do" Kenny handed him some instructions "memorize it! We'l meet you outside!"
they left and Nigel climbed into the uniform. "Its been a long time since I wore one of these...."
he put on the blue, visored helmet and headed outside
"about time soldier! now get a move on! were going to be late!!" Patton siad

they reached the main street "crud! its already started! well find a empty pace in the lines and jump in when I give the signal!! now!"
Nigel ran into the street and into the position. he stumbled and tried to keep up with the other soldiers. finally it was over.
"all right dolsiers! five minute break then meet at the docks!!!"
"thank god...' Nigel suddenly noticed Rachel and rann over to her "Rachel! its me Nigel! Listen, I jsut heard tht Clarissa's going overseas after Sephiroth!"
"We just saw Lenny! we heard him say that he heard that Sephiroth was heading west! We gotta sneak aboard that ship!"
"Right I'll meet you there! go get the others and find some disguises!"
"Good luck Nigel!"

Nigel ran to the docks.
"Hey, youre just in time! were gonna start the routine!" Kevin said
'"yes but I dont have time_" Nigel saw three soldiers and 2 sailors board the ship. he recognized the sailors as kuki and wally
"Get into position! here comes the pressident and that big boss guy!"
Nigel sighed and lined up
Clairssa and Mr. Boss came. She seemed to be in a sour mood "This btter be quick!" she growled
"It wont take long Miss President! All right soldiers! 5, 6, 7, 8 and march!!"
Nigel tried to remeber all the steps of the routine that were written down. he was sure he did badly
"hm... very good Sergeant. your soldiers have been well trained, especially that one at the right" Clarissa said, glancing over at Nigel
"Thank you miss president! all right soldiers, dismissed!"
"All right! wanna get a soda with us Nigel?"
"Id like to, but I really gotta go!" Nigel said as he ran to the ship, where one of the soldiers form before was waving him over
the soldier pushed up their helmet, revealing to be Claire "You did great, Nigel!"
"Tanhks Claire" he said as he went in. the door closed, and the ship set sail

“Hey Nigel, do you think I look I look good in a military uniform?” Claire asked Nigel as she joined him upper deck.
“Um, sure, I guess. But you know, girls aren’t in soldier...”
“Hey, hopefully they’ll keep mistaking me for a boy! Were undercover after all!” “ She said, tucking her hair back under her helmet
“Though I hate these....” Rachel muttered
“I know.... you really hate things that has to do with the military...”
Rachel nodded “anyways just wanted to let you know, Kuki’s seasick, Bradley is getting stiff in the case down below, and Wally’s trying to spy on Clarissa.”
“Ok. I’ll go see if she won’t cause trouble,” Nigel said as he headed to the other side of the ship”
He found Wally trying to peer through the window of Clarissa’s cabin
“Look Nigel, its Clarissa. She’s this close but I can’t do a think to her!” He growled “how can she... goin off laughing like that?! because of her... Biggs... Wedge...Jessie! gggrrr. God! I can’t take it anymore! I’m gonna settle things here and_ wait.... is she getting undressed?!” he tried to take a closer look but the intercom blasted
“Emergency alert! Reports of a suspicious character found! Search the ship and report when found!”
“Damn, they found us!!”
“no, they were talking about one character....”
the others ran UN “did you hear the announcement?!” Rachel asked
“yah... you don’t think they ere talking about Sephiroth, do you?”
“we’d better go check it out!”
they suddenly heard a scream coming form the engine room
“That’s Kuki!!”
they ran to the engine room and saw Kuki standing over a body
“There’s dead people here!” she screamed
Nigel investigated the body “Its not a sword wound, so it wasn’t Sephiroth...”
“After a long sleep..... the time has come...” a familiar voice said
“look!” Rachel pointed up to the catwalk, where Sephiroth stood, leering down at them
“Sephiroth!! You’re alive!! What are you doing?!”
“the time... is now....” Sephiroth repeated
“what are you talking about?!”
suddenly Claire screamed. they whirled around to see a large creature standing behind them. it was a magenta color and had lots tentacles. its waist was feminimly slim and two read eyes peered form its head
“What the hell is that?!
“who cares we gotta beat it!!!”
the creature shrieked and swung a tentacle at them. Nigel whipped out hi sword and jumped in the air and started slashing at it. Wally fired at it and Kuki and back and threw her shuriken.
Nigel gave one final swing and cut it in half.
“EW SCK!!” Kuki shrieked as it collapsed into a mass of purple goo. Only one large tentacle was left
“Wait... I’ve seen this before...” Nigel said as he examined it “...one of Jenova’s tentacles....”
“So it WAS Sephiroth! and that thing!”
“He said something about it being time for something....”
“I don’t know what the hells goin on!!!” Wally shouted
“well, hopefully we’ll find out soon enough...”
the intercom went on again “dock workers we will be docking in Costa Del Sol in a few minutes, prepare for docking”
Kuki squealed happily “Costa Del Sol!! I always wanted to go there!!!”
“We’d better hide until were the last ones to leave the ship... hey, you ok Nigel?”
“yeah... I’m fine...” eh said quietly “its just that... Sephiroth is alive...”

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Chapter 14: Beach time~~~~~~~~~~~~
they eventually arrived at a beach resort town
‘Damn! sure is hot here!” Wally said as they stepped off the ship “I feel better now that I’m out of that cruddy sailor suit... ok listen up! Be sure to mingle with regular folks here!
“Oh too bad, I liked your sailor suit Wally!” Kuki said “You looked so adorable in it!”
“whadya mean adorable.?” Wally asked frowning
“Well, why don’t you use the sailor suit for pajamas, Right Nigel?” Rachel suggested
“Keep your mind on Sephiroth, remember this isn’t a vacation.” Nigel said
“Humph Nigel you’re the one who’s always hangin around wastin time!” Wally said “I’m gonna go check out the resort!” Wally said
“I got to go into the shade, the heat is drying up my nose!” Bradley said
“I really really wanna go to the beach!!!” Kuki whined
“fine... we’ll take a break and then head off. Don’t wander off to far.” Nigel said “YAY! I’m gonna go put on my bathing suit!” Kuki said running to the hotel
“hey, wait for us!” they ran after her
After they have left, Clarissa and Mr. Boss came off the ship
“I heard that Sephiroth was on board. Also Nigel and the others were on board too. I heard them...” she turned to Mr. Boss “they all slipped through... you really messed up big this time!”
“I’m sorry”
“is that all you can do? Give one-word answers for everything? Do something useful! I’ll be expecting results!” she stormed off

Claire has managed to convince Nigel to come to the beach with them, despite his protests that he didn’t like the beach. Rachel came up to them, wearing a turquoise bathing suit “Hey Nigel! you finally came!”
“yeah, I made him!” Claire said grinning
Rachel laughed, and then saw something
“Nigel, look! Look who’s over there!”
Nigel looked over ‘who? that girl in the bikini?”
she rolled her eyes “no stupid! that man! Isn’t that Dr. Hojo?”
“Hey, you’re right! Wonder hat he’s doing here... lets go talk too him.” they walked over
“Professor Hojo?”
Hojo looked up from his book “oh, its you brats again”
“what are you doing here?”
“Isn’t it obvious? I’m on vacation”
“no, what are you really doing here?!”
“I believe we’re after the same goal....”
“You mean Sephiroth?”
“You saw him, didn’t you? Hm, I just remembered a certain hypothesis... Have you ever had felt that someone was calling you, or you had to go certain places?”
“I’ll go anywhere Sephirtoth is at! to beat him and put an end to this!!”
“I see... this could be interesting...” he saw Claire “isn’t you that Ancient?”
“I’m Claire. Professor Hojo, cant you tell us anything? I need to learn more about the Ancients, my mother told me...”
“oh, you mean Ifalna? how is she doing?”
“... she died....”
“I see....”
“is Jenova an ancient? is Sephiroth an Ancient? do we all have the same blood?!”
“All I can tell you is that you have to head west. Now if you don’t mind, I’d like to take a nap”
Nigel sighed “No use. That’s all he’s going to tell us. Well tomorrow, we’re heading out west!”

Bradley heard Wally’s voice coming from his room and headed over to it
“Wally, are we going to have dinner soon? I’m quite hung_” he stopped when he saw Wally in front of the mirror, wearing his sailor suit and posing
“Oh yeah.... who’s the man? Yeah Kuki, you like? Who’s your sailor? Grr....”
Bradley just blinked and backed away

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Chapter 15- Wally’s story~~~~~~~~~
After passing through a mountain range, they arrived at a small, worn down old mining town. An old sign nearby read “welcome to Corel Town”
“This place looks like it fell on hard times,” Rachel said
Nigel noticed a funny look on Wally’s face “Is something wrong?”
“Well....”
A locale stopped and noticed Wally. He turned to his friend “Hey! He’s back!”
His friend walked up and shoved Wally “well lookey here! Never thought we’d see you again!”
“You got a lot of guts coming back here! Look at this place! Its all your fault this towns been turned into a garbage heap!”
“I’m sorry....” Wally said quietly
“Is that all you can say? Jerk!” they left
“What was that all about?” Rachel asked
“You heard them... its my fault the town was destroyed...t his used to be my hometown.”
“What happened?”
“It happened several years ago....”

Flashback

The citizens were having a town meeting, discussing the matter of a reactor being built nearby
Wally’s cousin Dyne was speaking “I’m defiantly against it! We’re not giving up our coalmines! They’ve been here for generations! Our ancestors risked their lives for it! We have no right to throw it all away!”
“But Dyne, nobody uses coal anymore!” Wally said, “I think we need this energy to improve our lifestyle. I don’t want my family to suffer anymore!”
“I know how you feel! I feel the same way too damn it! But still, I don’t want to give up the mines!”
“Dyne, you’ve got to understand....”
Eventually, Dyne reluctantly gave in
End flashback
“A few months the military came and burned down the town. Lots of people died”
“Why did they attack?”
“A reactor blew up in a nearby own, and the corporation blamed us for it.”
“That’s terrible!”
“I blame myself, I shouldn’t have gone along with the building agreement!”
“Don’t blame yourself! We were all fooled by the company at least once....”
“That’s why I get so pissed off at them! Not only did they take advantage of me, but I lost my parents too! And Dyne...”
Suddenly Kuki ran up waving a flyer
“OMIGOD!!! THE GOLD SAUCERS NEARBY!!!!! “
“What’s that?”
“Haven’t you ever heard of it? It’s that famous amusement park!!! Can we please go?! please please please?!”
“Kuki, Wally was in the middle of a sad story....”
“well, I guess we could use a bit of cheering up...” Claire said “and maybe we can find information on Sephiroth there! how bout Nigel?”
Nigel just shrugged “I guess so”
“YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! COME ON THE BUS FOR IT IS COMING!!!!!” she ran to the bus stop
“Sorry Wally....”
Wally just grunted “lets just go”
the bus arrived and they drove off

“WOW!!! THIS IS GONNA BE SO MUCH FUN!!!!!” Kuki said “I wanna check out everything!!!!”
“Come on Wally, cheer up!”
“I aint in no cheery mood, so just leave me alone!”
“Come Wally! lets go have fun!” Kuki cheered, grabbing his hand
he pulled away “So go ahead and have fun!!! “ he stormed away
“I think he’s mad....”
“he’ll be fine” Rachel said “he seems a little better now....anyways, we should split up. I’ll see if I can talk to Wally”
“Ok! me and Bradley are gonna go have fun!” Kuki said
“Claire and I will try to get information on Sephiroth” Nigel said
they split up

“Hey you!” Claire and Nigel looked up to see a black and white cat with a cape riding a huge stuffed rainbow monkey heading towards them. the cat was the one who was talking
“What’re you looking so down about? How about it? want me to read your fortune! um, don’t hold it against me if it’s not a great prediction. I’m an animated fortune telling machine. You can call me Kibbles!”
“Is it just fortunes you can read?” Nigel asked
“You kidding? I can find missing things, missing people,”
“Than can you tell us where to find someone named Sephiroth?”
“all right!” he vibrated for a moment, then a piece of paper popped out of the monkey’s mouth. Nigel took it and read it “Ordinary luck will be an active fortune. Give into the good will of others and something big will happen in return.... what the heck is this?”
“Huh? oops, let me try again” another paper popped out”
“be careful of forgetfulness. your lucky color is blue... you know what forget it”
“Wait, give me another chance!” he tried again
Nigel’s eyes flew open when he read what it said “what you will pursue will be yours, but you will lose something dear.”
“I don’t know if this is good or bad!” Kibbles said shocked “This is the first time I got something like this! I cant help but think about this and wont be able to relax until I see what it leads o! that’s why I’m going with you”
“Is it all right Nigel?” Claire asked
“I’m coming with you no matter what you say!” Kibbles added
suddenly they heard screams coming from the battle arena
“what’s going on?” they ran over and saw several employees dead “what happened?”
Nigel examined a body “its not Sephiroth.... these are gunshot wounds...”
a wounded employee groaned “it was.... a kid with..... a gun on his arm....”
they gasped “Wally?!”
“Hold it right there!!” the security ran up
“Wait, it wasn’t us!”
“Run!!!!” Kibbles shouted “they’re suspicious of us!!!!”
“hey!”
the security grabbed them
“wait, listen!!!”
“You’re going into prison until we can get sorted out!”

Nigel woke up. He looked around and saw he was in what looked like a desert camp
“Are you all right? Claire asked
“Yeah... where are we?”
“Corel Prison... a desert prison...” Kibbles said
“A desert prison?”
“Yup. A natural prison in the middle of a desert almost surrounded completely by quicksand, with only one road to go in and out.”
“Hey...there’s Wally!” Claire said, looking past Nigel. Nigel looked around and saw Wally. He looked like he was in a hurry
“That’s one of your friends? He looks dangerous!” Kibbles said
“Hey Wally!!” they ran up to him “at the battle arena, were you the one who_”
“Don’t come with me! There’s something I gotta deal with!” Wally said, “Don’t want none of you to get involved...
“But were already involved! Wally, just tell us what’s going on!”
“Were you the one who killed the people at the park?”
“That wasn’t me! There’s another.... kid who’s gut a gun on his arm.... several years ago....”
Flashback
“Wally! Dyne!! The village is being attacked by soldiers!”
“What? What the hell happened?!”
“Come on Wally! we gotta go help out at the village!”
suddenly a bunch of soldiers came and started shooting at them
“WATCH OUT!!!!”
Dyne lost his footing and fell over the canyon
“Dyne!!!” Wally grabbed his hand “Hang on!!! You’re comin back to the village, you hear?!”
“Yeah I’m not letting go! our parents and Joy are waiting for us!!!”
suddenly their hands were shot. Wally let go, and Dyne fell
“DYNE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
end flashback
“They had to amputate my hand after that. I decided to get a gun grafted on my arm, and swore to get revenge on Wigglestein, who took away everything.... but, I heard the doctor say something about another kid who got the same operation as me...”
“Dyne’s injury was the same as yours, right?”
“maybe he could join us in our journey!”
“Wouldn’t bet one it. I must apologize to Dyne..... that’s why I gotta go alone!”
“how do you know he’s even here?”
“I can feel it....”
“well, were coming with you whether you like it or not! bedsides, we’ll stay out of your way.”

they were walking by the junkyard area, when they heard gunshots
they walked over to see a boy with a gun on his left arm
“.....Dyne? is that you?” Wally asked
Dyne smirked and turned around “now that’s a voice I haven’t heard in ages....a voice that I’ll never forget...” he suddenly turned around and opened fire at Wally “I hear my mum’s voice, begging me not to hate your rotten guts! that’s why I didn’t hunt you down”
“I know, I was stupid. I’m not askin you to forgive me. But what’re you doing in a place like this? Why are you killing those who aren’t even involved?>
“why? why do you care? are the dead gonna understand why? Are they going to understand just hearin Wigglestein’s excuses?! I don’t car what the reason is! all that’s left is a world of despair and emptiness. I got nothing left in the world! Corel...my family...Joey....”
“Dyne? Joe’s still alive! I went back into town and I thought he was a goner, but I found him, perfectly ok! he’s in Midgar! lets go see him together!”
Dyne was quiet or a moment, then raised his gun “so... he’s still alive... all right Wally. I guess this means we have to fight.”
“what?!”
“your parents are all alone by themselves. I’ve got to take Joey to them”
“Dyne, are you insane?!”
“Joey wants to see his mum, doesn’t he”?
“You’re insane! But I don’t wanna fight you!”
“Wally!” Nigel cried
“Nigel, you stay the hell out of this! This is my problem!!!”
Wally shot Dyne in the arm. Dyne fell
Wally attempted to approach Dyne “stay back Wally!” Dyne stood up, holding his bleeding arm “, it wasn’t just my arm back then.... I lost something else...I don’t know what went wrong...”
“I don’t know either...Is this the only way we can settle this?”
“I told you...I want to destroy everything, the world...even myself....” he took about a pendant and gave it to Wally “give that to Joey.... tell him it was his cousins....”
“All right....”
“Wow...Wally’s already 2.... Wally, don’t eve make him cry....”
“Dyne? What’re you doing?”
Dyne walked up o the cliff, and jumped off
“DYNE!!!!!”
“Wally, he’s gone...”
“Dyne....” Wally fell to his knees “Me and you were the same... My hands weren’t clean either....”

After explaining the whole situation to the authorities, they were released. They met back at the bus stop, where the others were waiting. Kuki’s arms were filled with plushies she won and souvenirs.
“We were so worried about you! We heard what happened” Rachel said
“We’re all right,” Nigel looked at Wally “you feelin ok?”
“Yeah....” Wally said quietly
“Here, you can have this. He’ll cheer you up!” Kuki said, handing Wally a rainbow monkey
Wally stared at it, then frowned “A cruddy rainbow monkey?! I hate this things!”
“HEY!!!!” Kuki said angrily
Rachel laughed “looks like he’s back to normal! Oh, I forgot to mention. We’ve got news about Sephiroth! We heard he’s heading towards the Gongana region down south.”
“All right, lets get going!”
