I have something to say. Why is it that every time (for example) a 1/5 shipper says something about 2/5, the 2/5er's think it is bashing? Now, that goes both ways, and for every couple that intercepts. I seem to find, that every time I say something about 2/5, even if it is something like: "I just like them as friends" they take it as an insult, or if I say: "I just prefer 1/5 over 1/Lizzie" then that is taken as 'mean'. Now, I am feeling very confused, and am simply wondering if this means that (for example) 1/5 shippers should simply not say anything about 2/5. But then again, aren't we supposed to be able to do that? I mean, I understand how one can get angry if I say: "OMGZ, I HATE 2/5 YOU IDIOTS!!!1!!" but I never say that. Now, it seems that maybe this is a case of overprotection, or maybe fear that somebody's words will turn some shippers into others. Now, I am simply saying that if one is trying to say something about 2/5, does that mean that it is mean, just because I am a 1/5 person? I generally don't like broccoli, but does that mean if I say: "I prefer lettuce to broccoli" that that is being mean and is meant as a personal insult to broccoli lovers? No, there wasn't even criticism there. I think what I am trying to say, is that we should be able to point out our OWN opinion's without others taking that as an insult. That's all, thanks.

We do that?
That's news to me.
Want to point out any specific examples?

Well, it's happened to me, and I think that I do it subconciously. I will go to try and find the thread where I think it happened the most.

Wait, I'm stumped. This happens? Where?
I mean, yes, using the example you use, 1/5 shippers and 2/5 shippers tend to have different opinions. This is fine. An example:
Person A: I like 1/5. Person B: I like 1/Lizzie better than 1/5.
How on earth is that mean or hurtful?

You know? I'm sorry I posted this. I should have never done it. I notice some people being offended too easily, but if nobody else does, then it's probably just me. I'm sorry.

Well, if they're being offended too easily, then of course they're overreacting.

I haven't seen any of this "oversensitivity" that you mention. Really. Honestly.
The 2/5ers are a pretty laid-back bunch...hell, most of them support 5/Heinrich as well. Now if they were rabid and hypersensitive about their pairing, would that even be a possibility??
People take shipping waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too seriously.

Actually, there hasn't been much bashing, or even arguing, going on around here, from what I can tell. Things have been pretty quiet. The only thing that I know comes close to what Gail describes is when I give the slightest mention to something about 1/Lizzie or 2/5 and a shipper(s) from that couple jumps on the comment right away. I don't have a problem with this, really, because I sometimes do it when I'm bored. XD
Besides, you should see the Avatar: The Last Airbender shipping fandoms go at it. Bashing is a bajillion times worse in that fandom.

Oh, God. that is the biggest ship war I have ever seen. It either equals or surpasses the Teen Titans ship war.
Probably surpasses, but I don't watch OR ship Avatar, so I'm not a part of it.
The fancomics are still funny, though.

Ship wars are one of the main reasons (if not the SOLE reason) I avoid a whole LOT of fandoms, no matter how much I love the series.
EDIT: And it's even sadder when you can not be a fan of a particular series and still know it's completely batsheot, just by casual observing.

Actually, it's more from the fanart and comics that pop up on the Popular page of Devart every now and then.
Well... and the casual observations. I never read any of the comment, though, since I hear all sides are pretty vicious.

While I can't think of any RECENT examples offhand, I do have an idea what Forever was complaining about in the original post, as I've noticed something similar in other parts of the forum and in other topics--it's similar to what I was saying elsewhere about people here being too defensive to the point where attempts at humor are taken as serious attacks. It might happen a lot in romance too--I wouldn't know because I generally avoid this section like it was a plague.

I haven't seen much couple bashing recently...when did this happen?
Though I do enjoy a nice, civil debate over a couple now and then...y'know, just to see why the other side thinks so-and-so should be together as opposed to another couple.
